Dearest Talia,

Hope you are doing well. Well more or less everyone guessed BW were the cause of Sanskar's idiotic behaviour, don't beat yourself for the missed guess... This was needed for the next twist which will in turn add some more angles to Swasan's already convoluted equation.

Love you for your constant support and wonderfull response.

Dyuti

CHAPTER 28

Darkness.

She found herself sinking, in a boundless sea of suffocating, blinding, numbing kind of darkness.

Then they came into picture, floating balls of light and colours entered into the realm of abyss, the world of black. A pounding ache triggered her senses, ripping the hurtless comfort of anaesthesia that had been running through her veins since morning. She felt her skull would crack any minute. Her perfectly shaped brows were creased, she winced as another throbbing episode had almost made her collapsing again.

She could hear faint clinks, the song of chirping crickets, dripping water droplets interspersed between wan breathing sounds from more than one way.

"Open your eyes, sweety. a cold, raucous voice sniggered, tearing the steadfast, relatively calm auditory status of her surroundings. "This friend of mine kinda detests lazy girls. Don't you, Falcon?

After a few minutes of struggle Swara could catch sight of the view before her eyes. At first it was a blurred image, then it started to shake. Now all she could see were the damp, colourless, shabby walls around her. It was an unkempt, tacky wooden cabin made of cheapest timbers.

A yellow bulb was hanging from the roof. Sparing the centre, no space received rays from it. A semi closed skylight on the roof was only other source through which outdoor light peeked inside.

But those clunks of metals heaped all around made the place more creepy, more scary. Spare balls and chains were laid on the floor in helter skelter. Shackles were suspended from the roof with cuffs attached to them. A table was placed around the corner with daggers of different size and shape, where stood a man, revealing his backside.

"Right you are, Tony. You guys made me run soo much. Don't I deserve your full attention now least? the man named Falcon was seated on a chair leisurely. She didn't liked those grey eyes he possessed, or the way he was looking at her.

Just like she loathed her hands and legs being chained to a giant wooden beam fixed from ceiling to floor. Her delicate neck wasn't spared, it was burdened with with similar kind of metallic leash.

"If you think I'll beg that too from some inhuman beasts, then you are wrong. She was spitting venom towards the evil duo. "Do whatever you want. You're already scattered, lost and on the way to defeat. Killing a nobody like me wouldn't make any difference at all.

A bout of roaring laughter almost startled her. Tony turned and plodded closer to her. The man was in his mid thirties with long golden brown curls, pale blue eyes. His eyebrows were thick and gave accommodation a metallic hoop through a piercing on the corner.

A cold shiver ran down her spine, when she sensed him standing too close for her ease. One name crossed her mind... Laksh.

Would Tony try to break her like Laksh had been this close to do once?

He chuckled in triumph. Indian girls! Always scared for their dignity and all. Leaning close to her ear he whispered, "Oh, you're making so much difference. There is one person who is ready to pay any cost for you. And he is coming.

"You're lying. D-don't tell... Her fear was baseless, right? He was not that one person.

"You are absolutely right, dear. You're gonna meet your darling Sans... Sans -car really soon...This time Falcon completed the sentence on her behalf. His threatening voice sounded almost comical as he stuttered pronounce in his British accent. "Damn! That name's evil! He cursed under his breath.

Now it was Swara's time to laugh."You can't even handle the name and you expect to control Sanskar in person! Tch tch. In your dreams. then she added. "Don't expect him to bow his head just because of me. I'm not that important.

"Whom are you trying to fool, Doc? A vicious smirk played on the lips of grey - eyed devil. "Even a brainless plank could guess, had he heard his voice; that your hubby was almost dying in worry, praying every second to see you alive. Here you expect me to believe your bluff, when he himself proved otherwise.

He advanced near her with few quick strides and voiced in a mocking tone, " When he himself announced, he would bury us alive, if anything happens to his love.

========================

Sanskar Singh Rathore was dying inside every friggin' moment . Every death was excruciating, tearing him apart, in million pieces. How he wished had he never had done that blunder of pushing her away. He could be with her forever and eternity. Instead he was on the verge of losing her for that one utter moronic act.

No! Nothing should happen to his Nymph. Nothing would happen to his Nymph. He would bring her back from Black wolves, bring her back to his life and never let her be apart.

He stilled himself as he crossed the signboard, and took a deep breath. This was the place they had mentioned. It's time to say goodbye to vulnerable Sanskar and put on the face of shrewd SSR.

