Chapter 43
When Thapki reached home, Bihaan was already there with Singhania family. Last night when Thapki went to her room, Bau Ji was already there. He was telling Bihaan abt Singhania's visit with their son Vicky and the expected engagement of Kiran and Vicky. Thapki who was meeting Singhanias for the first time, instantly liked them. Vicky seemed to be a sober guy and was a suitable choice for Kiran. Thapki felt happy for Kiran.
After helping Suman in serving tea to the guests, Thapki came to her room. She had to get ready for the Evening's function. She opened the ward robe and took out a beautiful black sari. She put the dress on the bed and opened her jewellery box to take out matching jewellery. She heard the washroom door open and looked up. Bihaan came out of the washroom. He had just taken the shower and his beautiful face and silky hair had drops of water. He was looking very handsome in his black suit. Bihaan looked at Thapki and smiled. Thapki smiled back.
Bihaan: "How did ur check up go?"
Thapki: "It went well"
Bihaan: "Wat did the doctor say?"
Thapki recalled the doctor words but she could not tell him the same.
Thapki: "Doctor said I am fine and there is no need to visit her any more"
Bihaan came close and held Thapki's arm and made her stand. He tried to look into her eyes but she was looking down. He knew she was being shy so he smiled and hugged her from back.
Bihaan: "U r telling it as if it such an ordinary news. Do u know wat it means?"
He tightened her hug. Before he could get any response from Thapki, some one knocked at the door and Bihaan instantly let her go. Preeti Bhabhi entered with her vanity bag.
Preeti: "I hope I did not disturb u both"
Bihaan: "No no... I was just leaving"
Preeti: "Bau Ji is waiting for u downstairs"
Bihaan left the room and Preeti started helping Thapki in getting ready for the function.

Bihaan went downstairs where Singhanias were sitting with Dadi, Bau Ji and Vasu Maa. Bihaan came and sat near Vicky and Kabir.
Mrs. Singhania: "Maa ji u r so lucky that all ur children live with u. And soon u will have not one but two more additions to ur family"
Dadi: "Yes I am blessed to have my loved ones around me"
Mrs. Simghania: "Dhruv and Bihaan got married on the same day and Shradha is few months pregnant, but wat abt Thapki?"
Dadi: "There is no such news yet but I am hopeful that we will hear a gud news soon. There is no hurry at all. They r still very young and must enjoy their lives"
Bihaan noticed Kabir and Vicky having a cosy chat. They seemed to have developed a nice bond.
Shradha and Dhruv were climbing down the stairs. They were clearly arguing and Shradha had an angry look on her face. She was wearing a black gown which was too revealing for his taste so he looked away.
After some time, Kiran entered the room and the Singhania's attention diverted towards her. Bihaan looked at the clock and realised that it was almost time for the cake cutting. He searched for Thapki but she was still not there. He decided to go look for her.

John entered the main hall holding a gift box. Shradha noticed him and walked towards him.
Shradha: "Wat r u doing here?"
John: "I am here to attend ur husband's birth day party?"
Shradha: "Shut up John. I know no one invited u. Y r u here?"
John: "Do u want me to be a loser?"
Shradha: "She is getting engaged. U have no chance now"
John: "Does it matter?"
Shradha: "Wat do u mean?"
John: "Wait n watch"
With that John moved in while Shradha looked at his back wondering wat his plan was.

