Twinkle cringed as her mother-in-law yelled at her for faking the fast. She had not eaten. She swore to Bebe that she would not ruin her first Karva Chauth due to the fact she was a natural foodie.
" I know I burped but that was probably because I am not used to fasting. I probably have gas," she muttered.
She had no idea why Nikki Bhabhi would have thought she would eat and then pretend she was fasting.. Yes she had made mistakes in the past but she was trying to be more mature and open minded now.
Everyone dispersed to see if the chand had arrived. Bebe took Nikki aside to scold her for lying and creating a scene.
Twinkle fingered the sieve that Kunj had made for her when she was ill in the hospital. He had bled in the process and some of his blood and adorned her maang.
She smiled softly and lifted it.
She looked up at the moon. As if on cue, Kunj appeared before her. She brightened.
Twinkle performed the rituals with deep happiness.
Kunj had believed in her and supported her!
Later it was time for dinner. Twinkle sat down waiting for the elders to get their dinner. She wondered if Kunj would bring her a plate. She pondered if she should wait for him to eat first like a dutiful wife.
A plate was placed before her, she looked up into concerned brown orbs.
"Tumne vrat kyun rakha mere liye?," he whispered.
She looked at him softly.
" Kyunki tum mere pati ho," she replied.
Kunj was elated to hear her answer.
Bebe came over later to tease them.
"Kunj tumne Twinkle ke liye gift nahin leker aaye?
Twinkle tried not to laugh.
Kunj was left dumbfounded.
" Ahh who Bebe..," he trailed off.
" Bebe mujhe koi gift nahin chaiye. Besides Kunj has already given me the best gift, mujhe par vishwas karke," his wife stated.
Bebe blessed them both.
" Babaji hamesha aapki jodi samlate rahe!( May Babaji always bless you both!).
The couple exchanged bright smiles.
Kunj's faith had now won. Twinkle's attempts of adjusting to her duties were starting to be successful.
Later as they entered their room, Kunj held her hand.
Twinkle was surprised and looked back at him.
" I actually brought something for you awhile back when you were still in the hospital," he admitted.
She smiled at him.
" Kunj tumne mere liye baut kuch kiya, iski zararoot nahin hai."
He opened the cupboard and took out a package.
She opened it to see a pink sari.
" I know you like pink. Lekin I want that one day when you feel this marriage can work you will wear this. I will understand what you mean," he declared.
Twinkle blushed and nodded her understanding.
