KD's P.O.V
Yet again I headed for my car and I was stopped by one of my students.
"Sir , may I borrow your notes for this unit?", he asked.
I nodded affirmative and opened my bag to take them out, when I heard someone humming a tune. Actually it sounded like...Kiya. I looked around to find the source of the humming.
"Did you here that?", I asked my student.
"Hear what sir?"
"Someone humming a song", I said.
He shook his head.
"Listen carefully", I said.
I could here it clearly now. It was Kiya's voice. The student screwed his face to listen carefully.
"I don't here anything sir", he said.
The humming stopped. Well, I must have imagined it. I took out the notes and looked up to see Kiya standing in front of the car in red cardigan dress. I dropped the notes.
"What happened sir?", the student asked, concerned.
He looked at Kiya and turned back to me.
"Are you okay sir?", he asked.
"Can you see...her?", I asked pointing at Kiya.
He looked at her and back again.
"There is no one but the two of us here sir.", he confirmed.
I gathered myself and pasted a firm look on my face.
"I think the latest kidnapping news has got to me", I said covering up for my sudden emotion leak.
I looked to see Kiya still standing there and she was staring at me with a mixture of confusion, happiness and...hope. I handed the notes to the student and he left. I turned back to Kiya. I closed my eyes and opened them to find her still standing there. I pinched myself and it hurt. So this is not a dream.
"It's all in my head" I murmured repeatedly to myself.
"It's not", Kiya said.
"Kiya!How-", I started off.
"Wait", she interrupted, "You know my name?Kiya, that's my name?"
I started at her in shock. She didn't know who she was or who I am.
"Are you KD?", she asked.
"How did you know?", I asked.
She doesn't remember her own name but she remembers mine. Weird!
"I am really sorry but can I ask you a few questions before you say anything?", she asked and I nodded.
"What's my name?", she asked.
"Kiya Gujral", I said.
"And you can see me?"
I nodded.
"and touch..."
She held my hand. The very hand that she let go 3 years ago. I felt as if an electric shock was passing through me. Is this real?
"Hold on", I said, "No one else can see you?"
She shook her head.
That's when I realized that I am out of my mind. Without another word I got into the car and drove off. I looked through the rear view mirror just to see Kiya stand there all alone. What's wrong with me?
Kiya's P.O.V
What did I do? What did I say? Why did KD just disappear like that?
It took me so long to find the one person whose name was in my head all this while. Now that I found him I chased him away...Kiya...not a bad name. I guess I should try following him. I need to know who I am. Juat then I noticed the tyre tracks on the road and decided to follow it.
After about half an hour or so I reached a wedding hall. I saw KD talking to a woman. He took some keys from her and left. I guess I'll follow the woman for a while. I followed her inside. As I entered I read the banner at the entrance which said "Ranveer weds Rukmini". Why are these names so familiar?
I lost the lady by then. She was plump yet cute. Do I know her? Does she know me? She couldn't see me. Actually no one seemed to notice that I was right there. That's now it had been all this time till KD saw me. I need to talk to him . I need his help.
I walked past the stage wondering if I could find this Rukmini's room. Maybe seeing her my trigger some memory if I know her. I entered a locked room by walking through thewall but instead to find a bride I found the brides groom. His face turned away from me. Oops! Wrong room. I turned to leave when...
"I wish Kiya was here with us today", Ranveer said.
I stopped on my tracks. They were talking about me...or some other Kiya.
"Me too", said the other guy with him, "I bet you that if she was here today she would have been titled 'International singing sensation: Kiya Gujral'."
It's me alright. So they know me. How?
"Avi, did you hear from KD?", Ranveer asked.
"Avantika told me that she go Piddhi to try to talk him into attending this wedding but he was adamant", came the reply.
All these names are so familiar. Are these people my friends? How close am I to KD that I remembered only his name?
"I don't expect him to come", Ranveer said, "That would only mean that he forgave me and I don't expect him to forgive me when I can't forgive myself."
"You are not the reason Kiya died", Avi said.
Suddenly everything around me went blur. I'm dead. This me is just a ghost or something. KD hates Ranveer cause he blames him for my death. I'm just a ghost...I need to find KD and talk to him. I really do need to find him.
KD's P.O.V
I drove straight to the wedding and called Panchi outside. I ignored her pleas to attend the wedding and got the keys and headed straight home. Was she a ghost or...an illusion. Is Kiya an illusion created by my mind? There is only one way to find out. I need to find Kiya.
