Good news for all Raja Hasan fans. He has sung the theme song or the anthem of L.K.Advani's Jan Chetna Yatra under the music direction of Mani Shankar.
Here is the full report:
There will be a pop element in senior BJP leader LK Advani's 'rath yatra' as the party today launched a four-and-a-half minute long song sung by Bollywood singer Raja Hasan and directed by filmmaker Mani Shankar.
The song, 'Ab Bas' (enough), opens with Advani reciting lines about "thousands of crores of nation's money in foreign banks" and inflation. The yatra anthem ends with him again reciting lines on 'sankalp' to eradicate corruption.
Party leaders are hoping that youngsters would like the song and put it on social networking sites like Facebook and download it on MP3 players.
At the launch function at his Prithviraj Road residence, Advani said, "The vigour with which the US, Germany, France and other countries whose (black) money are lodged in tax havens have pursued the issue, was lacking in India's context'During this period, many have even withdrawn this money."
"The Indian government has got some names of people who have got money in foreign shores. I demand that all those names should be made public without delay," he said
The BJP leader said that he was initially a bit hesitant to recite lines in the song but the director made him do so.
Advani said that he had seen Mani Shankar's film Knock Out, which was centred around the black money issue, and when the decision for the yatra was taken his daughter Pratibha contacted the filmmaker who agreed and prepared the anthem in two days' time.
Speaking on the occasion, Mani Shankar said the song was a voluntary effort and none of the artists had charged for it.
Party leaders said that the song may be later made into a music video with shots taken from Advani's yatra.
Is LK Advani's daughter, Pratibha Advani, stepping into her father's shoes? She was formally introduced at Chapra not only as Advani's daughter, but also as the brain behind the composition of the theme song - Ab Bas. Pratibha, who is accompanying her father on the 38-day Jan Chetna Yatra, has played an important role in the composition of the yatra's song.
"She has visualised the theme of the song," said BJP's national spokesperson Rajiv Pratap Rudy.
Rudy introduced Pratibha to the crowd, who acknowledged the cheers with folded hands.
Pratibha accompanied her father throughout on the rath.
"Ab Bas isn't just a song. It's the resonating expression against corruption in the heart of every Indian. The theme song portrays this anger through words, strums and beats, rhythms and chords, echoing the feeling in the hearts of seven hundred million young men and women of India," said Rudy.
Pratibha, in addition to the song, BJP sources said, is also looking after the yatra's logistics and taking care of Advani.
On Wednesday, she was also spotted at the BJP leader's press conference in the state capital for a brief period.
At Ara, she was spotted taking snaps and shooting the entire proceedings on a handycam.
Ab Bas has been visualised and designed by film maker Mani Shankar. The composition is by music director Gaurav Das Gupta, arranged by Roshan and Sachin and sung by Raja Hasan. Manthan has penned the lyrics with creative inputs from Prasoon Joshi, Pratibha Advani and Mani Shankar.
Facts on the Jan Chetna Yatra theme song
The three-minute theme song of Jan Chetna Yatra begins with an address by LK Advani.
The song resonates with the current genre of young India - with acoustic guitars, drums, violins, tabla, and keyboards to express the angst of the singer.
It asks - "When we see how corruption has eaten into our vitals, sucked out the life blood of our nation, how should we feel? When we consider how our own leaders have looted us to the tune of lakhs of crores of Rupees, what emotion are we expected to have?
It adds: That is the emotion of the nation today. That's the rising rhythm in a billion plus hearts.
The unique aspect of this song is that it was done voluntarily, for no monetary consideration and as a small contribution for a great national cause, BJP sources claimed.
