Sangini to launch on August 16th at 10 PM slot

Zee TV's much talked about love story, Sanjog Se Bani Sangini will take the 10 PM slot, and in all probabilty Karol Bagh will get pushed to the 7 PM slot..

Zee TV is now getting things in place for the big launch of their much talked about love story, Sanjog Se Bani Sangini. This show produced by DJ's Creative Unit brings Iqbal Khan yet again to television after a hiatus of two long years. An out-and-out love story, Sangini is the tale of a guy Rudra (Iqbal Khan) who fails to get his childhood love Pihu, played by Additi Gupta and takes to alcohol. At this point of time, enters Gauri (Binny Sharma) into his life like a breath of fresh air.

The channel and production house are busy shooting for their outdoor schedules at Haridwar and at the Pataudi Palace in Delhi. Sanjog Se Bani Sangini will launch on August 16th at the 10 PM slot.

According to our source, "In all probability, Sunshine Productions' 12/24 Karol Bagh which presently airs at the 10 PM slot will be moved to the 7 PM slot that is vacant. The channel has great expectations out of Sangini and is leaving no stone unturned to give the show a memorable launch".

Our khabroo adds on, "Karol Bagh's ratings have also picked up of late. And going by this, it looks as though the channel will not decide to end the show. Instead, they might move the show to the early evening slot".

We tried calling Producer of Karol Bagh Sudhir Sharma, but he remained unavailable.

Our efforts to get a confirmation from Tony Singh on the time slot of Sangini were in vain too.

Sangini has an interesting cast starting from Aroona Irani, Deepak Qazir, Sudha Chandran, Iqbal Khan, Additi Gupta, Binny Sharma, Raunaq Ahuja, Rushad Rana and many others..

Anjali's cold feet give Additi the push!

Anjali Abrol develops cold feet while Additi Gupta takes the chance for DJ's Creative Unit and Zee's upcoming show

Tellybuzz has been extensively reporting on DJ's Creative Unit and Zee's upcoming show tentatively titled Sanjini based on the classic love-story of Devdas. We had reported that Additi Gupta of Kis Desh fame was the original choice for portraying the character based on Paro. However the actress at that time had rejected the role. The offer was later made to Anjali Abrol who was last seen in Raja Ki Ayegi Baraat.

The latest lowdown is that Anjali has declined the offer as she happens to feel that more of prominence is being given to the character based on Chandramukhi which is portrayed by Binny Sharma.

When contacted, Anjali confirmed the news saying, "I'm not doing this show because when I heard narration of the script I felt that the other female lead would get more screen space. This prompted me to refuse the role."

Though fans of Anjali Abrol may feel sad, Additi Gupta's fans have reason to rejoice as the actress has accepted the role and even started shooting.

Additi Gupta confirms the news saying, "Yes, I am playing this role in Zee and Creative Unit's upcoming show. The character is very different from what I've done before. The girl is egoistic just because she's got everything she's wished for in life. I have started shooting for the show."

As we know Zee TV has come up with a very unique and interactive campaign wherein the viewers can send in their favorite titles for the show. The promo for the same is on air. However, the promo for Sanjini shows only Binny Sharma and Iqbal Khan. There is no mention of the second female lead. It is being speculated that, it is this promo that gave cold feet to Anjali Abrol. Probably Additi found some spark in the show, some conviction that her role won't be sidelined after all which convinced her sign up for it.

We can only hope that Additi made the right decision and gets the deserved screen time!

Zee's adaptation of Devdas gets more big names

Veteran actors like Rushad Rana, Iqbal Khan and Sudha Chandran will play pivotal roles in Zee TV and DJ Creative unit's adaptation of Devdas tentatively titled 'Sangini'…

Zee TV is now eager to bring in few new shows to stay in the TRP race. While Rajita Sharma's soft romantic show is one, the other will be the so called adaptation of Devdas to be produced by DJ's Creative Unit.

Tentatively titled 'Sangini' the story of DJ's upcoming show will be based on a guy's life who cannot get married to his childhood sweetheart. This agony gets him addicted to alcohol after which his life completely changes.

As reported exclusively by Tellybuzz that Iqbal Khan, Binny Sharma and Anjali Abrol play the leads in the show while Aruna Irani will play the mother of male lead.

Rushad Rana who was last seen playing a cameo in Dil Mil Gaye will be a part of this Zee show. Trishna, Deepak Qazir and Sudha Chandran are the prominent faces in the show.

As per our source, "Rushad Rana will be playing role of Iqbal's elder brother. He is a miserly character who is calculative in terms of money. Trishna who is presently seen in Sahara One's show 'Shorr' will play his wife and Bahu of the house. Veteran actor Deepak Qazir plays the grandfather of Iqbal and Rushad's character. Iqbal Aziz who was seen in Sajan Ghar Jaana Hai will play the role of Aruna Irani's husband. Sudha Chandran has been finalized to play Dai-Ma of the female lead."

