Seriously? 😆
I love RaHi, so much so that despite never following this show regularly, had to keep tabs on this pairing through written updates...because the initial treatment of the story and characters were so fresh (unlike many other shows that were going on which wanted not to be like the old saas-bahu drama and yet was based on some single-line social concept that hardly gives any show enough story to run for more than 4-5 months with the uniqueness intact!).
Characters like Omi, Avi and Ruku came with the introduction of season two...personally I have grown used to watch English shows and following their seasonal runs, so new characters I didn't have any problem with...it was the lack of any conclusive exit for the characters of Juhi, Bobby and Samar! When you leave the fate of such endearing characters undecided, it definitely feels something amiss. Either make occasional references to them mentioned in the remaining buddies' conversations or their past scenes because that's what The Buddy Project meant to me! Zero flashbacks, zero mentions, it's as if they never existed.
Worse, the lack of a satisfactory conclusion of these three buddies' stories meant I am left hanging dry hopelessly wishing that they made a return sometime!
Then the new three or four characters, which had ample potential to grow on us viewers the way they were introduced, suddenly turned obnoxious, or for the lack of a better adjective, schizophrenic with their inconsistent behaviour. 🤢
I wished post-breakup Avi was used as an indirect catalyst (just by being at the same campus with Panchi, not by slandering Panchi-RV's friendship) in Panchi's growing emotional vulnerability where she would act firm outwardly and RV sensing how she is yet to be healed..it's he who should have voiced the necessity to take Panchi away from the campus for some time to the other buddies...this Piddi winning a trip to a camp is rather random plot device! A plot where characters come and go just for the sake of convenience! Also with that we get a dangerously uneven, sketchy character called Rukmini, who had been given a character story of a girl trying to rise above her possible fate of becoming nothing but a caretaker and baby machine and prove herself before getting settled. From there, we have come so far to find a girl who is behaving like an obsessed vamp more fit for K-soaps than TBP! 😲
I don't hate Rukmini because that generates too much negative energy...I pity the actress and her character for how spectacularly butchered it is by the writers. When will writers understand that turning the third wheel negative or bitchy is NOT the only way to make any pairing justified? RaHi are not meant to be just because Ruku is bitchy (For me RaHi were always meant to be together, come whatever impediment may between them..by the definition of being soulmates'). The writers may not have intended such correlation but the way some RaHi fans are badmouthing Ruku is really surprising me. Ruku is an unwelcome thorn between them, sure. But did she zero on RV with the intention of getting together with him? Was RV an unwilling guy in their relationship? We don't want to see Ruku coming between RaHi's friendship, that's understandable. But the reality is Panchi is the one who unintentionally came between an established romantic (however weak) relationship. I would rather have RV realize he would never have the emotional equation with anyone else what he has with Panchi and that he always unknowingly wanted to find that kind of understanding with the girls he seriously pursued...and then, man up about his real feelings regarding Panchi to both Panchi & Ruku. Not by making Ruku turn a mega bitch from a bitch. That will be a justification as lame as it could be.
Whoa, I hadn't written such a lengthy post for a longgg time! And given I hardly post in I-F, let alone in the TBP forum, this post would seem like a rant-blast coming out of nowhere! But I really, really had to get out all these pent-up feelings about the way RaHi's story and others connected to their story have been handled. 😕
P.S. looking forward to see RV realize what he means to Panchi and what Panchi means to him, then the confession, then the *ahem* kiss! I believe in getting lucky in third try, (not counting Kiya cause they were not serious about it) so I damn hope this one seals the deal!
P.P.S. The Vamp-ish gf plot bores me as already have seen such characters so many times in old serials...so it's not the actor's fault though..she nails it! Just wanted to see such a pretty and capable young actress in a better role fit for such a show that was really youth-oriented and fresh! Bad luck for Sonal!
Off to see the latest episode which I have missed thanks to the effin' power cuts!
