I have never been a daily soap person, the only shows that I have ever watched completely are ipkknd, mjht, left right left, saraswatichandra and balh
Ipkknd was regressive too, but I still had expectations that Khushi for once would stand up for herself and give it back to asr, I stopped watching the show during Sheetal track and I started watching it again when Mrs India track started.
Miley jab hum tum was youth show, light romantic love stories of Mayur n sajan, sajan was my favourite, gunjan's development from a shy introvert girl to a successful working women at the end was so progressive to see, a small town girl finds her man in Mumbai who supports her and respects her.
Lrl- women in army, that was new for me.
Saraswatichandra - cute love stories, although not that progressive but this show handled the situation of illigitmacy very well. Danny was the step brother of saras but always wished the best for his brother and saras too loved him like his child although he hated guman who was danny's real mother. Also at the end Danny chose his brother over his own mom because her mom was wrong and saras was right.
Balh - this show handled the situation of older couple getting married late and having babies late very well although I quit the show after the leap.

I started watching swaragini because of Varun Kapoor since I was fascinated by Danny. And eventually I fell in love with swasan. But ever since I have started watching this Show I have a sense of guilt as a young women. This show is regressive and patriarchal. And i don't support this. Ap's role has always been regressive and I hate her to see decked up like a mannequin and saying aee ji aee ji. Sujata although is a out spoken women but has always been a supportive of this patriarchal mental and she utters such regressive non sense sometimes that I literally cringe hearing them. Parineeta well was totally non existent before her sudden magical realization of insecurity, she was also as a women was regressive in handling her insecurities and the message that goes to the society that a woman who can't have children can kill other's children out of jealousy. Dadi is well u all knw is the epitome of hypocrisy and regressiveness. Shomi well after this pregnancy track I find her the biggest hypocrite, I mean u were ready to face the society with an illegitimate child but fear the society's reaction on ur legitimate child? Ragini well has been a confusing character, in the initial episodes she was a shy, introvert girl born n bought up to believe that marriage and having children is her life's sole purpose. Swara came in and introduced her to the world of possibilities and taught her to fight for herself. She took that fight for her love to another level and meaning altogether, where she insulted everyone and held swara responsible for her heartbreak. And the rest is history. She suddenly turned positive and started begging on her knees to lakshay to accept her. Then she tries to commit suicide, and still thinks that whatever she did was for her "love" and unfortunately shomi and swara endorse this. Then she forgives a man who slapped her father in front of so many people and got married to him. Swara well the initial swara was a progressive girl who wanted music in her life. But now who is she? She's a housewife who has totally forgotten about music, I mean when she forgets about sanskar all she thinks about is music as soon as she remembers sanskar she forgets music. Can't the woman remember both and handle both? I mean how many times after real marriage swasan have u seen swara with guitar in mm? Either she in the kitchen or with a tea or water tray or on a slapping spree or giving gyan or doing jasoosgiri and idiotic supernatural shit. She too begged shekhar on her knees, as if having a father is so important.
This pregnancy track was totally the final nail in this coffin.
If this track was even remotely shown positively I would have never taken this decision. But since the cvs decide to kill the baby and move on as if nothing happened. I am not gonna tolerate this shit. I always believed that audience makes the show, we give them trps. That's why stupid shows like ssk, naagin, kavach, kumkum bhagya etc etc etc promote regressiveness, superstition and patriarchy. So I am quiting this show. I would miss my swasan and would always be their fan would follow this forum but won't give trps to such regressive crap. I am sorry Varun Kapoor and Helly shah I love u as swasan but i can't endorse ur show's regressive approach towards society as a responsible citizen.

Well I would have said don't coz any case we are short of Swasan fans but since everyone leaving Swasan so if one more then no one can stop...
Any case both Swasan and raglak fans plus cvs themself are on the verge of getting the show shut down so what can one say...😭😭

I hope even I m able to do the same soon so that once show is gone it won't hurt that bad...

