Pond's White Beauty Ad - What Were They Thinking?! - Page 2

I was extremely disappointed and pissed when PC did this ad. She shouldn't have done it for sure. I had lost a bit of respect that I had for her. But then she did say in an interview that the ad sent out the wrong message. It was supposedly meant to bring a "pinkish" glow on your face. Still, for me that seemed like an excuse to the criticism she recieved. I think even she regretted doing it. It was kind of obvious from her expression when I saw the interview. Later, she clarified saying that she wouldn't endorse the product anymore.

I was glad that she stopped endorsing it and she did realize her mistake. I would probably lost all the respect for her if she had defended her actions, but she didn't.

You may think that being a PC fan, I am defending her and I am biased. But I just want to say that what PC did was very, very wrong.

I am shocked by the ad, I really hate fairness creams it sends the wrong message.

It is sad to see dusky beauties who make it big in their brown skin go on to endorse whitening products. Priyanka, Sushmita, Kajol, Sonam, Deepika all are loved for what they are. I don't think people care if they become overnight whitewashed "beauties".

Most of the top Indian female actors are dusky. I can just think of Aishwarya, Kareena and Katrina in the fair league among today's crop of actors and even them endorsing such a product is not justified.

I think Kareena is the only one who didn't endorse any such products till now. Hope she never will.

I know they get paid huge amounts still it is something they can easily say NO to. Even today dark skin is a bane in our society and it affects middle class/ lower middle class girls the most. Women from upper strata of the society don't really care. They can afford all the whitening facials. These products are directed at girls who actually cannot afford it and are made to feel even worse.

I hope our female actors stop endorsing such products and where are our women's organizations who raise voices for so many things but keep quiet at such times.

I hate these kinda ads...we all know that it doesnt work and its even more disappointing that a famous actress is doing this ad. there is also an ad of asin similar to this.
