Thankfully she did.😆
Swara will NOT be the third angle in this story. I think we got enough of that in the show.

There will be RagLak in the coming chapter.😉

Note

The straight line after the first two paragraphs separates the morning scenes from the evening scenes so there's a few hours lapse there. I also want to make it clear that Swara is not a third angle in this story, she's just very protective of her sister. 😆 I hope you guys like this update and I'm sorry for any grammar or spelling mistakes, I haven't really been able to proof read this chapter cause I've been down with a sinus infection and fever. Let me know what you guys think of this chapter. 😊

PS. The coming chapters will be more intense. I'm just warming up now and creating a bit of a slow build up.

CHAPTER 3

Laksh was in a hurry as he was heading to the mansions exit. "Lucky!" he heard Sanskar call his name. Sanskar hurried up to Laksh "Where are you going? We're closing an important deal today. Your Dad wants you there" he said. "What time is the meeting?" Laksh asked apathetically while adjusting the collar of his shirt. He was on a hurry to leave. "four pm" Sanskar said, putting emphasis on the number four. "Yeah, sure, I'll be there" Laksh replied inattentively as he patted his brother on the shoulder without looking at him and quickly exited the mansion. Sanskar sighed as he watched him leave. It surely wasn't easy to get his brothers attention.

"Ragini!" Swara called for her sister as she hurriedly and excitedly entered the kitchen. Ragini was preparing tea for her Dadi ma who was still giving her the silent treatment accompanied by deadly glares and, at times, snide comments about her irresponsible act. "It's Neha's birthday party tonight!" Swara said excitedly. Neha was one of their closest friends who also went to the same college as them. Ragini really wanted to go to her friends party, but Dadi ma was still very angry. "Swara" Ragini said softly "I don't think I'll be able to come" she continued. Swara understood what Ragini meant "It's our friends birthday party, Ragini. She's planned this party for two weeks now" Swara tried to reason with her sister. She could still sense some hesitancy "We'll come back really early, I promise" she reassured Ragini. Ragini didn't want to anger her Dad or Dadi ma any more than she'd already had. "Come" Swara said as she held her sister by her wrist and lead her to the living room where her Mother, Father and Dadi were sitting. Ragini looked down and avoided eye contact as they reached the living room. "Papa, can Ragini and I go to Neha's birthday party tonight?" Swara asked with a hint of caution. Shekhar knew Neha, she'd come over to their house multiple times. She seemed to be a decent girl. He looked at Ragini who was avoiding eye contact. Sharmishta whispered something cautiously to her husband, it seemed to be something in favour of the girls, to which Dadi glared at Sharmishta. "Don't be late" was finally Shekhar's curt and firm response. "We won't" Swara reassured her father.

_________________________________________________________________

It was evening and the sisters, along with a few of their friends, arrived at Neha's mansion. It was huge. Neha's father was a well-known businessman and as a result they were very well off. Music was playing and there were people hanging out by the pool as well as inside the mansion. As they were about to pass the pool an old classmate called out Ragini's name. "You guys go ahead, I'm just going to say hi" she said to her sister and friends. Swara and the girls continued towards the mansion and moments later, after exchanging pleasantries with her former classmate, Ragini continued towards the mansion as well. As she was walking she saw a familiar figure with a sparsely dressed girl next to him. He was talking with her sister and her friends. He was wearing a black suit with a white shirt under it with a few of the top buttons left unbuttoned. She slowly approached them as his face became more and more recognisable. It was him. It was the guy at the club who had helped and drove her home that night. A weird sensation went through Ragini's body as she realised this.

"I'm surprised to see you here" Laksh said with a hint of arrogance to Swara. Swara knew exactly what he meant, Neha was rich and so were most of the people at this party. She slightly shook her head at his comment and retorted "Neha's my friend. Not all rich people are self-absorbed a**holes like some are". Laksh knew it was directed at him and snorted in amusement at Swara's respons. The girl next to Laksh was wearing high heels, a short skirt and a crop top in a matching colour. She locked her arm into Laksh's, trying to show that he was with her. He, however, seemed very indifferent towards her, his arm didn't seem to respond to hers. She was simply clinging onto him. Swara turned to her friends "You guys go inside, I'm gonna wait for my sister" she said rather annoyed, Laksh's smug attitude had peeved her off. Ragini approached as Swara finished her sentence and Laksh's gaze fell on her. Their eyes locked for a moment and it took him a few seconds to process everything. It was that girl he had drove home that night. Was this Swara's sister? A smirk formed on Laksh's lips and was instantly accompanied by a disbelieving frown as he turned to look at Swara. "That is your sister?" He asked. Ragini was nervous, but she couldn't help but frown at his question which sounded more like a ridiculing comment. "Yes?" Swara said defensively. The sisters were different, it was something everyone noticed. Swara preferred western influenced outfits while Ragini preferred salwar suits. Swara had rebellious qualities while Ragini tried to please her elders as much as possible. And even look wise they were different. That was, however, mostly due to the fact that they didn't share the same mother, but not everyone knew this of course. Laksh's phone rang before he could say anything. He took his phone out from his pants pocket and looked at the screen; it was Sanskar. He looked back up at Swara with a mocking smirk and said "I'll see your around" and then took the call as he left. Ragini didn't noticed this, but Laksh threw one last glance at her as he passed her while he was on his phone. "Swara, do you know him?" Ragini asked nervously with a hint of curiosity. "We had one class together at college last semester. He is such an arrogant, spoiled, rich kid!" Swara said irritatedly. Ragini said no more, her sister obviously did not like him. He did seem arrogant, Ragini thought to herself. And his reaction over her being Swara's sister had offended her, even if she didn't really want to admit it. But he was also kind enough to help her that night. He had a very conflicting personality, Ragini thought to herself. He wasn't easy to figure out.

