I didn't watch the whole show -- I skipped some parts (though I watched all of Madhu's performances, hehehe). I will watch properly next week when they telecast it in Singapore.
I felt Vani Jairam was a bit unfair in criticising Srilekha for injecting some creativity into the Maraindhirindhu paartha song. Frankly, I don't like singers who rip off originals and don't add anything. If they want to sing exactly like the originals, then I might as well listen to the original singer. That said, Srilekha made a bad decision in choosing that song -- it was simply beyond her level.
As some people have pointed out in other forums, I think the organisers should have stuck to one captains' round instead of introducing 3 rounds. The contest therefore became a contest between Madhu and Srilekha and not between Thirichi T and Thanjai T.

I totally agree with that .Me to feel good when creativity is added. No point repeating the same song.

It was too long and I got soo bored after 2/3 performances from Madhu and Srilekha. It was a BORING final - Madhu gave his usual best and a well deserved victory! Congratulations to Madhu's team .

Bon - I absolutely agree with you. You should be creative and we don't want to hear the same song sung exactly the same way over and over again. Well, I understand the hard work that goes behind each and every song and being creative is definitely not a disrespect ( to MDs ).

I too watched it & felt it to be, too boring and interesting at the same time!.
Definitely the 3 rounds of Captions is so very boring, except I really enjoyed Madhu's 'Thakida Thakida' a lot, out of all six! His Thaniye Thanthaniye was a brilliant one too.
I liked Devan's Happy song & the special performance of Krishnamoorthy's as well.
Srilekha team did good too, but she should have picked some of her own style for the Caption round, like Devan had mentioned in his comments at one point. I especially loved the Sangamam sutru of Madhu's team, it was excellent.
Overall, Thanjai Thalapathikal did very good and they won - A well deserved winning! Congrats & Kudos to them!!

I watched some more and I really loved the Sangamam round - Srilekha's team did an amazing job - What a tempo and nice song selection. I felt it was not fair vani Jeyaram criticized her for being in the same Genre. Nice flow of songs.

Mathu;'s medley was good too starting with place names but I felt Srilekh's was wonderful

Actually, I loved Madhu's first song most -- in his favourite Thodi ragam. "Thirupaar kadalil" or something to that effect. A Yesudas song I had never heard before. He did very well notwithstanding that fly that was hovering around his face 😊 I also liked his "Thaniyeh thananthaniyeh".
I am now listening to many of Madhu's songs that I had missed all these years. I had stopped listening to the radio for some years because of all the crappy songs that have been coming out. But now I am checking out some of his songs, including some of his Malayalam numbers. He has modulated his voice so well in some romantic songs that he hardly sounds like the classical Madhu (e.g., "Attrai thingal" from Sivapathigaram and "Sollitharavaa" from Majaa). But my current favourite song of his is an obscure song from an obscure movie, Paasa Killigal (actually the screenplay was by Karunanidhi and it should have done better at the box office). If you can, check out the song titled "Thendral enuum thear eari". A delightful classical melody compsed by Vidhyasagar, one of my favourite MDs. Madhu should have gotten a National Award for that song. He is even eminently qualified for a Padmashri.

Friends, someone just sent me the following link. It's a Tamil music video produced by Madhu's brother-in-law, the cricketer Sreesanth, and the song was sung by Madhu. It's meant as a Commonwealth games inspirational song. Quite rousing. I missed Rehman's theme song, which some folks panned.

Enjoy

I just listened to this song - wonderful. Nice variation and could not recognize his classical voice.

Chinmayee as hostess....

Another thing I noticedi nthe whole show was Chinmayee did a good job of hosting the program. Well timed comments and most of her dresses were nice and appropriate too. I learned that she did voice dubbing in movies for other actress's like Trisha in VTV.
