My Name Is Khan which was expected to release this year now looks to have a release in the second quarter (April-June) of next year. Initially the expectations were of a February 2010 release.
The film is being shot presently in New York which was expected to be the last schedule but the film will only be 80% complete after this schedule with portions which are to be shot in India still remaining. So it is likely that it will be around October when shooting of this Red Chillies (Shahrukh Khan) and Dharma (Karan Johar) co-production will be complete.
This means that 2009 will be the first year that King Khan will not have a full fledged release since he entered the industry with Deewana in 1992. Fans of Shahrukh Khan may get to see him in an extended guest appearance in Dulha Mil Gaya if that film manages to release this year. Shahrukh Khan fans may be happier in 2011 as he could have three releases that year starting with Happy New Year, followed by Don 2 and then his super hero production Ra One directed by Anubhav Sinha.