Preeti entered Thahaan's room and looked at Thapki. She was struggling with her sari.
Preeti: "Wat happened Thapki?"
Thapki: "Bhabhi the pleats went out of place. Plz fix them again"
Preeti: "Ok. Just give me one safety pin so that I can secure them in their place"
Preeti started fixing the pleats.
Thapki: "Bhabhi plz cover the scar with the pleats"
Preeti: "For that I will have to drape ur sari a lil above than where it should be"
Thapki: "Then do it Bhabhi. But plz cover it up"
Preeti: "It's just a small scar. It will fade away with time"
Thapki: "I hope so. It irks me"
Preeti: "This small scar irks u and wat if it was bigger"
Thapki made a bad face.
Thapki: "No one likes scars. Everyone loves clean skin. I hate scars"
Bihaan who had just heard the last part of their conversation did not move from his place for few seconds. All of a sudden, all the scars on his body became alive. He could feel them bleeding, paining, complaining and screaming "U have been scared for life". With pain in his eyes, he turned back.
Preeti: "I did not know u were this beauty conscious"
Thapki: "I am not Bhabhi. But men like flawless women"
Preeti: "That is not true"
Thapki: "It is and If it is not true then y all the women shown in shows and movies r always pretty faced. They are always perfect"
Preeti did not know wat to say coz wat Thapki said was almost true. In today's time where size zero heroines are in and ppl are body shamed openly, wat Thapki said made perfect sense. But she knew it was not the complete truth.
Preeti: "No one is perfect dear. And these flawless skinned heroines r only found in movies. In reality we all have our own weaknesses"
Thapki: "Will Bihaan be not irked by seeing this scar?"
Preeti: "Oh so that is wats bothering u... Stay assured... Bihaan devar ji would have accepted u with any weakness. Be it any scar, dark skin or even stammering for that matter. But touch wood u r so pretty and he is the lucky one to have u in his life. And u r lucky to have him. U both complete each other"
Thapki: "R u sure Bhabhi? Coz I really love Bihaan and I do not want him to hate me or dislike me for anything"
Preeti: "Oh yes Thapki. Don't bring any bad thought in ur mind. Now hurry up or else we will get late. The guests seem to be here already"
Preeti left in a hurry. Thapki took a deep breath and looked at herself in mirror. She was no doubt looking very pretty. She moved her mangulsutar up so that it was clearly visible and left the room.

Thapki climbed down the stairs and searched for Bihaan. He was standing alone in one corner. Thapki knew how Bihaan felt uncomfortable during such gatherings so she walked towards him. He looked at her and she met his gaze. She smiled and he smiled back. Thapki stood next to him.
Thapki: "How am I looking?"
Bihaan: "U look flawlessly beautiful"
Thapki(blushing): "Thanks and in this black dress of your's, u r looking the most handsome person in the whole hall"
Bihaan: "Ya... But its all due to my dress"
Thapki: "No. Actually u r making this dress worthy of u"
Bihaan: "U know nthg"
Thapki (holding his hand): "Y r u saying so?"
Bihaan: "Nthg. Actually look at Kabir, Vicky and even Dhruv. They r also wearing black and expensive brands clothes and looking so handsome"
Thapki: "Yes coz black is tonight's theme. Any way for me u r the perfect man ever"
Bihaan: "Thanks Thapki and I pray to God that this thought does not change... ever"
Before they could talk more, the cake cutting was announced and everyone gathered around cake. The rest of the night went busy but it was after diner that the couples were called on floor for couple dance. Thapki looked at Bihaan and he nodded and they joined the other couples on floor. The lights dimmed and slow music started playing. Thapki started following Bihaan's steps and the two started dancing as if they had already choreographed it. They danced on many songs and the DJ announced the last song. Thapki who was inhaling Bihaan's perfume while having her head on his shoulder, did not want this night to end. But the dance ended and the lights were back to normal and every one clapped and cheered.
Thapki halfheartedly moved away from Bihaan. Bihaan walked towards where Bau Ji and Mr. Singhania were standing. Thapki walked towards Kiran who was standing alone. Before Thapki could reach her, some one pushed her and she was abt to fall when some one caught her. She looked up and found Kabir looking at her with concern.
Kabir: "Are u okay Thapki?"
Before Thapki could react or say anything, he looked at her back and continued.
Kabir: "Shradha, u should walk more carefully. Not only u r pregnant but u could have pushed Thapki to the ground"
Shradha said sorry and moved ahead.
Thapki: "Thanks Kabir. If u have not caught me in time, I would have fallen flat on the floor"
"Lucky u... After Bihaan, Kabir is also here to support u". The familiar voice of Sheena startled Thapki.