The girls entered the mansion and Neha squealed as soon as she saw them. They exchanged hugs with the birthday girl and wished her on her day. Neha leaned forward to the girls and whispered excitedly "Oh my God guys, Ahaan is here too". Neha tried to muffle her excitement but in vain. Ahaan was a guy that Neha had had a crush on for quite some time now and she saw this party as a window of opportunity to get closer to him. "Oh God, Neha, please. That guy doesn't deserve you. He's like that Laksh; spoiled and arrogant" Swara said as she grimaced in distaste when she said Laksh's name. "Stop it, Swara. I really like him okay. He's not like that" Neha defended Ahaan. "You're too good for him" Swara stood by her belief stubbornly. Ragini smiled and shook her head at the two of them "Stop bickering you two. It's Neha's day today. Neha you look amazing, that colour looks so good on you" Ragini tried to change the subject, she knew that Neha loved talking about her oufits. Neha took the bait and started talking about how she was stuck between this dress and another one that was pink and bodycon. Time passed and the girls chatted and giggled in groups while having refreshments. As a little more time passed the music got louder and some of the guests drunker. It was probably time for them to leave, Ragini thought to herself. However, she couldn't seem to find her sister and the mansion was packed since most people were inside now because it had gotten a bit chilly outside. Ragini came out on the terrace and tried calling her sister on her phone but Swara wasn't picking up. She was probably back inside and couldn't hear her phone because of the music, Ragini thought to herself. She sighed anxiously, she could not afford to come home late again, she thought. Ragini texted her sister saying that they had to go home "NOW" in capital letters, and that she was waiting for her outside on the terrace. She put her phone back in her purse and walked up to the fence where she rested her hands. She looked up at the sky and saw that it was a full moon. She always found full moons to be calming and serene. She closed her eyes for a moment and inhaled deeply as her dark, silky hair was slightly flowing in the light breeze. She suddenly heard a strange voice as the smell of alcohol hit her nostrils. She opened her eyes as an intoxicated guy came close to her "You know, you look really hot despite that outfit and all" he said as he struggled to stay up on his legs. Ragini's nose wrinkled at the strong smell and she took a step away from him. He supported himself by holding onto the fence with one hand and he extended the other hand, with a beer bottle in it, in front of Ragini "want some?" he said. Ragini shook her head as in no. "Come on have some" he insisted, bringing the beer bottle closer to her face. "She said no" Ragini suddenly heard a familiar voice from behind. It was none other than Laksh. He had entered the terrace as the intoxicated guy had insisted that Ragini drinks from his beer. Laksh was standing there calmly with his hands in his pants pockets. "Laksh, bro, what's up?" the guy said as he stumbled towards Laksh in his drunken state. His name was Laksh? The same Laksh her sister compared Ahaan to? Ragini though to herself. Laksh looked at Ragini and then back at the guy who was coming towards him. He didn't really know him, but everyone knew Laksh of course, this guy included. "I'm good, bro" Laksh said the last word sarcastically and continued "They just opened a keg inside". It was a lie, but the guy took the bait and stumbled inside to the party looking for it. Laksh walked towards Ragini with his hands still in his pockets. "You seem to be a favourite among drunkards" he said as he smirked. Ragini frowned at him, still slightly offended by his earlier reaction, and now this comment added to it. "What is a girl like you even doing here?" he asked curiously, but the slight condescending tone was something that didn't go unnoticed by Ragini. She was now peeved "A girl like me?" Ragini said and frowned even more as she crossed her arms across her chest defensively. "Ragini!" Swara entered the terrace in a hurry calling her sisters name. "Lets go, we're already late!" Swara said as she hurried up to her. As she reached her sister she realised that Laksh was standing next to her and frowned in confusion and dislike, but there wasn't any time to get any further into the matter so she grabbed her sisters arm. "Always a pleasure" Laksh said to Swara sarcastically and smirked as he shifted his gaze to Ragini who looked back at him with furrowed brows before being pulled away by her sister. Laksh looked on as Ragini hurried away with her sister while her hair flowed in the wind...
