Pritam Chakraborty



Pritam Chakraborty, or Pritam as he is more commonly known, is a singer, Music Director and Composer. Music runs in the blood of this Bengali; his dad Prabodh Chakraborty runs a music school for children, and was his first teacher.

While at college he formed a band called "Jotugriher Pakhi", and later on was a part of another Bengali band named "Chandrabindoo". In 1993 he joined the prestigious Film and Television Institute of India, Pune.

Career as a Music Composer:
• Pritam started off by composing music for a Tollywood film, Samudram (1999).

• In 2000 he composed the music of Tere Liye. The film flopped, but his songs were noticed and appreciated.

• 2 years later he got the chance to compose for Mere Yaar Ki Shaadi Hai (2002). The songs were a hit.

• Some of his other noteworthy compositions have been for films like Dhoom (2004), Chocolate (2005), Garam Masala (2005), Gangster (2006), Bas Ek Pal (2006), Pyaar Ke Side Effects (2006), Woh Lamhe (2006), Dhoom-2 (2006), Life in a Metro (2007), Awarapan (2007), Bhool Bhulaiyaa (2007), Jab We Met (2007), Dus Kahaniyaan (2007), Race (2008), Jannat: In Search of Heaven (2008), Singh is Kinng (2008), Golmaal Returns (2008), New York (2009), Love Aajkal (2009) and Dil Bole Hadippa (2009).

• He has also composed for 2 films due to release in 2009, Fauj Mein Mauj and Once Upon a Time in Mumbai.

• Apparently he is the music composer of a 2010 film, rumored to have Akshay Kumar in the lead role. The film is titled Khatta Meetha.

As a Singer:
Pritam has sung for some of his own compositions in movies like Dhoom, Garam Masala, Ek Khiladi Ek Haseena (2005), Dhoom-2, Life in a Metro, Race, Jannat, Singh is Kinng, New York, Dil Bole Hadippa.

As a Music Director:

Pritam was the Music Director of films like Dhoom, Life in a Metro and Race.

Since, Pritam will be coming on Indian Idol as a mentor, to guide the top 12 singers. I thought why not we all recall, his hit songs and compositions. We all love his songs one or the other. So, lets appreciate this HIT Music Director and his work.

Ah, who could not appreciate this connoisseur of copycatting? He has ripped off probably more songs than he has ever spoken Hindi words.He hasn't left any stone unturned to write successful copied songs. Now THAT is something that deserves rounds of applause!!! 👏 👏 👏

Pritam is ofcourse one of the best MD's in India. My favourite songs of would be all songs from Race, then all jab we met songs, Bhoolbulaya, then my all time favourite Teri ore, & recently I loved songs from APKGK.

Absolutely! I love his songs from Race and Teri Ore is magically beautiful song.. 😍

Although I have loved pritam songs, but I do agree with you on this. Songs like pehli nazar & zara zara touch me were copied fromTaiwanese-American singer Lee-hom who filed a suit claiming that "Zara Zara Touch Me" was too similar to the song "Deep in the Bamboo Grove". But these things are quite common everywhere. The MD's donot say they have copied but say that they are inspired.

No the full form is Ajab prem ki gazab kahani, I used short form coz its boring to write such a big name.

LOL.. I'm gonna tell my teacher that I copied at my tests.. 😳 😛 😆
Not only this Shreya, his "Kaho Na Kaho" .. "Ada" were copied.. Ouch And these are the only ripped off songs that I know.. wonder how many more songs of his are "inspired".. 😕
