{they are not mentioned on your site}.

So can't we do the same for HR too. Why point fingers at him always when it comes to inspiration. And the worse is when it is HR the term used becomes LIFTED.... and for others inspiration....😕

I am no HR fan. But here in this particular issue I feel lot of biasness is being shown to HR and Anu Malick by both the listeners and the media.

👏 👏 THanks Bhaskarji. Love what you wrote there.

I am not trying to instigate a fight , Nsinghji. I'm sorry if it feels that way. But, if you accuse someone of something, you have to be ready get it back.

If someone says look , "I like this composer because of this , and this." I would say KUDOS to you, because I appreciate people who appreciate music.

But, if someone says, "I like this composer, but this other composer here sucks because he does this and this. IN comparison to him, the composer I like is better and has more integrity. SO I have better taste in music."

If you are accusing and questioning the integrity of one of my favourite composers then I will defend him and an Then my answer will be , "BE fair!"

In general , I feel certain people only appreciate old styles of musical quality. They glorify it. THey see no fault in past compositions to a point of disregarding anything new and innovative. OLd is gold kind of thinking.

I don't doubt that some past compositions are absolutely brilliant and can't be compared. But, there are certain compositions in this day and age that are completely unique and have incorporated a fascinating style. IF we stick with old style of melodies than how are we going to progress in music. That's what I say.....

Finally, inspiration or copy. Who is to say? I say if you take the track and you really add some instumentation and only make it better, why not? But, yes I think you must credit the source.

Improving something requires creativity also. Sometimes It requires more work.

Like I said I love ARR, LP, SJ- I really don't care if they got inspired from a source here or there. Infact, in all we do we are inspired from something or the other.

N Sinha ji, thanks for another great thread. So good to see you back. I really missed you. Thanks you again.

Tumhari nazron [Film: Kal ki awaaz (1992)]

Lifted off by Noor Jehan's 'Hamari saanson' from the 1972 Pakistani film, 'Mere Hazoor' with music by M Ashraf.
Listen to Tumhari nazron | Hamari saanson
The original is a beautiful track sung amazingly by Noor Jehan. But where Nadeem Shravan score in their version is the addition of some fine nuances that make the Hindi track quite memorable! For example, that small twist at, 'ajab si chaahat', which deviates from the original. Small innovations, I guess!

Dear coolest one

Before arriving at any conclusion please listen to the original song being cited many of the samples cited on
http://www.itwofs.com/ have different notations from our compositions, it needs detailed study. Besides merely using the opening line doesn't mean copying or simply the opening chords........!!(only the webmaster can explain reason behind clubbing them as copy).

We have such a vast classical resource in hindustani/carnatic, why not base the tunes on them instead of picking up or getting inspired from all over...!!!!!

I listened to some of the songs by Rehman listed in that website, but honestly I hardly found any similarities between Rehman's tune and the actual tune. In a couple of songs, it's only a few seconds which sound a little similar. I think it will not be right to use the word 'lift' in this case. I don't have any problem with this kind of music which is inspired or partially inspired by someone else's. It's bad when someone copies something line by line and doesn't give the credit to the actual owner whether it be Pritam's 'Ya Ali' or Anu Malik's 'Jaane Jaana' or Jatin-Lalit's 'Suniye To' and so on....

Very good points Kanta... I think that is the key.. There are some songs which are very faintly inspired and the rest is all music composers creativity... I think its not correct to tag such tunes with plagiarism.. while their are other songs from the first note to the last is lifted.... no imagination, no creativity - even the arrangement is not changed... that is plagiarism for sure... And I think that these 2 cases need to be treated differently!

Most importantly = there are composers like Preetam and a few others, who dont even give any credits to these lifts and when caught simply deny the fact! This definitely is a question mark on the integrity of these people towards their profession!!!
