Complete overhaul required

Dear friends

I think our favorite show TMKOC requires urgent overhauling. It is making rapid strides from being one of the best things on TV to one of the most boring and irritating stuff on TV.

PS: I am still a fan of the show.

Reasons for the reqirement of overhauling

1. Lack of progression: The show, for quite sometime, has been showing the lack of progression-in terms of storyline, ideas and characters. It is true that watching same characters day in and day out becomes monotonous and boring. But it depends on the freshness of storyline and creative ideas to take the show to an entirely different level. This is not happening with our show. Imagine the extent of staleness: Mr Tarak Mehta, in the current track of Jetha in Pakistan, starts with preaching about the pain of separation and ends with reminding or should I say assuring us that laughter would not leave us. I pity him, because he is fully aware that laughter has already deserted us.

2. Daya: When the show started, and progressed, we got a new character, a submissive and vulnerable wife. She was not literate and urbane, but brought earthly humour. She represented a common Indian housewife, who was free of all kinds of guilt. And Diksha Wakhani played her dead right. The character Daya grew on us. But alas! The character became a monster, a monster who started feeding on its own body. Diksha changed Daya many times, done with right intent, but failed to sustain the uniqueness of the character. Right now, Daya has become one of the weakest links of the show. I think someone from the creative team must show her the videos of initial episodes and bring Daya back.

3. Central theme: The show fails to understand that though Jetha and Daya are the center of the show, they don't need to be always the prime mover of a plot. There are other characters completely unused in the show. For example, I have never seen a story that explores the Hathi family or the Roshan family. We have enough of Bhire, Jetha, Tappu, Daya and Champak... Though the show has just completed 800 episodes, we still don't know who is Abdul or Pinku; what happened to the stockbroker and his wife; why Mehtas don't have kids, etc. Please, for our sake, stop showing Gara family as the central theme of TMKOC, at least for one month.

4. Lack of story ideas: Lets be honest, the creative team of TMKOC don't have story ideas. They don't. And so they came up with an amateurish idea of mixing two plots. For example, currently they are mixing the Sunderlal and the renovation plot with the Jeta in Kutch plot. It is a perfect recipe of disaster. We can't enjoy any of the plot. Phew!

compelty agree with you, they need to regenerate the story and bring in a track where Popat gets married or Babita getting pregant that would be fun to watch.

Tappu Cricket vs Bhide Master and
Anjali's Diet drama and
Daya's phonecalls to her Mom. and
Jetha's fights with Aiyyer and flirting with Babita-ji
