An actor, a dancer and a film maker in future. This Multi talented person is no one else but your very own Manav from Pavitra Rishta. Tellycafe.com caught up with Shushant Singh Rajput on the sets of Pavitra Rishta and below is the summary of the conversation.

Q. Your journey as an actor?
Ans. I started my career as a Theater artist with Barry John in Delhi. After that I joined Shiamak Davar dancing school. I worked with him for 3 years. I did all this while I was doing engineering from Delhi college of engineering. But I dropped engineering after sometime when I realized I like to be on the stage. After that I moved to Mumbai and again did theater with Nadira Babbar and learnt dance from Ashley Lobo for 2 to 3 years. Then I got into direction and assisted Mohit Suri while he was directing Raaz-2. During this time Ekta spotted me and I grabbed the opportunity of being an actor at Balaji Telefilms.
Q. What did you want to be as a child?
Ans. As a child I wanted to be an Air Force Pilot. But then when I started performing on stage for Shiamak Davar, I realized I am more comfortable being on stage. So then I took a call and decided to be in the entertainment industry.
Q. How did Pavitra Rishta happen to you?
Ans. I was doing a role in Kis des main hain mera dil as one of the brothers of Prem. When the show was about to end I decided to move to New York for doing a film making course. But then Balaji Telefims came up with a new show in the form of Pavitra Rishta and offered me the lead role in that. So I took this up and have postponed my film learning dream for sometime in future.
Q. Off late you have been receiving lot of awards? Can we know what all awards have you been felicitated with recently?
Ans. I just received Best Actor award in Gold Awards. Then Best International face and best actor award in an international award function which is held in US and UK sponsored by a company named Explore Software. I have also been awarded the best actor award in ITA awards which were held recently.
Q. We have heard that you are dating your Pavitra Rishta co-star Ankita Lokhande. Is it true?
Ans. Even I have heard of it….hahahaha…..I don't know if it is true or not.
Q. That means you are not dating her?
Ans. Actually I don't know. I am a very shy person. I do not like to talk about my personal life.
Q. Recently it was in news that Ankita had collapsed on the sets and an ambulance had to be kept on the set for her. How did you people manage shooting in such a condition.
Ans. Yes this incident had happenedon the 12th of Novmeber. We were shooting the reunion sequence of Manav and Archana for which we had to shoot continuously for 3 days with very few breaks. This took a toll on her health and she collapsed. But as they say the show must go on, a stand by Ambulance and doctor were always there on the set till we finished completing the shoot. Though Ankita was advised 3 days bed rest but she could take it because it was a high point in the drama. She use to give her shots and take rest in the ambulance during the breaks.

Q. How is she now?
Ans. Oh she is absolutely fine now and working as fit as before.
Q. What is your favorite food?
Ans. I love eating Chinese.
Q. Do you get to eat Chinese food at the sets?
Ans. Ummmm….not really. These days I am not eating Chinese food at all. I am on diet for an upcoming reality show.
Q. And that reality show is Jhalak Dikhlaa Jaa?
Ans. No I didn't say that.
Q. But thorugh our sources we have come to know that both you and Archana are doing the show.
Ans. (Laughs)…..i don't know about Archana. But I haven't signed the contract as yet.
Q. Where do you see yourself after ten years?
Ans. I don't know about ten years, But definitely after I finish doing Pavitra Rishta I will join UCLA ( University of California and Los Angeles) to finish my film making course. If I get another good show then maybe I will act for few more years but y final aim is to learn Film Making.
Q. Now that we know you love making films, which are your favorite Bollywood films?
Ans. Amongst the old movies my favorite is Mother India and in the present times I think Guzzarish has been made very well. I simly loved the screenplay of the movie.
Q. Which is your favorite scene in Pavitra Rishta?
Ans. There is no favorite scene in particular. As the days are passing I am loving my character. Frankly speaking initially I did not like playing the role of Manav. I did not understand him and that is why I could not live the role I was playing. But as the days passed I started relating to the character and enjoying my role. I am really happy with the way the serial is shaping up.
Q. Archana and Manav have separated and come again quite a few times on the show. When are they going to stay together forever?
Ans. Hahahaha…..yes I understand what you are trying to ask me exactly. I don't know what will happen in future but I can tell you that they are going to be together for a long time. They will enjoy their family life. It will be good for the viewers to watch them together.
Q. How do you manage working for so long? Don't you feel stressed after a point.
Ans. Hmmmm……to tell you frankly I have become use to working for 20 hours daily. I keep four hours to myself and rest of the time I have completely dedicated to Pavitra Rishta. I have no choice. This is part and parcel of every actor's life on TV today.
Q. What will you like to tell your Fans?
Ans. I simply love them. It is very inspiring and encouraging when your hard work is appreciated. I take my fans very seriously and promise to deliver more and more entertainment in the coming times. I just hope they keep loving and watching the show as they have been doing for so long.