When contacted, Rushad Rana confirmed the news, "Yes in this serial I'm enacting the role of Iqbal's elder brother and I'm playing a full fledged role after a gap of 3 years."

Trishna
too accepted that she is part of the serial, "I play wife of Rushad Rana's character and mine is a very positive role."

Our Khabroo tells us that, "The cast has recently shot for the promos of the serial. The first outdoor schedule is to take place in Haridwar after which the unit will shoot another schedule in Delhi. The channel is very upbeat about the serial and aims to get it on air without any further delays."

The show is expected to launch in last week of August or early September.

DJ's Creative Unit find their Paro in Anjali Abrol..

DJ's Creative Unit have found the actress to play Paro in the untitled show on Zee TV, which is an adaptation of Devdas..

DJ's Creative Unit has finally zeroed in on the lead faces to essay the roles of Devdas, Paro and Chandramukhi in their adaptation of Devdas for Zee TV.

Our readers will very well remember that TellyBuzz had given exclusive information on the part of cast finalized for the show. We had said that Iqbal Khan is all set to portray the Devdas of television while Binny Sharma of Dance India Dance fame has been roped in to essay Chandramukhi's role.

Additi Gupta was offered the role of Paro initially, but the actress expressed her displeasure in doing it. And now the production house and channel have got their Paro in Anjali Abrol who was seen last in Raja Ki Ayegi Baraat.

A little birdie tells us, "Anjali Abrol has been finalized to play Paro. Her simple yet royal look in her earlier show on Star Plus has caught the eye of DJ's Creative Unit. The production house feels that Anjali fits perfectly in the role of Paro, and the actress has also given her nod for the role".

As reported earlier, the show will see veteran actor Aroona Irani playing the male lead's mother.

We tried contacting Anjali, but she remained unavailable.

Now that the show has got its lead faces, the production house and channel expect to start shoot very soon. The show will launch in August at a prime time slot.

Guess this is a welcome news for fans of Anjali!!

Iqbal Khan to play Devdas on Zee TV; Binny Sharma gets first break

DJ's Creative Unit and Zee TV join together to give the audience an adaptation of Devdas..

Who can forget the epitome of a character that Dilip Kumar played when he portrayed Devdas in Bimal Roy's evergreen classic? Or even Sanjay Leela Bhansali's version of the modern Devdas in Shahrukh Khan?

Well, the latest is that DJ's Creative Unit is working on an adaptation of Devdas, and this time it will be on the small screen!! And if sources are to be believed, the handsome hunk Iqbal Khan who has been missing from the limelight after Zee TV's Waaris is all set to play this epitome character on television'

According to our khabroo, "The cast for the untitled show is almost finalized, and Deeya and Tony are making this show for Zee TV. Iqbal Khan will be playing the lead role, while Binny Sharma of Dance India Dance fame has been finalized for the role of Chandramukhi".

Additi Gupta of Kis Desh Mein Hai Meraa Dil fame has been offered the role of Paro, but we hear that the actor has not given her nod yet for the same.

A little birdie also told us, "Talented veteran actor Aroona Irani has been finalized to play the male lead's mother in the show".

When contacted, Aroona Irani confirmed the news and said, "Yes, I am doing this show for Zee TV. It is a very nice role, which I wanted to do at any cost. For this, I have even rejected two or three other offers that came my way".

We tried calling Iqbal Khan and even sent him a text message, but did not get any revert. We also tried calling Binny Sharma, but she remained unavailable.

When contacted, Additi Gupta said, "Yes, I was offered this show. But I am not doing it".

We hear that the creative team plans to wrap up with the casting process very soon, and if all goes well, aims to start shoot in a week or so. The show is expected to take a prime time slot on Zee TV, and will launch in August.

We also tried getting a confirmation from Producer Tony Singh, and sent him a text too, but did not get any response.

What say folks? Are you game to watching 'Devdas' on the small screen now??

Today's shows do not have strong roles for male characters- Iqbal Khan

Iqbal Khan who makes a comeback with Zee TV's Sanjog Se Bani Sangini in conversation with TellyBuzz..

Iqbal Khan with his trademark guitar created waves when he was introduced in Kaisa Yeh Pyaar Hai. The handsome hunk has carved a niche for himself ever since, and is now all set to stage a comeback to television after a hiatus of two years.

Here is Iqbal in a conversation with TellyBuzz wherein he talks of his forced break from TV for past two years, his experience shooting for a short film, about his new show on Zee TV and much more..

