The first official trailer of Salman Khans upcoming biggie, Ek Tha Tiger, received a roaring response of almost five lakh hits on YouTube in less than 24 hours, since it released on Wednesday afternoon.
Salman fans have gone berserk over the sleekly cut and fast- paced trailer, which is edited by director Kabir Khan himself and released by producers, Yash Raj Films.
It is for the first time that the trailer of a Bollywood film has received such a huge response online.
Within hours of being launched on YouTube, various other sites had already managed to download the 2.45- minute clip and put it up for public display.
The trailer is a subject of discussion on various social networking sites and has been trending on Twitter, with fans expressing excitement about seeing Salman romancing with ex- lover Katrina Kaif for the first time on- screen after their break- up.
The trailer mixes glossy action with drama and some witty, mushy moments between Salman and Katrina. The film, has been pegged as an espionage thriller, has been sold as a hardcore action fare so far but the trailer gives the impression that there is also a strong romantic angle.
In one scene, Katrina introduces herself to Salman as Zoya, adding that friends call her Zee.
Salman introduces himself as Manish and adds this tongue- in- cheek repartee, almost as if the superstar is out to underline a retro appeal: My friends call me Doordarshan.
Slated for an August 15 release, which also heralds the Eid weekend, Ek Tha Tiger, made on a budget of Rs.117 crore, is being billed as the film that could break all Bollywood records.
Our sources tell us that Kat's character Zoya is a ballet dancer, who not only takes lessons in the dance form but also teaches it to her fellow students. The film's crew has shot some of the sequences in London's Trinity University that is known for its contribution in arts and music.
It is being learnt that while Kat didn't really take any lessons to portray her character in the film, she has dedicated her role to all the choreographers who she has worked with in the past. Katrina confirms to us that she is playing a dance teacher. However, she denies that her character has anything to do with ballet dancing.

| Director Kabir Khan is upset after "Ek Tha Tiger" promos were banned in Pakistan following allegations that it portrays the neighbouring country's intelligence agency in a bad light. But he says this is a misconception and that his film is neither insensitive nor derogatory. "I will say it once more... Ek Tha Tiger is NOT anti Pakistan...In this day and age, it's stupid to make films that are insensitive or derogatory to any country or community," Kabir tweeted. The director, who earlier made "Kabul Express" on post-Taliban Afghanistan and won critical acclaim for it, says that jingoistic films lead to such situations. "This is the price we have to pay because unfortunately our industry has made insensitive and jingoistic films in the past," he wrote. According to reports, Pakistan Electronic Media Regulatory Authority (PEMRA), the country's media regulatory watchdog, has directed cable operators and satellite TV channels to refrain from airing promos/reviews of the movie till it is issued a no-objection certificate by the Central Board of Film Censors of Pakistan. PEMRA alleges that the film shows the Pakistani intelligence agency ISI in a bad light. Produced by Yash Raj Films, "Ek Tha Tiger" features Salman Khan and Katrina Kaif and is coming out Aug 15. Kabir Khan is confident that the film will be released in Pakistan. "I am absolutely sure that once the censor board of Pakistan sees 'Ek Tha Tiger', they will be more than happy to show the film in Pakistan," he posted. "I can assure the millions of fans of Salman in Pakistan that 'Ek Tha Tiger' will release in theatres in their country," he added. |
'Tiger' Salman Khan is up in the arms to promote his upcoming and much-anticipated film 'Ek Tha Tiger'. Along with co-star Katrina Kaif, the actor is currently at Gaiety Multiplex in Mumbai for the official launch of a song from 'Ek Tha Tiger'.
