I am a BIG fan of classic B & W Bollywood.
My alltime favorites are:
1. Appu's trilogy (series of 3 movies)
2. Do Baigha Zameen (memorable film based upon a plight of a miserable family)
3. Boot Polish (great movie at street children)
4. Pyaasa (pure genius of guru dutt)
5. Kaaghaz ke phool (best movie ever at showbiz and film industry)
6. Hum Log (depiction of poor people's life and pain at its best)
7. Foot Path (genius zia sarhadi's most memorable film...I liked it more then Hum Log of the same director... dilip kumar & meena kumari first time in a kind of parallel movie)
8. Do aankhain baara haath (high class cinema of v shantaram...great script, great direction)
9. Dosti (old one... story of two friends, one blind & one physically disabled)
10. Half Ticket (funny as hell)
11. Dhool Ka Phool (very moving story)
12. AAKHRI KHAT (One of my ultimate favorite... Rajesh khanna's early movie... based on a 21/2 or a hardly three year old small kid wandering everywhere in the city on his own in search of her mother, who died miserably after writing her last letter...extremely emotional movie, very touchy & gripping)
13. DASTAK (a very different movie... based on a famous novel, directed by the same author rajindar singh bedi... sanjeev kumar is at his best... new actress Rehana sultan won national award in her debut...very different script and movie..a pure classic)
14. Mughal e Azam Though not fully Black and white (one song and few last parts are in original color) it is one of the most successful movie of Indian cinema's history.
It took whole nine years in making, and when released broke all boxoffice records left right & center.