Tell us something about your character in your comeback show on Zee, Sanjog Se Bani Sangini..
Rudr is a man of few words; he is an angry guy who is in love. He has a fear of losing his love, so is a bit sensitive too.

What were you doing for the past two years?
Frankly speaking, I have not been doing anything for the past two years. There was nothing interesting happening in my life. And I am not a type of guy who will want to be in the limelight saying, 'tyre puncture hogaya, kutta beemar ho gaya'. Apart from that I traveled a lot, both in and out of India, wrote stuff, even made a short film and showcased it in many film festivals.

Could you tell us something about your short film?

Yes I made a short film that was directed and scripted by me. I even acted in the same. It was titled 'Screw that Grass on the other side'. It's a mockery of people who think that life in hills, villages and small towns is much better than life in metros and vice versa. For this film I shot in the beautiful locales of Kashmir, Delhi, Chandigarh, Kasauli etc. I was even supposed to go to the Indian Film Festival, but things didn't work out, as I have begun shooting for the show.

And what was the idea behind it?
It was more out of self-interest. It is only when you work behind the camera, you get to know a lot of things about the pre-production and post-production stuff. Also, you get a hands-on experience of managing the whole process. So, it was just to gain experience. A lot of money went in to it, and we shot some good stuff.

Why did you take a break from television?
It was not intentional. My journey in TV had started way back, and in this span of time shows have changed from the regular soaps to the ones carrying a social message. It also needed the actors to work on different languages and dialects. Even though that was a welcome change, I thought I didn't fit in there. Above all, I don't think that today's shows have a strong role for male characters.

There has lot been written about Sangini being a Devdas. Can your character be compared to the iconic one?
See, the fact that guy takes up to drinking after losing his love is a very small point. I don't think that it should even be compared to Devdas. Actually in the show, the guy loves a girl who ditches him. He then takes to drinking after which another girl comes into his life. Sangini comes across as a very regular story, and you cannot put it into the Devdas category.

Tell us something about the characters in the show?
The main character is very brutal, he's a rich man and Aroona Irani is playing the mother's role. The family, especially the mom and dad, have always neglected their son Rudr. The father is always busy taking care of his business, while the mother is always busy doing stuff of her own. Everything is related to business whether it's relationship or love. So, my character is deprived of love and longs for it.

What about Binny Sharma your co-actor, how is the experience working with her?
Binny is a good actor; she doesn't come across as a newcomer at all. She is pretty good, much better than how I was in my first show.

Tell us something about the locations where the shooting for the show took place?

Yeah, we have been shooting all over the place; we shot in Haridwar, Hrishikesh, Mussorrie, Haryana, Delhi, Saputara ' a place in Gujarat and many more.

Will we see you hosting a show in the near future?
I am not a very loud person; I can't really anchor a show. I don't see myself doing that.

And what about reality shows, will you ever participate in any?
Actually I am a very private person, and also very shy. The problem is not with the reality shows, it is just that I cannot do it because of the nature I have.

Are you a football fan?

I am not a football fan at all. Although, I used to play a lot of football in school, so much so that during summers we were forced to be on field and it was extremely tiring.

How have you managed to keep yourself fit in the past two years?

Since childhood, I have loved to maintain myself and aim to be fit always. I love to workout even now.

What do you do when you are free?
When I am working, I work with all my sincerity and honesty. But during my free time I do whatever my wife wishes me to do.

Tell us one thing that nobody knows about you?

I am a very shy person, and that I love dogs and my wife hates them.

Hold On!! It's the wrong boy on shoot

In a funny incident, Zee TV and DJ's Creative Unit accidentally took a wrong boy to Hardiwar to shoot the child hood sequences of the male protagonist.

Zee TV's soon to be launched love story Sanjog Se Bani Sangini had a rather comic start to their shooting schedule organized in Haridwar, wherein DJ's Creative Unit is presently shooting the childhood sequences of the protagonists Rudra and Pihu.

According to a source, when the production house and channel sat to audition the boy who will play the lead actor
Iqbal Khan's childhood version, a major blooper happened. The role was to be played by a boy named Rishabh. However due to some confusion, a wrong boy with the same name was flown to Haridwar for the shoot.

Our khabroo says, "This misunderstanding happened as the casting had taken place over the phone. The creative's realized their mistake after some scenes were shot. Immediately the wrong boy was given a return air ticket to Mumbai, and they got in touch with the right boy, who did not even know that the shooting was taking place, as they did not have any face to face meetings with him. The correct Rishabh was then flown to Haridwar and the scenes were reshot".

