Jaspal--
I like your post and I cannot agree with you more. Perhaps, creativity is too risky, especially in India, where tried and true will work now, 20 years from now, and 50 years from now. Why rock the boat?
I honestly believe that as fans, we are trying to amuse ourselves and express ourselves with our posts rather than expecting any serious changes to EVER, EVER happen.
When drama becomes comedy on a show, then it's hard not to laugh at the farce.
I think we are a very fun, creative forum. So I hope our opinions, criticisms, and fun continues, even at the expense of characters and CVs. It's all good, clean fun, as they say, right, all?
Regarding good acting, yes both actors are good. My hope--make that DESPERATE hope--is that they animate Abha. I get her problems, I don't get her decisions. And the funniest thing on this show, aside from the track lack of speed, is Abha's immobile face, UTTER fear of people finding out she's married. I spend more time rolling my eyes at the character and hitting the forward button on the video, and lo and behold! 2 minutes later, she has that same expression on. I look at the time on the video, and yes, I did actually fast forward it. They are doing Suhasi a great disservice as an actress-- her character is a feeble, mute, irritating character (named Abha no less) whose face is immobile; she says nothing, does nothing, but stare. Vaah, she is the IDEAL Indian woman!
Plus, if your father asked you to marry someone you could NOT imagine being married to, let alone touching, would you really go to these ABSURD extremes? It's like Moliere's plays on crack. And you're married already! I am laughing, and laughing at those limited CVs right now!
I don't think any of us honestly expect reality or creativity. Let's look at Bollywood--most ideas were (and to some degree still are) really poorly executed copies of American movies and ideas. But on a 10 year lag. However, once in a while, the TV industry should trailblaze -- you know, once every 20 years with at LEAST one innovative show that shows something wrong with a girl marrying a guy for her father's jollies (and of course safety....). As Suhasi mentioned, she's not happy but everybody else is. And her character is the one who has to live with the unhappiness. So abusurd...I feel Moliere turning over in his grave!
But it works with the public, and so it must continue. And so must our amusement and exercise of our creative and comedic talents as a forum! I figure if the show can't do it, then we should.
🤣
Abha, BTW, is a name of strength, associated with Parvati, strong, right and good. It is a complete misnomer for our Abha. Her new family should change her name...can you recommend one more fitting?
