i love her kareena and am her fan but i have to agree she could have postponed her vacation because end of the day family comes first whether or not your close to them.

Let me clarify. I know what she did was STUPID. Stupid becuase, there's no way peopel woudl think well of her gesture. It does appear disrespectful and undignified.

But I do understand her. If you havent had any connect whatsoever with your paternal side in all your years growing up, your father, never reinforced that htey were family (heck, your father wasnt family either. Kareena refused to talk abot him in an interview when she was just a lil kid), then there's no way you can have that kinda connect wiht the person or the feel of famiy. Like I dont ven think she thinks of them as "family". Its just the surname she bangs on about coz its something WORTH flashing and its prestigous.

She only patched up wtih Rishi's family in recent years. She didnt go to the Raj Kapoor conference thingie at IIFA this year. She went to give condolences becuase she was in the city and coz she did know the man. Sure she could have canceled all her appointments, but I dont think she was affected enough to.

Her relations with that side are very complex, and I dont think anyone would understand. Personally, I dont see her doing anything of this nature had it been, god forbid, her parents, or even Saif's parents for that matter. But maybe Shammi Kapoor being her grandfather's brother didnt make him family enough.

You know, the other day, I read Shammi's interview that they just relased. They mentioned Ranbir and Kareena a couple fo times in teh interview. And he was very sweet. But the way he talked about Rnabir, he didnt talk about Kareena. With Ranbir, he mentioned how he sees, "a lot of kapoor family members in him", like how one talks about family. With Kareena, it was very much how you'd talk about some person you meet once in a while, but still very nicely.

Its sad, but I wish Kareena experienced her paternal side..or any side really. I dont even think Babita ever introduced her girls to HER side of the family. Did Babita have a family? lol

^ that's what I was thinking too desu. What bebo did was wrong, but it's no big deal as much as ppl making it look. Am I making this up...I thought bebo said in one interview like ranbir and his sister would get gifts and she doesn't from Shaami kapoor. Is it true. I always felt bebo when she was younger felt jealous of ranbir and how he was treated as a family more than her.

Hmm I don't know much about their backgrounds, but normally in families mine included it's always the girls who are pampered silly while us male folk get the shorter end of the stick :))

Am kind of confused about indian funerals. So what was the one bebo attended. does it go on for a week.

I attended like 3 days of the funeral of my grandfather. I didn't know him that well. My aunts were crying for like a week. it's weird how my aunt's friends don't even know my grandfather but they were crying also. I didn't quite understand that. I had no tears in my eyes. And the funeral went on for a long time. I had other responsibilities I couldn't stay that long. I felt guilty for leaving, but they understood.

Personally, I wouldn't have gone off on a vacation with my boyfriend if someone in my family died but then that's just me.

^Well IMO it was a matter of postponing for just a day so she could attend the funeral because this looks insensitive on her part..but oh well, it's her life..
