#8: I wish this moment could last forever
Love was in the air aka it was spring. The birds were chirping, flowers were blooming, couples were giggling, zephyr was blowing. Everything was perfect. One just couldn't go wrong with Spring. Everything was just so beautiful!
Kunj doesn't mean to be a hopeless romantic but he can't help it-he loved spring! He doesn't remember ever loving the season so much as he was loving it right now. In fact, if he was right, and he usually is, wasn't summer his favorite season back in London?
"Kya sooch rahe ho?" Her voice breaks him out of his trance. He moves his gaze to her. She looked ethereal, sitting there beside him, on the red picnic blanket, running her hands through the lush green grass of the ground. Her smile seemingly shone brighter than the very sun they were basking under.
"Bas uhi, mausum ke baare mein." He admits, rubbing the back of his head in embarrassment.
She giggles but looks unconvinced "Mausum ke baare mein sooch kar tum itna khush ho rahe ho?"
He tells her yeas, that indeed was the thing and she lovingly calls him Pagal'.
And that's how the rest of the day passes. Mild teasing on both their parts, a sprinkling of bickering before tummy aching laughter, a little sharing of snacks and loads of secrets, hopes and dreams spilled out in whispers to each other in the spring air until the blue sky became orange and red and purple with the beginning of dusk.
But Twinkle yet hadn't let the topic from before go. "Par Kunj sach bataona, tum pehle itna muskura kyu rahete?" She asks taking a bite of the sliced watermelon.
It puts Kunj in deep thought. He himself didn't know the reason behind his smile.
"Twinkle mujhe sach mein nahi pata. I swear."
She hums, holding up a finger telling him to wait while she munched and swallowed the fruit in her mouth. "Shayad it's the company you have with you today." She tells him cheekily.
Like a bolt of blue lightning, sense struck him. That was exactly what it was-her company! That's the reason behind his smile. The reason of his utter, unadulterated, child-like happiness and joy. It all makes sense now! He never liked spring much but he remembers Twinkle telling him a few days back that Spring was her favorite season and that little information like a virus made Spring his new favorite season too. And it wasn't the season and weather he was smiling about it was her. He was smiling at the memory of her jumping up and down with kids, playing with bubbles just mere minutes before she asked the reason behind his smile.
Of course he doesn't tell her all this. She would pinch his cheeks and all him cute and then tease him for being such a fluff-ball. He will let her know about it, maybe some other time. Right now he is content laying down next to her on the blanket under the open sky. There is yet that faint aroma of blooming flowers in the air, the dim echoes of children's laughter in the park and the strong magic of her presence.
"Kunj woh dekho, tootta tara. Jaldi se, make a wish!" she yelps in excitement, clapping her hands together in earnest prayer and quickly shutting her eyes.
Kunj takes a moment to admire her before following her actions. "I wish this moment could last forever."
Unknown to him Twinkle wishes the same.
THE END.
The end of Day 3/50. Hope you enjoyed it, despite its short length. Thanks for taking the time to read, like and comment. You guys are the real MVPs.
