Ekta Vs. Smriti - The better producer?

This thread may seem quite ridiculous because Ekta has been in this business for a much longer time than Smriti but today, with Pooja's rape being handled so maturely in TSZTSA, I am intrigued by Smriti's techniques of producing. There's little doubt that Smriti's serials are far more realistic than all of Ekta's soap operas combined but who takes the cake as a producer?

My two cents:

The rape scenes that of KT (KSBKBT) & Pooja (TSZTSA) are most probably the only sequences that bear any resemblance to each other. So it's only fair to compare them. While KT's rape bordered on the point of being titillating (it seemed less like rape if the voice was mute, IMHO), Pooja's was not. It was neither graphic nor titillating. The way it was handled was very mature. Smriti did show rape but it was unlike any of Ekta's. There was a reason for the rape – which was made quite clear; the rape added to the initial plot & overall idea and to some extent, did make sense. Whereas KT's rape was illogical – Mayank, the rapist, suffered from Multiple Sclerosis – a disease which weakens the brain and spinal cord and is mostly found in females. How can a person, who has the mind of a child, suffers from weakness in the spine, get so intoxicated as to rape someone and exactly know what to do, if you get my wind? Surely, alcohol would weaken him. Oopsies, silly me, logic and Balaji repel each other.

Another thing I've noticed – Smriti doesn't go for actors just because they sell nor does she choose actors on the basis of their looks but on the basis of their acting skills. , from what I've noticed; whereas glam has been a USP in almost every Ekta show. This gives Smriti an edge over Ekta. Ekta may produce 10000 soaps but if the quality is close to zero, then…what's the point of making soaps? The only thing Smriti's shows lack, IMHO, is audience participation.

Out of the two, Smriti definitely is the better producer for me. Who takes the cake as a producer for you?

i completely agree with u. Smriti's shows hv creative genius n gives us food for thot unlike ekta's which shows stupid concepts like polygamy n all rot.

Smriti is far better in the selection of her star cast. N what wonderful performances she extracts from these actors... look at Munna in TSZTSA. He is in real life a polished guy but a wonderful performance has he given as a tapori... worth accolades. Similarly pooja who definitely acts like a bold basti wali ladki.

Also see Viruddh.. Performances by Sushant singh, Achint Kaur, Vikram Gokhale... i m at the loss of words to describe what brilliant performances they are... such clean n decent serials n makes so much sense....

Her serials are so close to reality far away from what happens in Ekta's serials... Complete bull shit. No where close to reality. She says she makes serials for the middle class ..... what crap!!!! Middle class ppl do not live in opulent houses n do not dress in designer wear.

Look at Smriti... she even has the attires of the star cast designed to the minutest details... she dresses Namita in good sarees n pooja in normal salwar suits whereas she makes KT wear those ornate jewellery n heavy dresses from day one despite she being from a not so well off to do backgrowund. Ekta's serails are full of flaws whereas Smriti's serials are so close to perfection that u could probbaly trace a flaw only after a lot of keen observation.

I also agree with you , In Kyunki the scence was not maturaly handled , in TSZTSA they didn't show it , they just showed her feet and her hands whereas in Kyunki they actually showed it , but blured it abit!

Your also right about the plot and story line , the reason behide what happen to pooja goes with the story smoothly whereas in Kyunki , Mayank is mental , how can he manage to do such a thing , it made no sense what so ever because when they showed it , the man started with KT feet and made there way up , now , The way they showed him mental doesnt seem like he would do such a thing like that , you would think he just crawl around her yelling " KT .. KT ..KT " mentally !

poor KT and Pooja well atleast KT had Laksh , BTW where is Pooja's husband?!?

Smriti is undoubtedly a much better producer. Her serial have great story content, realistic and superb acting skills.
