Prologue
Rahiman dhaga prem ka

The bond is of love
Don't break it away
Once it breaks, it can't be fixed
And even if it can, it won't be the same.
Out of all the dangerous words in the world, the one word which strikes terror into the bravest of hearts is the word misunderstanding.
That single word has the ability to tear you apart, and not even give you the luxury of tears. Because it always is your fault.
And try as you might, you never can fix it. It's never the same. And who knew it better than the four of them?

Guilt ridden, Ranveer looked straight into the mirror. His fist sliced through the air and contacted sharply with the mirror. He felt the blood sluice through the cuts on his knuckles, and closed his eyes. The single image, like every time, flashed before his eyes.
Panchhi. Bleeding.
Panchhi. In the hospital.
Panchhi smiling.
"You were my best buddy. You were my nonu"
He would earn her forgiveness, that he was sure of. He had to. Not for her, for himself. But a single question remained.
How?

The slender hand applied kajal to the tear streaked eyes.
Kiya Gujraal had been the rose KD had sheltered, and nurtured and then plucked away.
She had been used. And abused.
Kiya was done with the goody girl act. It was time for The Kiya Gujraal to come back, and with a bang. She was done wanting to be friends. She hated him.
His eyes.
The jungle.
Hadn't it meant anything to him? Anything at all?
Was she not... worth it?
The lone tear slid down her cheeks. She brusquely wiped it off, finished applying the kajal and walked out of the door.
The stick of kajal wobbled and fell of the dressing table.

Moti.
Best buddy.
That's what he's called her. Through thick and thin, she'd been there with him.
And what did she get in return?
Nothing.
Ranveer was past, not present. He was her nonu.
"Panchhi beta, Ranveer ka phone hai" she heard her mother shout from downstairs.
"Tell him I'm sleeping, mom"
Panchhi glared at the photograph on the wall. She rolled over, and closed her eyes.

"Mom"
"Doesn't love me"
Big black eyes stared out of the moon at him. His father snored from the nearby room.
Her laugh
Her smile
Her dance
Kiya.
Words had never been his strength. He wished he had that now. Just one word. Sorry.
KD stared out into the moon, from his bed. Kal, he promised himself. Tomorrow, I'll talk to Kiya.
His fathers snores continued without a pause, showing how unaware he was of the storm in his son's head. KD got up, and walked into the moonlight.

I'm Vee and I've previously written (and still am writing) fan-fictions for the Iss Pyaar Ko Kya Naam Doon? Forum. I recently started watching TBP (I finished watching yesterday. Yes all the episodes on YT 😆 )
So this is a Short Story (SS) I decided to pen down for the characters of The Buddy Project. I'm REALLY new to this forum, like - this is the first time I've ever stepped foot inside here. So erm, show me some love? 😆
