Hearing the pitter patter of rain coming down heavily on the roof Muskaan wakes up.
She notices she had fallen asleep in the chair itself masaging her shoulders.
Looking at the clock on the wall she notices that she has been sleeping for a long time, it's already 9 in the night.
As she is getting out of bed she hears her father screaming from the adjacent room, forgetting her duppatta Muskaan rushes over to see what the problem is.
Seeing her father leaning against the bed clutching his heart, Muskaan runs up to him.
"Baba.. baba.. kya hua?"
"Mu.. Muskaan.."
Muskaan rushes to bring the inhaler that is laying on his dresser.
"Baba, yeh.. yeh lijiye"
Muskaan holds up the inhaler to his mouth. But that has no avail.
As the time passes by baba's breathing gets faster and faster.
Tears running down her face Muskaan tries everything she has learnt in the past years at med school, but she doesn't have the full training nor the correct equipment.
Reaching for the phone Muskaan tries to reach the doctor, but to her dismay the phone lines are dead due to the heavy downpour.
Not knowing what to do, Muskaan places her father carefully on the bed. Covering him, Muskaan rushes out the door to get the doctor herself.
Not finding any auto Muskaan runs the whole way.
"Dr.Joshi.. Dr.Joshi.." Muskaan shouts knocking the door.
As the door swings open Muskaan starts trying to explain her dilemma to the man in front of her.
"Dr. Sahib.. mere baba.. woh saas nahi le paa rahe hai..aap please aake ek baar dekh lijiye."
"I'm sorry, par main nahi aasakti. It's quite late and baarish bohut ho rahi hai."
"Par doctor ji, mere baba saas nahi le paa rahe hai, ek baar aake dekhliye na please" Muskaan begs.
"No mam. Sorry, I don't have time for it right now." he says shutting the door on her face.
"Aap kis tarah ke doctor hai? Wahan ek patient ki jaan jaa rahi hai, aur aap bahar nahi niklenge kyuki baarish gir rahi hai? Sharam aani chahiye aapko."
"Excuse me miss. Aap zara awaz kam kar ke baat kijiye. And who are you to teach me what is right or now? Now leave before I call the police." with that he shuts the door on Muskaan's face.
Dejected, Muskaan runs back home. Seeing baba's condition worsening she feels helpless.
Running up the stairs she runs upto Rizwan.
"Rizwan ji, please aap meri madat kijiye, baba ko..."
"Kya hua baba ko?"
Not getting a reply from Muskaan. Rizwan catches her by her shoulders.
"Muskaan batao baba ko kya hua?"
"Baba saans nahi le paa rahe hai"
"Doctor ko bulaya tumne?" Rizwan asks rushing down the stairs.
"Main gayi thi bulane, par nahi aarahe hai?"
"Kya??" Rizwan shouts in frustration. "Acha tum yahan baba ke paas ruko, aur main doctor ko leke aata hoon."
"Aage baaye mudh ke teesra ghar hai. Dr.Joshi." Muskaan shouts behind Rizwan's dissapearing figure.
Reaching the house Rizwan begins banging on the door.
"Kaun hai itne raat ko?"
"Dr.Joshi?"
"Haan, main hi hoon."
"Aap chaliye mere saath?"
"Kya? Par kahan?"
"Aap chaliye main batata hoon."
"Yeh kya zabardasti hai?"
"Wahan ek patient ki jaan jaa rahi hai, aap please aayiye"
"Oh toh uss ladki ne ab tumhe bheja? Maine pehle bhi kaha aur ab bhi keh raha hoon, abhi main nahi aasakta."
Rizwan turns around frustrated.
Just as Dr.Joshi begins closing the door, Rizwan forces it open and holds a gun to Dr.Joshi's head.
"Ab chaliye."
"Yeh kya pagal pan hai?"
"Yeh pagal pan nahi insaaniyat hai, jo lagta hai aap bhul gaye" Rizwan says pulling along Dr.Joshi with him back to Amin's house.
As Rizwan arrives with the doctor Muskaan moves aside so the doctor can carry out the correct procedure.
After giving Nawaz a shot of anesthesia to lower the pulse, the doctor prescribes some medicines, handing the paper to Muskaan he walks.
"Arey Dr.Joshi apki.." seeing him leave Muskaan turns back around.
"Fees lena bhul gaye"
"Kal de dena" Rizwan says sitting next to baba.
Feeling slightly releive Muskaan goes to get a cloth and some water for baba.
Sitting on the other side of baba, wipes the sweat off baba's face. Dipping the cloth in the water she presses it to baba's head.
As she continues, she feels pain in her shoulders.
Noticing the pain in her face, Rizwan reaches out to take the cloth from her.
"Mujhe do, main kardeta hoon."
"Nahi.. it's ok.."
Rizwan snatches the cloth from her hand and continues pressing the cloth to baba's head.
Looking at Muskaan's slightly annoyed face, Rizwan slightly smirks.
"Tumhe baat ek baar main samajh main nahi aati na?"
"Kya?"
"Dekho phirse! Ek baar main sunti ho kya?" Rizwan says smiling.
"Nahi.. aise koi baat nahi hai" Muskaan says looking down.
Looking back up, seeing his smiling face, Muskaan can't help but smile.
"Aap haste hue ache lagte hai"
Rizwan looks up at Muskaan, as their eyes meet for a brief moment.
"Aap mujhe bilkul pasand nahi karte na?"
"Nahi, aise baat nahi hai. Bas mujhe logon se baat karne ki utni adat nahi hai."
"Par.. par Azhar uncle toh bohut baatein karte hai, baba aur woh mile toh kissi aur ki baat sunte hi nahi."
Rahul realizes that he is Rizwan, and he needs to act like him.
"Haan.. woh.. baba bohut baat karte hai, par main utna nahi."
"Acha, shukar hai abhi toh aapki baatein sun ne ko mili. Mujhe laga aap sirf chillate hai" Muskaan smiles.
"Oh.. sorry aaj subah ke liye, main pata nahi kyu.."
"It's ok. Aap nahi hote toh pata nahi baba ko kya hota."
"Yeh toh mera farz hai" Rizwan says looking towards baba.
"Waise, aapne uss doctor ko kaise manaya aane ke liye?" Muskaan asks suddenly.
"Zyaada nahi, bas ussi basha main bola joh unhe samajh main aaye"
Moving off the bed Rizwan sits on a chair closeby.
As the night goes on Rizwan and Muskaan stay beside baba.
As the clock chimes 2am, Muskaan looks up to find Rizwan dozing off on the chair.
Muskaan continues to look at Rizwan as he continuosly shifts in his chair, trying to find a comfortable position.
"Yeh nahi hote, toh pata nahi aaj kya hojata" Muskaan thinks to herself.
Continuing looking at Rizwan, Muskaan doesn't realize when she dozes off.