Even I was a LRL fan specially RN fan in it and it still hurts me the most not seeing the proper ending for my favourite pair and after that now Swasan ...nothing in between touched me that much...😭

I can request to stick for Swasan atleat but ppl do what they want to n lot of Swasan fans are doing that so...😭

I agree with most of your points Akanksha.
Most of the shows peddle regressive shiz including those duppatta flying pink fluff series selling MCP'ness in the name of romance.
Either woman are supergirls or they are doormats.

Few strong realistic woman characters graced our screens once a while but usually it is feminism in extremes or severe dearth of self respect.

So yes I do agree with your points regarding Daadi, sujata and other pointers.

But I disagree with the housewife part.
what's wrong in being a housewife if that's what makes a woman happy? isn't that what feminism is all about. being you. doing what you want. if that is touching stars or making homes. it's all about choice. So if Swara wants to rule kitchen what's wrong in it?

and nothing wrong in being decked up either. so what AP is clad in nine yards her hypocrisy, double standards not withstanding she is a strong woman who went against her husband to bring her 'crazy' nephew back to home. that's strength. going against Ragini during Maalkin track, standing up for her self respect and family. she has got steel fibre in her being.

Clothes and profession don't make us progressive. our attitude does.

The woman in my family are one of the most strongest free thinking ones I have ever met. and they are housewives and love to deck up. Respect and love for them.

this serial challenges our minds when it comes to logic, sense and sensibility. totally agree on that part.
but truly regressive serial is that kumkum bhagya one. even IPK to some extent.
don't get me started on likes of uttaran and most of the colors serials. Sadly our serial has joined their ilk now.

I don't have a problem with swara being a housewife, my problem is that either she a housewife or a musician, why?
Ap agrees and nods everything that dp says except when it comes to her sons. Then her motherly instinct rise up. But otherwise all she does is agree. She went against ragini but when DP refused to leave the house she didn't stood up for her self respect. Besides her regressive thinking towards shomi pregnancy and kavya's n swara's clothes was irritating.

great post akansha
everything u said was spot on, i probably said this many times and i'll say it again, i rarely watch Indian series, they ruin characters so easily, they ruin tracks, sometimes cvs are so bad at editing, there is no logic in some tracks.

this is why i always always prefer watching British and american serial because their tracks are a pleasure to watch, they never ruin characters, if one track ends another intense/beautiful track comes on

the amount of time i have been disappointed in Indian series, its so sad.
i have always stuck to my Indian heritage and watch indian shows to keep up with my culture but these shows have became disappointing year by year... after this show i think i will just stop watching indian series forever and just stick to my other shows.

i expected way better from swaragini, cvs have ruined everything

I edited my post dear adding more points.😳.

Swara can be whatever she wants to be. and for now she is happy being Maheshwari Bahu. that's good enough for me. To balance her Sanskaar too never goes to office. so yeah!

Ap agrees with DP because most of the times he makes sense (atleast to her). when he doesn't she challenges him. with respect.
She stopped that day because she realized something is troubling her husband and she can't leave him behind. you don't leave your troubled loved ones. that's family.

she has got regressive attitude no doubt. and biases. but she is not as bad as many other on screen.

I can't believe I am defending AP😆.

I do agree this serial has peddled lot many regressive stuff, stereotypes and stupidity.
won't judge anyone for judging this series. and certainly won't blame anyone for bailing out on this one.

sheer waste of a potentially terrific serial.
how the heck did they manage to create early days Sanskaar? sheer luck or chori maybe.

Seriously. thumbnail

My point about swara is that music is her passion she gets solace in it, I am not saying it's necessary for her to have a career in music. Music is her passion, her memory loss track seconds this that the only thing that gave relaxation during all those confusing times was music. My problem is that she is not even shown playing guitar for leisure. I mean she does not picks up a guitar in mm. All the women are shown working in kitchen. Ap too had a passion for music which does not exists now. If u remember during ragini's fake memory loss track she discussed her bachpan ka sapna to own a music school.
