Part 3

Ayesha had heard her mother thanking Lord Rama with contentment.

"Maa, is the decision made already?" asked Ayesha.

"Ayesha, it is the first time the boy's side is not concerned with Prachi being a manglik or this home running without a man's support. I did tell Mishraji about your father briefly. He didn't make anything an issue. He was very positive. He wanted to ask Milind one final time and go ahead with the wedding preparations. But since it was Milind who wanted to see Prachi in the first place, I think it should be a good news for us beta" Premlatha had said with excitement shining in her eyes.

"But Maa, what about di? Do you not want to ask her if she is happy to marry him?" Ayesha had asked.

"Yes Maa, I don't know if Prachi di will like him. I just didn't feel like he was Prachi di's type" added Soumya.

"Why do you think so darlings? He is well educated and well settled. I actually think Prachi would be lucky to get a husband like him. If this wedding happens, I will not have to worry about my other two daughters' weddings" Premlatha had stopped as she saw Prachi standing in the door.

"Di, what did you think of the boy?" Soumya had said as she put her arms around her Prachi's shoulder. Prachi had stood like a statue leaning on to the door.

"Prachi, I can understand what you are going through. It's a huge decision in your life. Your must be feeling very confused. But your mother's heart says this relationship is going to be good for you and good for your sisters. However, I don't want to force anything on you my darling. Think over it and let me know your decision" Premlatha kissed her daughter's forehead. Prachi nodded her head in agreement.

Prachi hardly spoke anything after that and later in the evening went to her music teacher who was teaching her evening batch of students. She took the Tanpura from her teacher's hand and joined her in singing raga Shree, her favourite evening raga. The soulful notes had toned her turmoil down making her feel much calmer. Walking back to home, she had crossed the village temple and something made her turn back and go inside the temple. Sitting in the prayer area, she made her mind think sense.

Prachi knew how desperately her mother had wanted her to get married. She knew if she married, life would be easier; future would be better for her two sisters and her mother. They will have another family to call their own and being connected to the respectable Mishra family would only be a strength in every sense. Moreover, this was the only time someone seemed ready to marry her ignoring her manglik status and not questioning about her father. It was also the first time a boy had asked her if she wanted to marry him, while all the other boys had only said they didn't want to marry her. It also crossed Prachi's mind that why this rich family wanted her that too without any condition. However, the logical part of her brain told her that she shouldn't let go this opportunity that was going to end many of the miseries her family faced if not all.

As she joined her two sisters in the bed that night, in which they all would sleep along with their mother, Soumya had put her arm on her whispering in her ear "Prachi di, did you like the boy?" Prachi had said nothing but sighed.

Ayesha had rolled over Soumya to sleep besides Prachi who was at the end of the bed. "Di, what did the guy talk to you when you were alone with him?"

"He asked me if I want to marry him" Prachi had said without emotions.

"That was very sweet of him di. What did you reply?" Ayesha said lifting her face, balancing herself on her elbows.

"I didn't say anything Ayee. Really didn't know what to say" said Prachi.

"Did he ask you that? I can't believe it. But I don't know why di, I felt scared of him. However, Sukruti, his sister was really sweet" Soumya sat on the bed.

"I too felt scared of him Soumi" Prachi added.

As the sisters discussed Milind, Premlatha came to the room too to join her daughters in the bed. Soumya moved to one side of the bed, while Ayesha and Prachi too moved making space for their mother. As Premlatha laid herself, Prachi held her tight and kissed her on her cheek. "Maa, let the family from Mumbai know I am fine with this wedding. And you better don't think that I am taking this decision to keep your heart. I have thought about it and I too feel this is right. Let us leave the rest to God".

"Prachi" saying so, Premlatha kissed her daughter's forehead while her eyes filled up. Ayesha put her arm around Prachi while Soumya put hers on Ayesha. The four of them went to sleep after talking about the day's events for a long time. The next morning, the first thing Premlatha did was to inform Mishraji about Prachi's decision.

"Beta, Milind, what did you think of the girl?" Mishraji asked as they sat at the breakfast table the next morning in the Mishra house.

"Baaba, last night, he was asking me about the dates the priest suggested" giggled Sukruti.

"Suk" Milind had looked at Sukruti sharpening his eyes indicating her to keep quiet.

"Baaba, you go ahead with what you wish." he had said spreading butter on his bread.

"My dear businessman son, you could be more straight forward than that. Let me talk to the girl's mother and finalize the latest date available" Mishraji got up from the table finishing his juice.

"Did the girl agree for the wedding Baaba?" Milind had asked anxiously.

"Who can dare to reject my son?" Mishraji said turning back with a grin on his face.

"Bhaiyya" Sukruti hugged her brother from the back.

"As you wish Milind beta, I pray for everything to go well" Pavitra had said as she placed her hand on Milind's head.

Mishraji and Premlatha had spoken over the phone and had set a date after 3 weeks consulting Pavitra. Mishraji had suggested that they could have the wedding in Mumbai so that it would be convenient for the guests from his side to participate in it. Premlatha had agreed but also had honestly explained her financial conditions and what best she could do. Mishraji had told her all he wanted was them to be present in the wedding and everything else would be taken care of as he was going to give the responsibility to a famous wedding planner in the city.

Ever since the wedding date was fixed, Milind had gotten indescribably restless. He would often think of Prachi, would want to talk to her. When he asked for Prachi's number from Bua, she had informed him that there was no phone in Prachi's house and it was a nearby grocery shop they needed to call if they wanted to contact the family. Bua had also told him she would convey through Premlatha if there was any message to be conveyed to Prachi as it was normally Premlatha who would come to receive the call. Milind had then had asked her, if they were going to Sevagram again before the wedding, but Bua had answered in a strict negative saying it wouldn't be nice and then there was a lot to do in terms of wedding preparations in Mumbai.

A disappointed Milind had then called his friend Ali, to let him know about his wedding date. Ali was extremely happy for his friend and had wanted to see Prachi. It flashed in Milind's mind then that Bua still had Prachi's photographs with her and he had asked Bua to give him the photographs as his friends wanted to see the girl. Bua was generous this time and had given him the two photographs of Prachi she had with her. Possessing Prachi's photographs itself had made Milind joyous and he did happen to spend ample amount of his free time with the photographs.

Though often surprised with himself, on how his thoughts were occupied by the woman he was going to marry, Milind was only day dreaming more and more about her every day. In his heart he knew he had fallen for the girl and deeply attracted to her. The thought that she was going to be his wife had made him feel she was his in every sense while the fact that she was far away from him and he couldn't reach her made him impatient. Her photographs had become his only consolation and seated in his office that day, he had opened the file that had her scanned photograph in his computer. Lost in filling her into his eyes, which he was never tired of, he had kissed his computer screen tracing the lips in the photograph.

umm is there a chance that milind had known prachi before?? im curious as to why he particularly chose prachis pic and says its either her or no one else. or am i over thinking?😕😆

Wow, that was so sweet. Seems like milind is already fida over prachi. Cannot wait till their marriage. I have a doubt though if till now everything went on smoothly, will bua cause a problem after marriage over prachi being a manglik?

haha she feels scared of him....aww..dont worry...u wont be after the wedding...he is a nice big cuddly bear!

No you are not overthinking. There is a reason why Milind chose her! May be more than one reason.

Yes he is fida. Marriage will be in the next update. Bua will create somethings.. but nothing to harm Michi.