No one would believe a place like Mactaggart sanctuary existed in a city like Edmonton, a booming metropolitan area full of hustle and bustle. Whitemud Ravine, a blessed runnel of North Saskatchewan river ran through this small piece of tranquil haven of greens and trails. A low hum of the traffic from 23rd street was the sole urban remnant in the middle of raw wilderness.

Sanskar raised his pace as reached near the ancient wooden arch over the Creek. That maroon coloured pipeline bridge was no longer in use for common citizens, it was just not safe enough. As he stepped on the creaky wooden planks, they revolted and squeaked in protest.

On the other side of the bridge, he found a couple of druggies were fooling around in a stage of stupefaction. Sanskar heard local police raided this place on in a while, but in vain. These useless brats remained wasted as ever.

"Hey, handsome. Got some cash? a blonde druggie dragged herself up. In not so steady steps she walked up to the troubled lover boy. She rested her tattooed arm on his shoulder and muttered, sultrily moving her fingers. "You won't be sorry, I tell you.I'll give everything you want.

Sanskar jerked the girl away from him and hastily searched for some loose dollar bills. There was no time deal with this kind of trouble. Not now. He handed twenty bucks and turned to walk again, when the blonde caught his hand.

"What the hell? Leave my hand. Now! Sanskar's temper touched the sky. How dare she stop him, when time was running out his hand? When his world, his love was running out of his life?

"Let me pay you back handsome! she smirked, coming in front of him. "Let me give what you crave for.

He gnashed his teeth and shoved her."I don't want any of your damn shit! Just move out of my way. No sooner had he treaded past her, a cracking jeer made him frown.

"But handsome, I wanted to give you that pretty little bird you lost. her voice sounded inebriated no more. "Don't you want to find her anymore? Think of the fragile little one, perhaps some naughty kids are wondering what to do with her? Should they break her wings?

She came closer to Sanskar who stood frozen to his place. "Or... Should they break her neck?

==========================

"Hello. He is here huh? Excellent. Falcon whistled. "Get his phone. We are coming.

Swara's ear perked up. They were going to leave her alone for a while. A golden chance like this shouldn't be missed at any cost. She couldn't give those Black Wolves more leverage by being shamefully inert. Her escape would help Sanskar giving his best fight against them.

And when he's on his best, mountains had to move aside.

Swara watched them walk out of the door and evaluated her situation. The chains around her neck didn't allow to turn her head freely. On the positive side, the handcuffs were quite big. She smiled as an idea struck her head. Perhaps she could attain her coveted freedom again.

She mentally prepared herself and murmured. "Concentrate, Swara. Don't move your head. She clasped her left hand as hard as she could. On the other her right palm got hold of the handcuff, as she slowly, with utmost caution twisted and moved the wrists closer to each other.

Sweat trickled down her forehead even on the coldest month of year in Canada. She winced as the rough, rusty metal scratched her skin on her 3rd attempt of pulling her wrist out of the band.

"You're not doing enough, Dr Bose. She chided herself. "Try harder! She understood using controlled traction was of no good. She didn't care about if her hand ripped into pieces any more. This time she pulled her hand with all her might.

Something slipped down.

"Aaahhh.

Her hand was bleeding. The pain was vicious yet her yelling stopped. For there was something else. Something else that was far more intolerable, far more... suffocating...

Just the moment had she got last traction put into use, in a flash the string of shackles around her neck got tightened; a deadly noose formed. Her chest heaved erratically, her lungs duelled with her almost closed windpipe to snatch oxygen filled fresh air.

Her brain was on the verge of surrendering. Those beautiful hazel eyes were glossy, and soon there was raining. Perhaps Sanskar would find nothing but her corpse... Perhaps she was not going to see him again... Perhaps he would never get to know how many silent prayers she had offered for him. Never would he learn how her heart had beaten for him, hummed his name. Lub...Dub... Lub... Dub... . Her saviour. Her Sun. Her love.

Her Sanskar.

"I love you, Sanskar. She whispered as if gentle breeze rippled over stream. Busking in the whirlpool of intoxicating emotions, Swara, at last closed her eyes.

==========================

Dried, wilted, ochre leaves on the ice glazed soil rustled as brisk footsteps of four shadows were heard near the cabin. One shadow had longer strides than others. "Here?

"Slow down, Handsome! Mystique, the blonde girl rolled her eyes. "Ladies first.

