Kkutumb is the story of a Gujrati joint family living in Mumbai. The story is about how they work together to solve their problems as a family. However, not everyone is quite happy living in this joint family. They want to move out of this house and live their life their ways! Kkutumb all about the ups and downs we daily see in a family.

Lalit Mehta-
One of the biggest business tycoon in the country. His family is his world and will do anything for their happiness. He is a proud father of three sons and two daughters and also a grandfather to three grand children. He treats everyone equally and his bahus are his betiyans. Unfortunately, he doesn't see respect for him in his bahus eyes.Maya Mehta-
Wife of Lalit Mehta. Like Lallit, she too cares for her family. Her children are the world to him and her bahus are also like her betiyans but they just ignore her and pretends she never exists. One thing that brings a smile to her face everyday are her grandchildren.-The Sons and Daughters-
Suraj Mehta-
First son of Lalit and Maya. Takes life very seriously as well as the family business. At times he gets stuck in embarrassing situations thanks to his wife Aarti. His parents and kids are his support in life. At times Suraj is also stuck in the middle between his family and his wife Aarti.Raj Mehta-
Second son of Lalilt and Maya. He takes after his father. Respects his elders and treats them very well. His wife Kaya gives him support in every steps he takes in life and is always there for him. Raj is also a proud father to a daughter.Kiran Mehta-
First daughter of Lalit and Maya and third born into the family. Kiran follows her mother's footsteps and makes her mother her role model. Kiran is the only one who has the guts to stand up against her two bhabis when they disrespect Maya.Ajay Mehta-
Third and the youngest son of Lalit. Respects his parents and loves his family. He is a big flirt in collage and is also the spoilt brat in the family. Nothing makes him more happy then to spend time with his childhood friends Rohan and Priya whom he ends falling in love with and marries her.Resham Mehta-
The youngest born on to the family. She's the one that brings a smile to everyone's face and makes them laugh. Her role model is non other then Kareena Kapoor. Her ambition in life is to be an bollywood actress.-The Second Generation Bahus-
Aarti Mehta-
The first bahu of the second generation. She wants everything done in her ways. She hates living in a joint family and obeying the elder's decisions. She likes her own freedom of doing what ever she wants. Her biggest problem in her life is the Mehtas. She wants to move from this house with her husband Suraj and her kids and live independently.Kaya Mehta-The second bahu of the family. She sees the world through her husband and loves him a lot. But like Aarti, Kaya too hates the joint Mehta family and tries her very best to break every relations with them. Kaya too wants to live her own independent life with her husband and her daughter in their own home.
Priya Mehta-
The youngest bahu in the Mehta family. With her entrance into the family, things starts to get better. She loves her childhood friend/husband Ajay a lot as well as the family.
