OS

"Onu?" Taani said as they both sat at the table, opposite one another.
"Haan?"
"Ek baat bata" she said resting her arms on the table
"Kya" he asked sitting back
"Tu teen ringd kyun laya?" she asked
"Vo kya hai taani" he made a face "ke tu bohat picky hai na, tu choose nahin karpaati" he said and her eyes widened.
"Main picky hoon??"
"Haan"
"Main kahaan picky hoon?tujhe to pasand kiya na!"
"Haan lekin" he paused "ek minute, matlab kya hai tera?mujhe pasand kiya?!kya matlab hai?"
"chor na onu, jaane de" she smiled
"nahin taani bol" he told her
"main to bas yunhi kehrahi thi onu"
"acha" he shot up "main yeh baaki dono rings kohi doosri larki ko jaake ke dehta hoon" he said putting them back in his pockets. "Bohat larkiyan hai jo mujhe pasand karte hai, pata hai tujhe!" he boasted proudly.
"Acha?" she shot up "to jaa, jaake dikhaa mujhe"
"Jaoon?"
"Haan, haan. Jaa raha tha na? Jaa"
"Taani" he turned to face her with a 'please-forgive-me, I-went-too-far' look on his face and a smile to go with it.
"Kya?"
"Yeh sab chor" he took her hands and sat her back down. "dekh, decorations kitni achi hai"
"Haan, hai" she shrugged, unimpressed
"Tujhe ab kya hua?"
"Mera mood nahin hai"
"Phir se utak baytak shuru karoon kya?" he got up
"Haan, karle"
"Kya??"
"Kya? Tune to abhi kaha"
"Tu sach kehrahi hai? Main karoon?" he asked
"Baba ne kaha impress karo, yeh thodi kahaa tha ke ullu ki tarah maanthe raho"
"Kya?? Baba??" she exclaimed
"Haan Taani..."
"Onu, tu sach bata, kya baba ko pata chala ke tu mujhse milne aaraha hai?"
"Haan Taani vo kya hai, unho ne mujhe magazine parthe huwe pakarliya"
"Kya?" she asked, trying to suppress a laughter. "tu magazine par-raha tha?"
"Haan" he sulked "tujhe acha sa gift lana tha lekin decide nahin karpaya, issi liye tujhe bahar bulaaya lekin tu" he tutted "tujhe apni shopping aur maaon se fursat kahaan?" he sulked
"Onu, dekh" she put her hands on his anf he looked at her. "Main kaise jaathi tere saath? Maa aur Neelu Maa kya kehte?"
"Haan" he looked away "tu to yahin boleghi, hamesha ki tarah" he sulked
"Onuuu" she said turning his cheek to look at her. "vaise teri surprise bohat hi acha laga"
"Acha laga?" he asked putting his hand on hers.
"Haan, bohat" she replied, smiling

"Ek aur surprise hai tere liye"
"Ek aur?" she asked, baffled
"Haan" he smiled taking a bigger box out of his pocket. "yeh lo"
"Yeh kya hai Onu?" she asked, staring at the closed box, which looked like it could fit a set then up at her soon-to-be husband.
"Ek pura hone vaala vada" he told her seriously
"Kya?" she smiled, confused. She didn't know what he was talking about.
"Khol ke dekh"
"Acha" she smiled before opening the box as Onu got up and sat on the arm of Taani's chair as she opened the box to see a heavy necklace.

"Onu...?" she looked up at him.
"Tujhe yaad hai, teen maheene ek vaada maine kiya tha tujhse. Ke tere liye ek acha sa haar khareedkar rahoongha"
"Lekin, Onu..."
"Lekin kuch nahin. Tujhe isko accept karna paregha Taani. Varna phir se ghussa karoongha" he threatened her.
"Tu ab se yahin bahana use karegha na?" She asked, shaking her head.
"Haan! Karoongha!" he told her proudly "Leghi ya main chala jaoon?" he threatened
"Tu manegha nahin na?" she asked
"Nahin manoongha" he said proudly
"Tu paagal hai"
"Pata hai" he nodded "ab pehneghi ya kya?"
"Acha" she sighed. He got up and stood behind her chair, leaning forward to take the necklace from her hand as she smiled to herself. He undid the necklace then put it around her neck. She smiled before he took her arm and helped her stand up and turned to him.

"Bohat achi lag-rahi hai" he smiled and Taani opened her mouth to speak "ab yeh na kehna tujhse kam!" he said and she chuckled before he took her in his arms.

Taani got out of the taxi as she did every evening and began making her way to the nurses station; like normal.

