The brief bliss comes to an abrupt end when Laxman starts walking away, acknowledging her presence , yet trying to ignore her.
Her intervention and the way he patiently yet with an indifference listens to her so agin so beautifully done. Loved it!!The words of apology do not sink in his heart as he just reprimands her with stoical equanimity.
RUDENESS!! Can we call it?Ever since I saw this scene my mind has been racing.While some were angry at the character assassination ,some empathised. But One should actually not forget the sequence of events which lead to this confrontation and this behaviour .Given to the circumstances ages ago,A woman's heart always instantly warms up , a woman has been genetically programmed to surrender and specially for Urmila who had not only been smitten by his charms since the moment they met but also ,since her alliance with the prince,she saw him as her destiny.So we see at every opportunity she tries and makes up to him. Whether to seek for the answers for his indifference, or whether to apologise for her DISTRUST in him. But for men it's different. There is no doubt about it that Laxman was never disrespectful to woman .If we actually rewind the scene and watch it over again. HE WAS NEVER DISRESPECTFUL .But the sequence of events had left him to behave in this INDIFFERENT manner.
Last night ,there had been a confrontation, Laxman was performing his DUTY 'his AIM in life to PROTECT his BROTHER AND SISTER 'IN 'LAW. Already confused about this marriage being a DISTRACTION and a DEVIATION ,Laxman saw Urmila as a BARRIER right in FRONT of him between him and his DUTY towards his BROTHER. Not only this ,she argued with him. For a person ,whose service to his brother is his priority ,it is very likely that he might have seen her NOT only as a literal BARRIER but a SYMBOLIC one too ,a person who DARED to challenge him while performing his SERVICE .So the INDIFFERENCE and a BIT ANNOYANCE can be justified. For Laxman his BROTHER is the centre of his WORLD. Someone is DARING to ENCROACH that space. Threatening to DEVIATE him from the UTMOST PURPOSE of his life. So there is DEFIANCE,THERE IS DENIAL,THERE IS CONFUSION ,which could have made him react this way. The way he says and makes it CLEAR that she has nothing to do with HIS DUTY. He just ALIENATED her from the space ,she had been TRYING to ENCROACH. For him THEY ARE STRANGERS .Though Urmila has already GIVEN her heart to him ,LAXMAN has yet to come to terms with this relationship. HE IS YET TO OPEN UP HIS HEART AND WITNESS HOW SHE IS NOT TRYING TO ENCROACH THAT SPACE BUT HOW SHE IS JUST TRYING TO WALK WITH HIM ,BECOMING HIS ARDHANGINI IN THE TRUE SENSE OF THE WORD'To UNDERSTAND HIM'to listen to his heart and SERVE him with her WHOLE HEART. ---Not trying to deviate him but to RIP his soul inside out to make him see another beautiful ASPECT of life which is MERELY another PREOJECTION of LOVE'Like his service to his brother 'which is a form of LOVE'That's what makes the whole JOURNEY of Laxman and Urmila INTERESTING .Where two SOULS with DIFFERENT DREAMS AND ASPIRATIONS in life will STAND together and UNDERSTAND each other and their PRIORITIES.

