This is brilliant! And you've written it to perfection as well. The way you're analyzing these women goes beyond the surface. Half of the women in TEI, we've always perceived as selfish, irritating and what not but there's a lot more to them than that. They have their strengths, which they don't always use correctly, but they do have them. I think most of all it's what you said about Anita that really impressed me. As big of a b*tch as she it, we have to admit that she had done a sh*t load to get to where she is. Once again this is an amazing idea and I'm excited to see what you do with it.
Thank you!
I absolutely love the women of TEI. They have so many layers to them, it boggles my mind as to why people aren't talking more about them. If we look at it, this show is filled with more female characters than male. They are all in positions of power (whether it's good or bad, it's relative).
Yes, some of these women are selfish, irritating, rude, evil, torturous but we also have women that are merciful, wise, compassionate, and selfless.
In short, we have a whole range of women on this show and it absolutely fills my heart with joy! We are not being given women who fit one stereotype. They are all different in shape, looks, size and personality.
When we look at Anita and Leela, they are both powerful business owners, but they're approach to their children and their rivalry differs so much. When we look at Bebe and Usha, they are both mother-in-laws (one metaphorical, one literal), but their manners of guiding and behaving towards their daughter-in-laws differ as well.
These women are the same but yet they're not.
Anita is a character that I really want to delve into. Yes, she is a hardcore, ruthless women on the outside. But why? Because she blames Leela for her husband's absence. If Anita breaks that notion out of her mind, then what is her purpose? She has crafted her entire life around ruining Leela's life. But now that's simply not enough anymore. She has moved onto Twinkle as she has hurt her son. Her one and only child. There is no way that Anita is going to sit back and let that slide.
That's why I find it so impressive that she found a way to barge her way into Twinkle's life in such an intimate manner. Everyone knows that she doesn't like Twinkle, and frankly no one really likes her. But that didn't stop her from acting. She got married, after all these years of being a widow, just so that she could exact her revenge. She changed up the dynamics in the rivalry big time!
She is no longer a Luthra, who was attacking on the opposite side. Now, she is a Sarna, a family member (albeit an unwanted one).
Wow! This got long.
Just.. these women man. They are so powerful and interesting and damn it, I want to talk about them more than I want to write out my English essay. 🤔😆
