As much as i hate it but SE are meant to be together and it is better this way!! Even though Damon passionately and unconditionally loves Elena even more than Stefan (may be?) but the relationship and bond that SE share is unique and Damon can never have that with Elena!! He foremost cares for her safety and well being (physical well being) but doesn't pay attention to her emotional needs, her desire to protect her loved ones, her friend Bonnie for example.
As Stefan said in this week episode, Damon can not earn her respect because he is too blind is making sure she is unharmed while ignoring what she wants. In a relation love is very important but that's just an important part, respect, understanding, compromise, trust play a vital role too!!
Damon needs some1 who truely loves him the way he does and be his strength not weakness! To be frank i am a bit overdosed with brothers falling for Nina (Katherine / Elena) why does it always have to be her as if other beautiful charming girls don't exist in Mystic falls??
As for the ending i wud prefer the following:
Tyler and Caroline (Werewolve and vampire) i have not seen such a pairing before and it can bring in new dimensions to the story.
Stefan - Elena as they are meant to be together!
Alaric - Jenna i would love to see them sort out their issues and come close
Bonnie - Jeremy i didn't like this pairing before but lately i like them!!
and my bad boy Damon, i would love to see him with a vampire who is pretty much kick ass like him!! Want to see him banter for once!!😛