@Arti,
I heard Bharat refused to see Mandavi because he wanted to rule Ayodhya with a struct and celibate mind, since Lakshman also was serving Ram by observing celibacy. Mandavi spent the 14 years serving Kaushalya, Sumitra, and Kaikeyi with Urmila and Shrutakirti. She never went to see Bharat as per what I read. The only couple who suffered no separation at all was Shatrughan and Shrutakirti, since even Ram and Sita suffered separation towards the end of exile.can u plz give me the link coz i would love to read about this woman i really love to know about tragic heroine link plz😳I would not be so much against what this serial is showing if there was some basis for it. I am not much in favor of complete fiction being shown just to give secondary characters some importance. Valmiki Ramayan and Ramcharitmanas may not have much on Urmila, but other folktales do, right? The least Sagar Pictures could do is tell us which source they are using for Lakshman and Urmila right now. If some folk story or some other source is being used, then I have no problem with what is being shown, but I never like to see 100% fiction in mythology.well lakshmana story and urmila story isnt present in completely in any of the versions or folklore it is acutally scatterd into pieces just like pieces of puzzle if someone read the various version and folklore one would find a greatlovestory hidden beneath the epic...for example...lakshmana refusal to marry and remain celibate is present in gondi ramayana and rajasthani folklore...u may find the stories in the library or bookstoreshere is gond ramayanihere in one chapii u may find lord rama contemplating on lakshmana bachelorhood he want him to get married as he dont want him to dedicate his entire life on his servicethis is artcile on rajasthani folktales http://devdutt.com/articles/indian-mythology/rebirth-of-surpanakha.html...hereit is said laskhman observed celibacy throughout his life...its not given in the main article but if u read a book on it u will find a conversation between lord rama and lakshmana something that is shown in the show where urmila heard them talking...it happened something like that lord rama asked lakshmana to get married as soon he returned to ayodhya but lakshmana refused saying he is not meant for love and marriage for him lord rama is everything...in central india folk tale which could be found in the library the book name is "RAMAYANA IN THE TRIBES OF INDIA..the book is in hindi..." there are certain passages containing beautiful conversation between lakshmana and urmila where he refused to marry and urmila didnt said a siingle word but went to goddess sita and asked her to grant her wishes...sita knew the misfortune of urmila and asked her to forget lakshmana and urmila said she will be ready to bear everything in the name of thy love...clearly urmila was in love as its shown here and in NDTV ramayan and then lord rama understood urmila dilemma he went to laskhmana and explained him the meaning of love and marriage and how it is the way to attain the god (something we saw wen lord rama was explaining love to his brother and then the grand wedding took place)there is paper work by guhyre which tells that laskhmana was somewht a tragic hero he was heroic among htem he knew his deeds may lead to bad consequences still he acted according to the wish of lord rama here also the writer has depicted the reluctance of lakshmana to marry urmila which was seen him throughout the epi...he was also guilty of leaving sitamaa and cutting supernakha nose ...the post relationship between urmila and laskhmana is hinted in ramayana in the tribes of indiait is depicted urmila and lakshmana were perfect husband and wife and they lead a very happy life some of the tales are vocal usually popular in parts of ayodhya lucknow and chitrakoot...there is passage in uttar ramayana where sitamaa teases laskhmana to recognize his young bride among the poster lakshmana was so shy tht he quickly change off the topic he did recognized his bride if u read uttar ramayana u will get to know its in google book too wait i will give the linkso one can deduce tht they had a strong relationship afterwardssadly there is no clue about their separation in any versions and we have to seek the help of reowned writers the protrayal of urmila's pain and suffering is given in urmila a epi poem written by maithalisharan gupt there is a novel called URMILA in telgu i guess concentrating on urmila then the urmila sleep is very famous poem depicting their love and dedication towards each other http://www.manushi-india.org/pdfs_issues/PDF%20Files%20153/Urmila%20pg.pdf this is the link i know u must have read itthe satavik character of urmila is the one I read in Ramakatha Rasa Vahini of Sri Sathya Sai Baba. Kindly clarify your source if you read(such variations are possible, . she never left her room or changed clothes. For, in the RKR Vahini, Baba says she never slept for the 14 years in sympathy with her husband on self imposed exile. Indeed Prince Lakshman did not sleep (hence called 'Urangavili' in Tamil or the unslept one) for 14 years and qualified to kill the valiant Indrajith who could be killed only by one who had not slept for 12 years or so and celibate.the celibacy that lakshmana observed is given in krittivassi ramayanathere is one popular folktale where naradji some where it is written nidra devi asked her for boon and she asked to nidra devi to make laskhmana forget her it given in the google article too plz google itthen some more element can be found here http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=o1y-nXMK268these videos are based on the story given in central india.folklore...the same book ramayana in tribes of indiaso in short we can deduce lakshmana was hesitant to marry but once he married he was a devoted husband and urmila and lakshmana went through hardship and remain loyal pious to each other and in the end they were united...do u know that urmila got the fruit of her sacrifice lord rama blessed her and she was born as vimala devi...here is the link http://www.shreekhetra.com/mahaprasad.html😳thats all i know i f u have any other knowledge plz do share with us coz its lakshmana AT and we are actually interested in this side characterAs for Sati and Parvathi, their stories are written in Shiva Purana, Devi Bhagwatham, Skanda Purana, etc so we know those stories in detail and why they broke the strictures of society. By not giving us a basis for Lakshman's rudeness and Urmila's forwardness in this show, we are left to think it's fiction (which it very well may be since SP is famous for that) and I'd rather see no love story between them than something that is total fiction.actually it isnt total fiction plz refer above 😳Could some of you ask which source they're following for this story please? yes plz i wanna know more and more about them i m so crazy for them😆

