Raksha Bandhan - pyara sa Zasbooton ka bandhan

At the time of the Rajsuya yagya, when one of the cousins of Krishna named Shishupal started insulting him, Krishna called his discus the 'Sudarshan Chakra' and killed Shisupal. When the discus returned to his finger, he got a cut and a stream of blood flowed. Draupadi immediately tore a piece from her silk cloth and wrapped it around his finger. Lord saw her in the eyes and told her, "Dear sister, one day I will pay you the debt of each thread of this cloth" and Draupadi smiled.

One day Duryodhan invited all the pandavas to Hastinapur court to play dice with him. By tricks of his evil uncle Shakuni, he made Yudhishthir lose everything including Indraprastha and Draupadi. Duryodhan ordered his brother Dussahasan to bring Draupadi in the court. The evil Dussahasana drags her by hair and brings her in the assembly hall before everyone.Duryodhan asks Dussahasan to strip Draupadi in the hall. When Dussahasana tries to strip Draupadi by pulls her saree, she joins her hands and prays to Krishna, "O my brother, all those who swore to protect me have dejected me, now you are the only hope", and then a miracle happens. As Dussahasana unwraps layers and layers of her sari, her sari keeps getting extended. Thus Lord Krishna saves the honour of her sister.


Relation to CB: Today being festival of Rakshabandhan, feeling very nostalgic, I just thought of sharing my thoughts with you about pyara sa bandhan between the brother and sister of our choti bahu --- Radhika and our own Birju Bhaiyya. I was hoping that CV's use this occasion to show the beautiful bond, but since they did not. I thought of sharing my take on this.............

Radhika doing puja and Arti of Kunj Bihari. Then after the arti, speaking to herself that today being Raksha bandhan, she is going to tie to her Devar, who has been her strength like Lakshman, brother like Krishna was to Draupadi and sevak like Hanuman to his Ram and Sita...recollecting her times when she first saw him, to him finding about her being Dream girl of his Dev Bhaiiyya....sharing her pain silently, when Dev falls sick and then is angry when he finds out that Birju was holding the secret of Radhika......And how much pain and suffering he had undergone for her family when Dev was not around..How he stood like rock and supported the family.........Recollectig all that, she is feeling quite emotional.....Just then Birju comes to give tea to everyone....Then Radhika calls out her Birju bhaiyya ad asks him to sit on the sofa, in the hall, where every one is seated (like Dadi, Vivek and Vaishali), Kanika.....
When Birju comes and asks what is it.....she makes him sit on the sofa, while Rajjan comments that how come servant sits on the sofa in purohit bhavan.....To which Radhika gently replies, that Birju is brother of hers and beta of the family....Dev looks at Rajjan angrily, scared Rajjan looks down and is scared of Dev and hence quiet......everyone looks at them.........While Birju feels so touched.....Holding his hand, she makes him sit down, puts tika on his forehead (Behana ne bhai ki kalai per pyaar banda hain song is playing) and let her tie the Rakhi.....Now Birju has tears in his eyes......And she goes on talking about how family is lucky to have him.....and it is God's gift to have such a brother......Dev is overhearing al this, and touched to see this relationship........Everyone in the household is so touched....and
when Radhika feeds him with sweets, there is smile on Dadi's and Vaishali's face....and tears in Birju's eyes......And he simply says, it is only my bahuji and bhaiyya who can love me so much......And Radhika replies that just like Sri Krishna wen he was hurt, Draupadi tied apiece of cloth around him and he became his broher, like wise Birju is her brother for a life time, even though he is not her blood related brother......and how she will pray to Kanha that how she wants Dev as her husband in every janam, she wants Birju as her Bhaiyya in every janam..................Birju folds his hand with tears in his eyes, and silently prays to Kanha and Dev justs silently hugs his friend, his brother - our Dear Birju Bhaiyya....................

Most sacred and blessed relationship is between a brother and a sister. A brother has to protect her sister. He is always bound and remains indebted to the love of a sister. Even if the husband of a women dejects her, his brother will not, because he has to pay the debt of every thread of love wrapped around his hand. That's the beauty of Rakshabandhan. Blessed are those men who have a sister and more blessed are those who make someone a sister. It is not just the blood relations, but relations made with heart, where the emotions are invested are truly unique..............

Somewhere in my mind I was hoping that Radhika would tie a Raakhi to Birju.... but that di not happen:( You have put the entire scene so beautifully. Only if the CV's had your's and many more writers on this forums views.... CB would have been on another level!
