I am glad that you have not thrashed Nikki and Usha,as people typically do to the vamps or partially grey characters of a show.
Although I am not supporting what Usha is doing, but I can totally understand where she is coming from.
Kunj is the apple of her eyes. And she has witnessed numerous times when he landed in a soup because of Twinkle. Later on,may be it was Twinkle, who had saved him,but the truth is he landed in that position because of her. Kunj is a grown up man,and he has taken the decision of marrying Twinkle himself, although under Manohar's pressure,so he should take the responsibility. But Usha being his mother, has this urge to protect her child. As much as we deny, but it is a fact that, how old we might grow, but for our parents,we are still kids. So although I don't support Usha, but I do get her POV

Thank you!

I personally am opposed to the idea of women hating on other women. We should all be working to empower and make each other rise further to achieve greater success rather than being in each other's way and bringing each other down. It makes no sense at all to me.

I don't support Usha in what she does either. But it's not right to simply hate and bash her without understanding her position. If she is torturing Twinkle out of pure evilness or the justifications do not match the intensity of her actions, then we have the right to hate her (think of Dolores Umbridge from Harry Potter. She raises shivers up my spine and I am genuinely surprised with how much hate she brings out of me.)

It is true. Kunj should take the responsibility of his actions and he has. The day of their marriage and after, Kunj has fulfilled his duty as a husband to the fullest. It is only recently that he has begun to accept Twinkle as his wife and raise some expectations of his own in regards to her.

This is brilliant! And you've written it to perfection as well. The way you're analyzing these women goes beyond the surface. Half of the women in TEI, we've always perceived as selfish, irritating and what not but there's a lot more to them than that. They have their strengths, which they don't always use correctly, but they do have them. I think most of all it's what you said about Anita that really impressed me. As big of a b*tch as she it, we have to admit that she had done a sh*t load to get to where she is. Once again this is an amazing idea and I'm excited to see what you do with it.

Thank you!

I absolutely love the women of TEI. They have so many layers to them, it boggles my mind as to why people aren't talking more about them. If we look at it, this show is filled with more female characters than male. They are all in positions of power (whether it's good or bad, it's relative).

Yes, some of these women are selfish, irritating, rude, evil, torturous but we also have women that are merciful, wise, compassionate, and selfless.

In short, we have a whole range of women on this show and it absolutely fills my heart with joy! We are not being given women who fit one stereotype. They are all different in shape, looks, size and personality.

When we look at Anita and Leela, they are both powerful business owners, but they're approach to their children and their rivalry differs so much. When we look at Bebe and Usha, they are both mother-in-laws (one metaphorical, one literal), but their manners of guiding and behaving towards their daughter-in-laws differ as well.

These women are the same but yet they're not.

Anita is a character that I really want to delve into. Yes, she is a hardcore, ruthless women on the outside. But why? Because she blames Leela for her husband's absence. If Anita breaks that notion out of her mind, then what is her purpose? She has crafted her entire life around ruining Leela's life. But now that's simply not enough anymore. She has moved onto Twinkle as she has hurt her son. Her one and only child. There is no way that Anita is going to sit back and let that slide.

That's why I find it so impressive that she found a way to barge her way into Twinkle's life in such an intimate manner. Everyone knows that she doesn't like Twinkle, and frankly no one really likes her. But that didn't stop her from acting. She got married, after all these years of being a widow, just so that she could exact her revenge. She changed up the dynamics in the rivalry big time!

She is no longer a Luthra, who was attacking on the opposite side. Now, she is a Sarna, a family member (albeit an unwanted one).

Wow! This got long.

Just.. these women man. They are so powerful and interesting and damn it, I want to talk about them more than I want to write out my English essay. 🤔😆

Alright first off you write beautifully let me tell you that. Each and everything is explained wonderfully. Tashan E Ishq writers have done a great job in showing us a variety of women. Anita and Leela show independent living after their spouse dies. Well Leela I don't know now since RT is back but whenever she speaks up I love it. Bebe is a pure gem, she is TwiNj shipper like us 😆. Her values are where they need to be. Coming to Nikki I was upset when she left but now that you put it that way it makes sense why she would do that. I do not like Usha because she is hypocritical even though she loves her son she doesn't understand he wants Twinkle to be his wife and Twinkle has done the best for their family. The day she realizes will be the day she regrets.

Have you thought of analyzing Alisha? Just a thought

Thank you! 😳

Leela, I'm iffy about. I still have to see how they introduced RT before I can comment on her properly. I feel like the CVs butchered the way he was brought back.

I wouldn't say Usha is hypocritical about that. Kunj is only beginning to realize and form these emotions for Twinkle. I don't think he would go up to Usha and declare his love for Twinkle when he is so unsure himself.

Again, yes Twinkle has done a lot for the family, but all the problems that have been arisen are all due to her. If Twinkle hadn't gotten married to Kunj, then none of these problems would have happened in the first place. Yeah, the Bebe drama would have, but everything that was caused by Anita and Yuvi, not so much.

There was one clip that I saw, where Twinkle was about to leave for the airport and she hugged Usha. Usha was genuinely shocked. Here she has been, being rude as hell to her and yet Twinkle compliments her and hugs her affectionately before leaving. It really did take her aback but I didn't watch rest of the episodes to know how she reacted. :P

I definitely will be talking about Alisha!

It was after I had posted this that I realized I didn't mention Alisha, Pinni or Chinki. I will be talking about all the women in this show. Rest assured. 😆

I might even move on to the men if people are interested. :)

Thank you so much!

I'm glad I was able to get you to see the character in a different way. When it comes to the media, there is always subtext involved. Don't simply accept matters at the surface level. :)

Thanks for the lovely mature post

Thank you! :)

I have my moments when I hate Usha as well (the cow piss scene, the whole KC fiasco -_-), but then I have hope that she will turn around and mend her ways. Once she realizes that Twinkle loves Kunj with a true heart, then she will back off. Until then, she will be protecting her child with every twisted way she possibly can.

You are most welcome! :D

A very interesting thread.
TEI portrays most of the women in non traditional way in relation to the Indian soaps. No abla nari types except Usha maybe be to some extent Mahi .
Most of these women we can relate to and want to be like.