Also ...I am SO TOTALLY IN FOR SECONDARY CHARACTER GIVEN IMPORTANCE TOO.Why only Urmila,Mandavi,Shrutkriti everyone should be explored.That will make a DIFFERENCE ..A tale which is UNTOLD along with the DIVINE love and Story of Ram -Sita...
Also..I do not know much about SOURCES or stuff but I guess the story of Urmila and her attitude was not very richly defined in texts,So if their is some creative freedom added with the dash of drama makes PERFECT sense to me .Please IGNORE my little knowledge but In fact I would LOVE if SP talks and explores other characters which you TERM as SECONDARY ...They were IMPORTANT too.As any STORY whether REAL or MYTHOLOGICAL is not the story of the leads but It is a journey of all the characters and how they play a role in the CULMINATION of the story ..
And regarding " Maryada" ..It is too HARSH a word...I would take the word lajja or shyness ...I agree women in those days were shy but Where did she break her maryada while trying to meet someone who is going to be your husband and the apology scene was much needed..If She wouldn't have gone to meet him and apologize then it would be against her maryada...
So that makes sense to me and can u quote the SOURCE which says that Urmila never met Lakshman before marriage ?
Also there has a huge debate about rudeness of Laxman..I am just copy pasting my views ..here from the other threadThe brief bliss comes to an abrupt end when Laxman starts walking away, acknowledging her presence , yet trying to ignore her.

P.S..This is my personal view no offense to any scripture as such...I havery scant knowledge but whatever little I know I find it actually very BRAVE AND ORIGINAL of the PH to bring out UNTOLD TALES ..EXPLORE NEW HORIZONS...Anything new is HARD to ACCEPT but a BLISS to watch!!

Also, one of the other reasons I do not like to see Urmila meeting Lakshman before marriage is that Sita never did so. Just like Lakshman was so devoted to Ram, Urmila was also devoted to Sita and both of them followed in the footsteps of their elder siblings. Ram and Sita never met each other even after the swayamvar when they were engaged. They never broke the boundaries of maryada and as their siblings, Bharat, Lakshman, Shatrughan, Urmila, Mandavi, and Shrutakirti also followed the same maryada. Regardless of what other characters did in other puranas, it is wrong showing Urmila so forward and keen on meeting Lakshman when Sita herself observes maryada by keeping herself away from Ram before the marriage.
Anyway, the marriage is next week so I guess no more such incidents will take place, but I do hope Lakshman is not shown rude to Urmila after the marriage.😕

one of the reason urmila is given more scenes as compared to other two sisters is coz she is wife of lakshman and this PH clearly stated before the show launched they will try to explore more aabout lakshman too..in all temples we see RLS together..so what is the reason ???? they r exploring that aspect too... so if lakshman ko bhaav dena hai tho wife ko bhi dena padega...😆
but as everyone stated we do not have a clear reference point..we do not know how Urmila could have reacted...i really have no issues with her going to meet lakshman..for fun we were saying she was drooling him but the fact is she went to apologize and why..? becuase of the previous nights incidents..so thumbs for that attitude of hers...
anything new is not readily accepted...we dont want to think beyond what has been there already..but am loving this new showmakers ..who are trying to delve into unknown territories ( haaye neil ka fav words :P ) ..anyways...
ok rushing to class now...will come later ...