"Madam?" the nurse got up, clearly surprised to see her. " Aap? Yahaan?"
"Haan" Taani replied, confused at the nurse's reaction "Onu se milne aayi hoon"
"Aapko doctor ka message nahin mila?"
"Doctor ka message? Nahin, kyun?" she began to panic "Onu theek to hai na?"
"Haan, vo theek hai lekin aap unse nahin milsakte"
"Nahin milsakti? Lekim kyun?"
"Doctor ne manaa kiya hai. Aaj vo bohat mayoos aur dukhi lagrahe the"
"Onu?" she asked
"Ji" the nurse nodded
"Mujhe unse milna hai"
"Madam, maine abhi kaha hai ke aap unse nahin milsakte"
"Suniye, yeh bohat zaroori hai ke main Onu se miloon, khaaskar aaj ka din"
"Aaj ka din?"
"Haan, aaj Ananya Di ki barsi hai"
"Ananya Di?"
"Haan, uski behen"
"Kya?"
"Haan. Please, aap mujhe jaane deejiye. Milne deejiye"
"Haan" she gave in, quickly grabbing her keys from her pocket and Taani followed her to the room.

She opened the door for Taani and Taani rushed right in without any invitation.

She looked up and saw Onu sat there, grabbing his knees and curled up in a ball in the corner of the room, hiding his head. She heard him sobbing quietly and didn't notice when her cheeks were wet until the nurse stepped forward with a tissue. "madam, yeh leejiye" she said
"Thank you" she said taking it to wipe her eyes. At that point Onu looked up, his cheeks covered in tears, his eyes red from all the crying and looking lost like a helpless child.

"Onu?" she said and he jumped up to rush over to her hug. She held him tightly and closed her eyes and she felt him sob into his shoulder.

Onu may not have been as close to his sister as he would have wished but she was still his big sister. They still shared a bond.

Taani was the one to pull away. "Onu" she cupped his cheeks and wiped his eyes for him. "bas" she sniffed "mujhe pata hai" she told him. He looked at her helplessly before hugging her again.

They didn't need words. Their relationship was far too deep for them to need to express it in words. All they needed was each other.

Onu lay down on the matress and closed his eyes.

Why did he keep remembering her? Why did he miss her so much when she didn't even care about him.

Dil Main Ho Tum, Aankhon Main Tum
Bolo Tumhe Kaise Chaahoon?

Onu lay on his side, he just couldn't get comfortable. All he could think about was her. His Mishti.

Pooja Karoon, Sajda Karoon,
Jaise Kaho Vaise Chaahoon

Onu sat up slightly and lifted his matress. He had kept everything that he given her. Her bracelet, her necklace, even her engagement ring. He didn't want separate himself from them, incase he began to forget her. He couldn't do that. He couldn't forget his Mishti.

But when would she be back to get them? When would she be back to get him?

He lay back down and closed his eyes, remembering when his mother announced the date of their wedding. Her face was filled with joy. Neither of them could take the smiles off their faces.

Tumhaara Saath Mila Hai
Zara Main Dil Ko Samhaaloon,
Nazar na lage Kahin Meri

Onu smiled through the tears that travelled down his face. His heart really pained him. He missed her so much. He needed her right now. He only wanted her.

Onu felt a light shine on his eyes and opened them to see the light coming from the door and a person standing in the light:

He began to sit up, he couldn't see the person's face but he definitely recognised their shadow. A wide grin spread across his face when he realised who it was. He got up and rushed over to look at her properly. He touched her face, not being able to believe his eyes. It was really her. She smiled at him. She hadn't changed. Same hair, same eyes, same smile. Same Mishti. His Mishti.

He wrapped his arms around her and she hugged him tightly.

Suhane Sapne Dikhaaye,
Hamare Naine Deewaane,
Gale Se Ab Toh Lagalo,
Milne Ke Aaye Zamaane

Onu smiled and jolted before opening his eyes and realising it was just a dream. He looked around to see he was lying down so he sat up slowly.

It was just a dream. His Mishti wasn't there. She wasn't hugging him. It was just a dream. His eyes filled with tears again, this time he couldn't stop them even if he wanted to.

Hardam Mujhe darr hai yahin
Tujhse judaa ho na jaoon

Onu sat into the corner and closed his eyes, grabbing his knees close to his body, sobbing quietly.

Dil Main Ho Tum, Aankhon Main Tum
Bolo Tumhe Kaise Chaahoon?

Jaise Kaho Vaise Chaahoon

His Mishti wasn't with him. No one was with him. He was alone. All alone. Trapped in the four walls that enclosed him with no one to hold him.