"So, Mr fake Oberoi. Falcon didn't took the risk with the name. "Be ready to spill the beans. Or else

"I told you I would. Sanskar sounded irritated. "But remember. Nothing should happen...

"Holy f***in' shit! Mystique's frantic shout startled them, "Damn! What did you do with her? She died already, you idiots!

Sanskar stormed inside like a madman, followed by other two. His strong tough exterior crumbled at the moment her bluish still face came to his view. He forgot how to breathe. He forgot how to speak.

He even forgot how to cry.

"You were supposed to warn her, Mr Tony Stark. You guys left her alone and never told the shackles around her neck are tied to her handcuff. Mystique wasn't ready to stop yet. "You blotched everything, idiot!

But Sanskar's universe had come to a halt. Why wouldn't his traitor heart stop beating ? Why his eyes still had light and shades to envisage? Why hadn't his ears met closure? Why the memories wouldn't cease to flow as a turbulent whirlpool, rummaging his already battered soul?

His heart was about to explode with grief, guilt, self contempt. His eyes replayed her laughs, her teases, her endless banter... Her doe eyes hidden by long black curved lashes, cheeks blushing in the deepest shade of crimson whenever he caught her off guard with his insatiable passion. Strings of notes and lyrics that gleefully sprang into life when her soft pink lips used to set them free from her...

Neither he could forget her tears of pearls... her words of flames... Her accusation... her humiliation... that seething ire brewing in her face, already blazing from beams of bursting fireworks.

"But you Mr SSR, are the biggest coward I've ever seen.

Voices grew louder inside his head. Why his brain had to surrender now? Why couldn't he block them?

Be it Thea's verbal form of resentment,"You let her go, the best thing that have ever happened to you.

Or Ayaz blaming him. "At least here she would have you. Reminding what a grievous folly the great SSR had committed. "That Sargam Bose will do nothing but cry over her missing news or worse, over her dead body!

The judgement of fate went so wrong. For the sin of his, Swara had been the one to atone. Sanskar prayed for salvation this morning, instead he got destruction.

=====================

The blue eyed assassin couldn't care less. What's the big deal? She was just another prey of Tony "Iron Man Stark. "Ah! Stop wasting time on her, Mystique. We needed Swara Bose, not her dead body. he swatted his hand, not even batting an eyelid.

Something exploded inside his head. Sanskar suddenly lunged at the blue eyed monster, forgetting every sane thought. His clenched fists threw powerful punches one after another. Sense of losing everything had triggered the beast in him, who was jabbing Tony mercilessly. Falcon came to his aid, but Sanskar's sudden push left him knocking his head on the wall. Within a flickering moment or two, the so called Iron Man was lying on the floor.

With might of devil, Sanskar placed one fist on his neck. Raising the pressure with another clenched hand he growled, tears falling freely from his burning red eyes, "That woman was, is and will be my everything I've ever wished for! No one gets to call her useless dead body. I warned you, bast**rds, dare you hurt her and that would be your last day on earth. Still you did that to my... His voice broke for a while, then hissed. "Goodbye, you bl**dy son of a bitch.

And I res for this too, I have to unres for TAFL, will do both soon. pinky promise😳

Better late than never - even that seems to be failing in my case given how tardy I have been. .

Chapter 28 - did I mention I love your chapter titles? By now you must know I have a fetish for them and here, Darkness is absolutely apt. Indeed a period of darkness - for Sanskaar, Swara and Sargam (Still angry with him, when is he going to get his just desserts? I have read the next one, so Sanskaar sort of gives it to him but I really want the girl gang to give it to him😆)

So Swara is convinced that Sanskaar would not come for her, despite the thugs (the politest word I could find) belief to the contrary, sigh, a mighty tiff this lovers' quarrel is turning out to be. But then she must have known deep within her petulant heart that there is no way Sanskaar would not come.

And come he did, only to see her "dead" - "The path to paradise begins in hell" (Dante Alighieri) that was the what the ending portrayed.

Well even without reading the next update I was sure that Swara would be alive, though was not sure how you would pull it off. You did it great.👏

lots of love,
Nyna

Talia dear,
I'm extremely sorry for responding so late. You always make me happy with your thoughtful takes about each and every update. A truck load of hugs to you only for that purpose. 🤗

Sanskar and Sargam both needed to learn their lesson in a hard way. The next part will mark another change in the story? Positive or negative? That you've to find out.

Love,
Dyuti
