Such a lovely little gem this one was, Nynu 🤗🤗

O Henry is one of my favorites, the short story I love the best from his oeuvre is "The Last Leaf"...one reason why I quite liked "Lootera", though most of my pals and family found it too slow. 😊

I loved the vibrant and yet exquisitely delicate way you fleshed out the setting, the almost paradise like atmosphere of the Sikkim Himalayas...I dearly hope to go there. I've been to Hill stations in the Western Himalayas, not been to the Eastern side yet. I'm sure it's every bit as spellbinding and stunning as you've described, with your customary attention to detail and description.

The encounter between the leads, when they couldn't really see each others features in full owing to the colorful yet somewhat concealing local garb...lovely touch. 😊😳 It was so romantic, somehow, that with that limited time spent in each others presence...they still felt that connection, that uncanny feeling that somehow, the other was someone so special.

You know what I loved best in the tale? The fact that they didn't recognize each other during their engagement and subsequent courtship period. That was so realistic in a sense, because they hadn't really had the chance to have more than a glimpse of their significant other. As far as each of them knew, they had been smitten at first glance, by a lovely/ handsome mountain dwelling denizen.

And the way they each resolved to give up that fond memory, and dedicate their heart and soul to the person they got married to...that was so amazingly sweet. I loved it. ☺️

I am going to catch up with the couple of chapters I have pending in FM. Over the weekend is what I have promised myself. 😊

Lots of Love

But I have to say the detail to this lovely tale is such a pleasure to read...I for one say you should definitely pm this to turn readers and I am sure they will love is as much as I did...

And lucky hope you had a lovely birthday...

Sorry for late reply but back to arguing with my friend over your latest mystery story nyna we both cannot agree on the who dunnit part :)

Promise to revert back on that story soon...

Take care

Raz

Dear Raz,

I am really happy to know you liked this tale, especially the simplicity of the story and yes I guess the magic of SwaSan is enough to gild the tale.

As mentioned in the introduction, this is an adaptation of a short story by O'Henry and when you say you love it, I am on cloud nine. Regarding your suggestion, to pm it, maybe I will😳

And please no apologies over late replies, it is understandable and when you say the reason is because you were arguing over my FF, it is a compliment.😳😳

Take you time for FM, I am just glad that you do read it😊

love,
Nyna

Yes it is an adaptation. I normally refer to this website for literary terms. It may be useful for you too..

And I have book marked that page, Thanks a ton, I actually read a few and have saved the rest for a leisurely read (maybe when I am in an absolutely boring meeting and have to do something to stop myself from dozing off😆😆)

Some stories happen to be so memorable. I have a number of them I studied in school, but now I can't remember the author or the title. You are lucky to be able to keep your hard copies with you.

I read the short story The Unknown Romance on this website http://www.sathyaish.net/stories/AnUnknownRomance.aspx
I am not sure whether this is a complete version. However, I found it very close to what you have written. Again, being an adaptation, the similarities were expected. When reading about Mr. Van Winkler and Ms. Vance, I couldn't help but imagine Sanskaar and Swara.

That is the only version available on the net, I read it too, but somehow I also found it incomplete, I actually have to read it alongwith my hard copy version and then I shall let you know.
I have only been to Karnataka and Tamil Nadu out of Andhra Pradesh, that is😆 However, I had a friend at Uni who was from Arunachal Pradesh. He used to show me the photos of his adventure trips and the stories of the local culture. Reading about the northwestern place in your OS reminded me of him and after almost 6 months, I texted him yesterday.

Yuan-fen, I guess😆😆 It is nice to know that my OS made you remember old friends. Your FF always does that to me, I so miss my trio 😭😭😭

Very few writers of fan fictions go to that extent of research and then appropriately post them in the footnotes. I think you should take that as your trade mark. Of course, if you are pressed for time, I am sure we wont hold it against you for not giving the footnotes.😆

Well, whether it is fan fiction or fiction, it is story telling and for that you have to read. And I personally love reading footnotes, author notes, so I like sharing what I learnt. But what I put in the footnotes are the edited ones. Some of the more detailed ones (which could be me blabbering) I try to update in the index.

That's amazing.. Will keep a lookout for your pm on the same.

Do not tempt me so.

Cheers
Sharon

Viji,🤗🤗, I so missed you.

O Henry is one of my favorites, the short story I love the best from his oeuvre is "The Last Leaf"...one reason why I quite liked "Lootera", though most of my pals and family found it too slow. 😊

I personally do not like The Last Leaf too much, it is very very sad😭😭But do you recall the tale, The Cactus - could be a very nice adaptation for RagLak - the hero is so much like Laksh, impulsive and brash😆

You should, I had been to Gangtok / Darjeeling when Dad took us, in winter (I remember us being so upset with him now I think it was one of the best and bravest things to do, it was frighteningly cold and beautiful, especially the sunrise from Tiger's hill on new year' day.) and Meghalaya during my audit days (the memories are tempting me for another idea, but am not even going to start thinking till I complete FM)

That was soul connect and yet deep in their hearts they knew that they could not pledge themselves as the call of duty was stronger.

I loved it. ☺️

That was destiny and fate playing with them. They got person they had fallen for only because they gave up that person. Imagine the disaster, if either of them decided that duty and the world can take a walk, that unknown stranger deserved them more? They would have lost everything. It reminds me of this quote " Luck is taking a chance when you have no choice, Destiny is making a choice when given a chance." They made a choice and found their destiny.

and yes, I made them dress up in those clothes on purpose, five minutes or less, with masked features, in an idyllic place, there was no way they should be able to recognise each other for none of those factors were present during all their interactions. That is how I ended it, they would fall in love with each other, never knowing that he /she was the one who had first stolen their hearts😊

I am going to catch up with the couple of chapters I have pending in FM. Over the weekend is what I have promised myself. 😊

Take your time, no rush, I am trying to complete the next chapter (it is turning out to be even longer than Chapter 5😕)

Lots of Love

Viji

Dear Raaz,

And your comments about my FM make me go☺️ And please none of them (So you like Gibbs from NCIS - I did watch most though I love CSI) and Sherlock (Benedict Cucumberbatch) they would die of embarrassment.😉

You are right, the message is true companionship.

love,
Nyna
