Into the Storm
"I can't believe this!" Twinkle shouted over the roaring wind. "I should have NEVER listened to you."
Kunj blinked the rain away and tried his best to ignore the volcano that was erupting beside him.
"It will be fun you said! We will go on an adventure of a lifetime! There will be so many things to see! All the wildlife and first-hand experience with mother nature..."
Kunj was thankful for the thunder that chose to crack the sky open at that very moment. He didn't think he could handle the string of expletives that were coming out of Twinkle's mouth at that moment.
Yeah, he had proposed Twinkle to go on a camping trip. But it wasn't his fault that the weather man messed up his predictions. If anything, she should be cursing him and wishing he got fired! But no. His beloved wife had to pick on him for everything that went wrong.
Oh what's that?
The laundry machine broke down? It's Kunj's fault.
The dogs are barked the whole night? It's Kunj's fault.
There's a meteor strike? It's Kunj's fault.
Everything is his fault!
Marrying her was the biggest fault of his life!
"HOW DARE YOU KUNJ SARNA!" Twinkle yelled.
Honestly speaking, Kunj is surprised at her volume. Every time he thinks she can't go any higher, she does. His eyes focus on the vein that is throbbing against her temple rather than her words. He squints harder at it as he wonders if it would burst open if she spoke any higher. If it bursts, will she die?
"I'm talking to you!" She yells, putting her hands on her waist.
"Oh really? I would have never guessed! I thought you were talking to the baboon all along. Thank you so much for clarifying." Kunj gave her a sugary sweet smile before dropping it and walking off.
"Haaww! Y-You despicable person! First you bring me to the middle of the jungle, then get me stuck in this stupid storm, and now you dare to show me attitude?" She pounced with her every step she took.
I wonder if she can get lost in here...
Kunj raised his eyebrow as he actually thought of all the benefits of that radical idea.
It will be a logical explanation. The storm got the worst of them because of which they had to separate. The trees were so thick and dense that he couldn't see much of anything before him. As for the noise, the pouring rain and roaring winds were enough to cancel out anything.
"I will never go anywhere with you ever again!"
Well.. almost anything.
Kunj stopped as they came before a log cabin. Marching towards it, Kunj hoped against hope that at least this shelter would get his wife to shut up.
"Where do you think you're going?" Twinkle shouted as he climbed up the steps.
"To my castle. Would you like to come in your highness?" He bowed a little.
"And run the chance of getting murdered by a serial killer? No thanks." She tugged on the strap to her backpack and looked around.
Kunj took a deep breath and shook his head.
Ignoring her paranoia, he knocked on the door. When he got no response, he tugged at the door knob and it opened.
Stepping inside, he felt a rush of peace and calm. The massive wood helped to break out the rain and wind and provided an inner warmth that only a cozy home could provide.
His heart jumped a bit as he felt a tug at his back. His shoulders drooped when he saw it was just Twinkle.
"I thought you didn't want to run the chance of being murdered by a serial killer?" Kunj teased.
"It's better being with you than being by myself out there."
"Oh really?" He smirked, taking off his backpack and stretching himself. "Tumhara irada kya hai?" He raised his eyebrows suggestively when he saw her staring at him.
Twinkle crossed her arms and looked the other way, trying to cover up.
"Hey," Kunj said, walking towards her.
He took the backpack off of her and trailed his finger down her neck.
"You yelled way too much today. You know that right."
"Well maybe I wouldn't have had to if you had done something right." She bit at him.
"Hmm, maybe. Or maybe you were supposed to scream. But just in another way." Twinkle gulped as her heart started pounding at his suggestion.
"I-I... what?" She breathed out.
"Now," He held her neck delicately with his two hands, "you're going to scream when I tell you to." He tugged at her hair, making her face up at him. "And if you don't," He licked the corner of her jaw, "you're going to be in so much trouble."
Twinkle let out a deep, husky breath as he began licking up the rain drops covering her body.
The thunder tried its best, but it couldn't muffle out Twinkle's screams for rest of the night.
