Dear Saku,
The TS was indeed a wonderful one. So at the start we have Swara searching for a happy memory which she finds is the one she shared with Sanskaar, in the time after the forced wedding; where both are aware that the equations have changed but yet Sanskaar still bound by his own vows not to force her to acknowledge the same: while she searched for answers in the cosmos,he answers her by pointing out to Sirius - a binary star, where the brighter would not be so luminous without its companion who though in the shadow of the more lustrous partner, contributes to the strenght of the light - it appears as though SwaSan are actually a personification of Sirius - two individuals - one brighter, the other in shadow, depending on the circumstances and yet from a distance they appear as one.
Then when she does realise her love for him, it is already a little too late - as per his say. She comes back to MM where the doors to the mansion are open but Sanskaar has sealed his heart to her; so much so that he refuses to hear what she said or heed the unspoken, as you wrote he was so tired for fighting her demons he had no strength to face his own - he was so assured of heartbreak that he refuses to give himself a chance to acknowledge her love.
But he truly cannot stop loving her, which he, in a typical Sanskaar style displays by laying out a shawl for her, while he ostensibly came to search for a missing file - leaving new hopes to rise as a pheonix from the ashes of dead ones.
The day dawns - with pink and orange and silver - clearly a day of new hopes and beginnings. It is true, that the one thing we want the most is what eludes us the most - Sanskaar wanting to avoid Swara and failing, Swara wanting him to acknowledge her and slipping in all her efforts. But then perseverance has its own rewards.
The plan of hers - to have Sanskaar come to Baari with her where she could bake a cake to celebrate his birthday, was simple but that is where the allure and charm lay. Especially in the tiny second where she makes Sanskaar dip his finger in the frosting and she licks it to test the same - I am sure his defences and the unnecessary barries he had erected, started cracking at that instant.
And then her confession - straight from the heart and faintly echoing his words, when she says that it their love for each other that keeps her going and she would rather cling to the illusion that he still loves her than be convinced he no longer does. Convincing enough to chase both their dementors away. After all, they should have by now realised: their are each other's Patronus - and when together neither of them would need any other charm or spell!
And obviously - the cake would now taste perfect.
The story was so perfect and when you mentioned 'hopes rise like pheonix from their ashes: well here is my visualisation of the SwaSan Patronus charm:
