Kituu Sabb Jaantii Hai ...

Courtesy: Goher Iqbal Punn
Tuesday, November 15, 2005

Sahara One Television never looks tired rather is geared up all the time to present something unique and entertaining to its audience situated not only in India but also across the globe. Sahara One is the channel, which always shines with rich contents, sharp picture, interesting programmes, adroit team and catchy-bright colours. The claim from this gigantic abode is absolutely right.... 'Har Rang Kay Mizaj, Har Mizaj Kay Rang.....Yeh Rang Kitne Sare Yahan' since it's laced with utterly eye-pleasing colours to provide wintriness to eyes.

Always on top to give its viewers new interesting entertaining programs to watch, Sahara One TV - the much watched and coveted Hindi entertainment channel brings yet another entertainer 'Kituu Sabb Jaantii Hai'.A daily soap starts from Monday 14th November at 9.30 p.m., it is a new face of the evolved Indian woman and talks of the life of a middle class girl.

'Kituu...Sabb Jaantii Hai' tells the story of a lass 'Katyayani Purohit aka Kituu', who dreams of subjugating the world with the might of her pen....it also pours light on the facts that how a little mohalla girl grows up to be a fine journalist - a woman of great spirit and strength, a face in Indian television.

"Our earlier show 'Woh Rehne Waali Mahlon Ki', which is one of our top shows on the channel today was about a princess who comes to meet life halfway, while our other show 'Hare Kkaanch ki Choodiyan' raised a debate on whether marriage is about freedom or bondage. In our current show, 'Kituu...Sabb Jaantii Hai', we are looking at yet another facet of the Indian woman", Mr. Purnendu Bose, COO, Sahara One Television utters with much conviction

Manish Goswami's Siddhant Cinevision production house has produced this mega soap, whose title track has been rendered by none other than the cuckoo of singing, the very mellifluous Shreya Ghoshal. The show reveals the story of a young girl with her inner strength and power to face life. In her journey to get at the top, Kituu learns many lessons of life. The saga also unfolds the sequences of a diehard romantic and fearless journalist who rolls into this situation.

Looking very much excited and enthusiastic about her title role, the bubbly-sparkling wine young actress Ami Trivedi chips in her views: "I completely identify with Kituu, the girl who dares to dream big and makes it big that too on her own terms and conditions. I clearly relate to very well and am sure that many Indian women today will see a part of themselves in her."

Ami is a familiar face on theater arena and has earlier done plays like 'Life Partner, Ek Akarshan Tejavi and Gujarati Bhaiiya Gam Gajavyu' for over half a decade.

"The inquisitiveness of an upcoming yet fearless journalist beckons Kituu to never take things on face value, and will rather probe into the nuances of an issue before passing a judgment. Kituu is a fighter who wouldn't compromise on her integrity even as a perceptively truthful profession seems to expect some from her. Kituu is a woman with integrity of iron and nerves of steel. While she unnerves some, she is alluring to others. The strength of her character adds to the show", Mr. Purnendu Bose, COO, Sahara One Television says

Since 'Kituu Sabb Jaantii Hai' has started from November 14th, the time slots for two other popular serials on Sahara One Television have been changed. These include the repeat telecast of time of 'Hare Kkaanch Ki Choodiyan' which changes to 8.30 p.m. from 9.30 pm and 'Dial One Aur Jeeto' now becomes an half an hour show between 8 pm- 8.30 pm starting 14th November, 2005.

Concept Note:

She is the girl with fire in her belly and dreams in her eyes. A girl, who has been brought up lovingly in a middle class family with the right values instilled, but dares to dream beyond the horizons of her little mohalla. A girl who is destined to become one of the most recognised faces in the country, of over a billion people for all the right reasons.... Kituu-the apple of her father's eye, the life of her mohalla, the leader of her gang of boys, who comes to be known as one of the finest women in the competitive world of journalism.

An extremely talkative and a lovable girl with an amicable aura about her personality, Kituu faces life's biggest challenges at the tender age of 20. While all other girls are busy fantasizing their husbands and their trousseaus, Kituu is forced to bring all her hidden talents to the fore in an attempt to save her family from a potential ruin and a lifetime of debt. With all that she manages to achieve in her life of strife, Kituu truly seems to be born successful in all her endeavors. These qualities also ensure that she reaches the pinnacle of her profession and becomes a household name in the arena of electronic journalism.

'Kituu Sabb Jaantii Hai' is the hitherto untold story of a middle class girl who fights her way out through a rather different path in an attempt to balance her family and professional life. It is therefore not ironic that someone as level-headed as Kituu who has the probable solutions to all the problems of her family, friends and colleagues, falters at every stage of her own personal crossroads. Her question to herself "Did I do the right thing?" never seems to leave her mind free because of the turmoil she goes through with regards to her various aspects in her life. This is Kituu's journey into the unobtrusive terrain-she is triumphant about her professional life finds herself constantly in the winding path of attaining personal happiness. Katyayani Purohit, or Kituu, however, finds the inner strength to face life and all its surprises, pleasant as well as ugly, as comes out of it all as a winner.

Character Sketch of Kituu....aka Katyayani Purohit Lead Protagonist of the Show:

Katyayani Purohit, fondly known as Kituu, is the quintessential is a girl from a small mohalla who exudes a lively appeal wherever she goes. As the protagonist of Sahara One Television's new primetime show 'Kituu Sabb Jaantii Hai' she is confident, intelligent and smart. Maybe that's the reason why she is the face of the new generation of young women achievers who have managed it, and quite well, to pass through the barbs of life as survivors, and never as victims. Her stubbornness comes across positively as she is strong willed who believes in the need of grit and ardour for achieving her laurels in today's competitive world of journalism.

A girl with average looks but a rather appealing personality, Kituu's infectious smile is of the kind that could flutter a million hearts. She is the kind of girl who is still growing up to be the confident yet warm woman, the outspoken yet homely charisma that convinces the mystery of any woman of her age, who wouldn't feel it awkward to shed a tear when the circumstances make her eyes moist. This sensitive and impulsive lass knows to respect herself and this comes across through the varied tests laid down before her as tries to grapple the innocuous world of professionalism. She is true friend and is always there for them when the need arises. The well-groomed middle class girl with the values and morals instilled in her, hers may seem to be another prosaic personality if viewed from a distance. However, Kituu doesn't present herself as a doormat.

The inquisitiveness of an upcoming yet fearless journalist beckons Kituu to never take things on face value, and will rather probe into the nuances of an issue before passing on her judgment. Like all the other girls in their early 20s, Kituu is also a romantic at heart who, in the beginning of the serial, believes in very ideal romantic situations as featured in tales of yore. But she begins to realize with experience as her best teacher that real life is far from the well-edited realms of fiction. The fighter who wouldn't compromise on her integrity even as a perceptively truthful profession seems to expect some from her, this girl, ushered into the tough world wouldn't bargain to give up on an immovable mountain. The woman of the grit of steel unnerves some of the men she encounters, while many others find her grit quite alluring.

Don't miss to catch the entertaining chill to fill your thirsty bill with the tantalizing pill only on your favourite channel Sahara One Television Monday to Thursday at 9.30 p.m.

Kituu is newest weapon in SaharaOne's kitty

Sahara One is readying another mega daily soap, promos of which have already started appearing on the channel. But the channel is keeping the Siddhant Cinevision produced show, Kituu... Sabb Jaantii Hai, and its protagonists well under wraps till its proposed launch on 14 November.

Telly Chakkar has however found out that the channel's new find, a theatre veteran of sorts, is Ami Trivedi, who has acted in several Gujarati plays (like Patro Mitro and Rishtey Natey) and has done a voice over or two, also. Kituu, like Shanno and Jassi, will be a woman centric show, we learn. Shama Deshpande, veteran of several TV shows, plays Kituu's mother, who is forever worried about her daughter. Our sources tell us that the Kituu unit is currently shooting in a bungalow in suburban Mumbai in Jogeshwari.

Says a visibly excited SaharaOne programming head Kumud Chaudhary, Kituu....is a show that's very mainstream, but the content is so designed as to take televison programming to a new level."

Producer Manish Goswami, however refused to comment on the show.

Meet Kituu, Sahara One's new primetime girl

After the thriller Kohinoor which was launched with a big hype, Sahara One is all set to unleash another soap, this time about an average-looking middle-class girl who dreams big. Slated as a contemporary soap, it places the protagonist in the fast-paced world of television, for the first time. Ami Trivedi, who plays the title role in Kituu Sabb Jaanti Hai, feels it is tailor-made for her ...

Dressed in beige capris and a printed blue Tee, Ami looks like any other girl fresh out of college. She may not exactly make heads turn, but the fair and pretty damsel manages to catch your eye alright. It's her smile that captivates. And that is precisely what the makers of Kituu Sabb Jaanti Hai are hoping to cash upon.

Katyaini or Kituu as she is fondly called by everyone in Chandni Chowk is supposed to be a Miss know-all. She will solve others' problems chutki mein but when it comes to her own life, she falters. She is her father's favourite child and the leader of her little gang in the mohalla. Mind you, the gang is made up of boys. Talkative and mischievous on one hand, emotional and sensitive on the other, Kituu is a much-loved, pampered brat till circumstances force her to transform from a carefree girl to a responsible adult.

Though only a few episodes have been shot, Ami has already started living the character of Kituu. "That's because Kituu is very much like me. She has all the traits that I have," smiles Ami. Like Kituu, Ami is the apple of her father's eye (she has a brother Karan), is friendly by nature, and like the character, is at the crossroads of her life, having graduated a couple of years ago from Jai Hind College. Most importantly, like Kituu, Ami also loves breaking rules. "Not the ones that cause harm but I end up doing things that are not always approved by my father," sighs Ami.

For instance, her decision to take up acting as a profession was met with stiff resistance by dad Tushar Trivedi even though he himself is associated with theatre. "Like all Gujarati fathers, he wanted me to complete my education and get married," she laughs. Ironically, it was because of her father only that Ami had landed up as a child artiste on stage. By the time, she was in her teens, the acting bug had bitten her and she was determined to be an actress. Equally determined to help her daughter's dream come true was her progressive mother who encouraged her to follow her heart.

And so Ami who had already faced the camera as a child in serials like Zee Horror Show, Humrahi, a couple of Gujarati telefilms and one Didi directed by Prakash Jha in Hindi, was more than happy to pick up from where she had left off, after finishing her education.

When she ventured into television as a teenager, Ami landed with roles in Babul Ki Duayen Leti Ja and recently in Kumkum - Ek Pyara Sa Bandhan. "I played Vrinda in Kumkum but my track did not develop as promised and the producer and I decided to part amicably. However, I am fond of my role in Babul ... where I played a major character, though not as one of the girls. It was a completely different track in a hostel," recalls the actress. The role fulfilled her desire to lead a life in a hostel!

When she heard about a new serial, Ami like any other aspirant, auditioned for the role of Kituu and was chosen among 40-45 girls. Says producer Manish Goswami, "Ami suited the role to 'T' as far as the look and performance is concerned. She has a theatre background which makes her a disciplined artiste." This will be the first serial from Siddhant Cinevision to be aired on Sahara One and Manish has a lot of expectations. "It's a serial every girl aged between 17-25 will easily relate to," he states.

Set in North-India, Kituu is dressed in two plaits, a collared kurta with 3/4th sleeves and loose pyjamas. The retro look, however, will last only as long as she is in Delhi. Once she comes to amchi Mumbai and finds her true calling as a reporter in a channel, Kituu will be transformed into a contemporary, hep woman sporting latest jeans, skirts, chudidars and suits. But more than the look, it's the profession that has Ami's ardenalin rushing. She can't wait to be a journalist on the small-screen. "I like Barkha Dutt and she will definitely be my inspiration for the role," she gushes.

Kituu Sabb Jaanti Hai will be aired from November 14, Monday-Thursday at 9.30 pm

Sahara One reschedules primetime shows to five days a week

Indiantelevision.com Team

(6 December 2005 8:00 pm)

MUMBAI: After Star Plus, Sony and Zee, it is now Sahara One Television's turn to reschedule its primetime shows from originally airing them four days a week to five days a week.

With effect from 5 December, the channel's primetime shows Hare Kkaanch Ki Choodiyan (8.30 pm) Woh Rehne Waali Mehlon Ki (9 pm) and Kituu Sabb Jaanti Hai (9.30 pm) will now be telecast from Monday - Friday instead of the original Monday - Thursday.

The Friday primetime slot on Sahara One, which was until now occupied with movies will now shift to the weekends (Saturday and Sunday).

Speaking to Indiantelevision.com on the reason behind the change, Sahara One Television COO Purnendu Bose said, "Our weekday primetime shows are doing well and these demand appointment viewing. It is a myth that weekdays are from Monday to Thursday and the weekend is from Friday to Sunday. We have extended our shows to Friday so as to have consistent programming for the week. With this shift we are also looking at consolidating the 8.30 pm - 10 pm band."

However, Sahara One's latest offering Saath Rahega Always, which airs at 7.30 pm will continue to air from Monday to Thursdays for the time being.

When queried as to why the new show was being left out of this shuffle, Bose said, "The show has just started and as of now we don't have a sufficient bank. As as when that technicality is taken care of, Saath Rahega Always will also be included in the Friday lineup."

Kituu Sabb Jaantii Hai, Sahara One

Tell tale: Katyayani Purohit aka Kituu, the most popular girl in her area, sets out to be a television journalist. No prizes for guessing her character is based on Barkha Dutt.

Who's in it: Ami Trivedi, earlier seen in Khichdi, Babul Ki Duayen Leti Ja and Kumkum, plays the bratty Kituu.

What's hot: The storyline, for a change, doesn't seem regressive with the protagonist choosing to become an investigative journalist over a housewife.

What's not: With barely any emphasis on the news stories Kituu covers, this one looks like another emotional family drama.

What's predictable: Amit Verma plays a rich charmer who woos Kittu in all earnestness, but Kituu holds on firmly to her middle class sensibilities, despite being totally besotted initially

Kituu is the hot new journo on the block!

K ituu has arrived! And she is not just any girl next door -- she is a journalist, who takes her career seriously!

Ami Trivedi as Kituu

SaharaOne television announced its latest show, Kituu Sabb Jaantii Hai, at the ITC Grand Hotel in central Mumbai on Wednesday, and going by the showreel presented at the press meet, Kituu...looks like a show that can make heads turn. The show will be aired Monday to Thursday at 9:30 pm. As has been already reported by Telly Chakkar, the show is being produced by Manish Goswami's Siddhanth Cinevision.(Kituu is newest weapon in SaharaOne's kitty)

In this season of gals being launched as the face of shows, SaharaOne's initative does not come as a surprise. They already have Rani (Woh Rehne...) Shyamlee (Hade Kaanch Ki Choodiyan) and Irawati (Kohinoor) as the faces of the channel, now Kituu has been added to the list and this for sure makes the Monday to Thursday primetime slot look good!

"We are not following a me too policy! We have already have women who have played central characters on the channel, but Kituu is different. I believe that there is a Kituu in all of us and we have tried to get that out. Moreover, women oriented shows have done well, we can't deny that!" says head of programming, (fiction), SaharaOne, Kumud Choudhury.

Kumud Choudhhury, Ami Trivedi, Purnendu Bose and Manish Goswami at the launch

When asked if Kituu's professional life would take a backseat, once the show progresses, both Manish and Kumud denied that this will happen. "We must not forget that Kituu is a family entertainer, but the professional life is also very important part of the show," says Manish.

"We are being very careful that this does not happen. We will strike a good balance between her professional and personal life," points out Kumud, who says that there is a separate set in Chandivili, which has been modelled on a television network studio.

All seems well with Kituu...at the moment...but only time will tell if it can match the success of Jassi...

sabb jaantii hai
Dharam Pal Ami TrivediYoung, vivacious and talented Ami Trivedi is set to make her screen debut with SaharaOne's latest primetime daily television show, 'Kituu Sabb Jaantii Hai'. The series goes on air on Monday. A young graduate in Physics from Jai Hind College, this academically inclined actress is not nervous when she faces the arclight. Instead, it gives her a new high to perform better with every shot.
Having dabbled in theatre for 6 years and juggling with studies at the same time, it was no mean task therefore for Ami to portray the role of a young extrovert 20-something girl who takes the plunge to face the professional world. This Gujarati lass confesses to being truly in love with her Gujarati culture—be it the attire, the exuberant dandiya, or the food which she misses the most on the sets of her shoot.''Kituu Sabb Jaantii Hai' is about this innocent girl from a humble mohalla background who has been ushered into the demanding and the highly competitive world of professionals. Having gained a lot of exposure for honing her acting skills while in theatre, Ami had the opportunity to grow up as a theatre actor with the likes of Tiku Talsania, Homi Wadia, Dhrmesh Vyas and Siddharth Randheria. Like Kittu, Ami too believes in the quality of work that she does which needs to be self-fulfilling first before it could be presented to the world.

Ami just wants you to know that 'Kituu Sabb Jaantii Hai'. So look out for her!