Besides other actors, the wrong boy supposedly shot scenes with veteran actress,
Aroona Irani as well. However, when contacted, Aroona ji denied that any shooting had taken place. "We came to know about the mistake at the right time and hence asked for the real Rishabh. Such funny incidents do take place in life".

Aroona ji when pushed on the matter of re-shooting said "It might have happened with other actors but not with me."

We tried to get in touch with the Producers Deeya and Tony Singh for the same, but they did not respond.

Well, we just hope the creative team does not end up doing a bigger blunder than this.

Sunday Retreat with Additi Gupta

08 August 2010 | 11:42am 408 Comments

Additi Gupta shares her perfect Sunday, her routine and much more with TellyBuzz..

At what time do you rise and shine on a Sunday?

Honestly in our profession, the day we are not shooting is a Sunday. So all depends on when we pack up the previous night.

First thing you do on a Sunday morning?
Watch TV, check which movies are listed for the day.

What's your regular Sunday routine?
Just be around in the house like a lazy human (smiles), pampering myself, going shopping and at times spending time with family.

But the funny part is that whenever I'm at home I keep myself glued to the TV, watching movies. My parents don't even get the feel of the remote and get annoyed, and by the end of the day they themselves force me to go out of the house (laughs).

What includes your Sunday Brunch?
Recently I have started liking the entire idea of eating; I have quick bites at regular intervals. With this habit, I'm gaining a lot of weight, but resisting the sight of food is just next to impossible these days (smiles).

Do you plan your own Sundays or just follow what you have been told to?
Till date I have never planned anything in my life, not even my career prospects. The other side of the coin is that whenever I plan things, something or the other goes wrong and it doesn't work out.

Do you wish there were two Sundays in a week?
Yes why not, two offs in a week means double relaxation, double shopping and that is a very important activity in a girl's life.

What's your dream way of spending a Sunday?

I have never been to Goa till date. So my dream Sunday would be to spend 2-3 days in Goa and just relax with no tension.

If not Sunday what would you rename that day of the week?
(smiles) I think I would aptly rename it as Shopping Day or Self Pampering Day.

What's more exciting for you, Sunday or Saturday night's?
I'm not a party person, so at times looking at my routine my friends push me to party with them, so for me it's a mix of both.

Which other day of the week is equally exciting to you as a Sunday?
I can tell you the most boring day (smiles). When I was in school I never liked waking up early in the morning, going to school and I believe that was the case with many of us. So I think for me all the days are just perfect or equivalent to a Sunday, if I have nothing to do.

What's your take on going for dinner on Sundays after waiting in a long queue?
First option, I won't go or else I would make a prior reservation. But personally I would love to have ghar ka Khana and specially Aloo ka Paratha, I love it a lot these days.

Do you dedicate your Sunday for someone special?

I don't have any one special as of now.

Memorable Sunday you had?

Hmm…in our childhood every Sunday we used to have a Dal- Baati session, it's a special malwa dish. We used to have light breakfast and then for lunch have lots of Dal Baati with family; it used to get so heavy that we used to just fall into bed and not wake up before 6-7 in the evening. After getting up, we used to watch TV, have a meal for dinner and then sleep off. It used to be so amazing, just eat and sleep the entire day.

The craziest thing you would want to do on a Sunday morning?
Normally after a stressful week, people prefer not waking up early. So on a Sunday morning I would want to go and ring the door bell of the people whom I don't like, that too at 5 in the morning and run away (laughs).

If Sunday didn't exist, then what would you do?
I think if we never had a Sunday we wouldn't have missed it that much. But now we have got so used to it that we have become spoilt brats and crave for a leave even on Saturdays.

"If I Get Into Relationship, I Will Not Ditch That Person": Additi Gupta

Additi Gupta will be seen on Zee TV's upcoming venture 'Sanjog Se Bani Sangini' as Pihu. When we asked Additi to describe her on-screen character, she was a bit confused initially. Then gradually she described different shades of her character and its similarities and differences with her own personality to TellyCafe.

"On-screen characters are always different from what you are in actual life. I was never Heer before I did 'Kis Des Mein Hai Meraa Dil' and even now with 'Sangini' I am playing a totally different character. It almost took three months for me to get into the character as the role was new for me. But now after shooting for the show, I have come to know exactly what the character is", says Additi.

So in these three months what similarities and differences you have come across with your on-screen and off-screen persona? "There are many differences like she is egoistic which I feel I am not in my actual life. She is very typical kind of a girl who expects lot from her boyfriend which again I am not. And when it comes to similarity than Pihu don't like to hurt anyone and so do I. And last but not the least, like Pihu if I get into some relationship, I won't ditch that person. I will love him till the end of my life. I will be 100 percent involved in it. That again, in turn, means I won't hurt him", explains Additi.

We wish you all the best for your new venture Additi!
