I was so excited when I saw this posted and you certainly delivered like I knew you would dearest Nalini. I love this first update after the prologue.

The whole description of an aged Sanskaar and Swara was so powerfully made- such dignity and beauty in them still- or actually I should say exactly as we should expect from a couple like this. I loved the idea of Sanskaar sitting there lost in the wonderful memories and starting that with the reference to that long ago letter, treasured and cherished over a long lifetime was so touching I had tears smart at my eyes. What made them fall was the scene where he rushes over to his beloved and envelopes her in his embrace and warms her like he has been doing in more ways than the physical of their long journey together.

Then the whole flashback to how Sanskaar had been away and Swara was so sweetly literally pining away for him but like their souls call each other, he had heard anyway and he was back and sneaking in naughtily to surprise her in the best way possible. Their sheer unbridled passion, the whole imagery of them unable to stop their caresses and love, on that wooden floor and just the full impact of their love and ardour- so so beautiful . Their sheer delight was perfectly shown and then the link to even now when they are old and almost at the end of their life but still so connected and at one with each other- it all jumped off my screen at me! Of course special mention to the lyrics being completed so beautifully on what was preciously a blank page for Swara but filled with poetry by the power of his love- what a lovely build up!

Just sweetly and tenderly beautiful Nalini! Will eagerly await the next one!

Love,
Shru x

PS: I have always loved that Hemant Kumar song 😳

Dear Nalini,
What a delightful series - I loved the prologue - the eternal conflict between destiny and free will is something, that is extremely fascinating and irresistible to me - I guess I was hooked from the start.

And good for me that I could read both the prolouge and the #1 at once (the guessing game would have killed me 😉)

So the first memoir is of Swara pining away for Sanskaar and actually chiding herself for wanting to call him back (she need not have worried, he was missing her just as much).
And her joy at him materialising ''from her dreams' - lovely.

That song - 'Pyar se pukar lo' is one of my personal favourites, despite being sung by Hemant kumar 😉 (Rafi/Manna dey and Kishore are my favourite male singers).

Here's to more memoirs from you!

lots of love,
Nyna

Awesome Memoir. Loved the way u portrayed both the 'past' and the 'present'. Though I'm still li'l confused with the 'present' part... bt I hope my confusions will b cleared with ur next update. And coming back to the 'past' part, I must say that it was just awesome!!! Both Swara and Sanskar was missing each other.😳 And Sanskar's surprise to Swara was so sweet.😆 And their kiss was so hot.☺️ Loved the memoir.😊 Thanks for the PM. Plzz continue and update soon.😃

Hi Nalini, 🤗 🤗

Really liked this first installment of the memoirs. So many things here which were evocative--the setting for one thing, your description which brought the scene to life. An aged Sanskaar and Swara sitting on the balcony beneath the mosaic pendant lights, Sanskaar reminiscing about the past even as the day wound to a close around them. You description of the flock of birds returning home, the fireflies gently buzzing around as the last rays of the sun gave way to twilight, was very nice indeed.

Swara obviously was very fragile health wise, and was lying supine on their large leather lounger. Sanskaar's concern at the cool evening breeze which buffeted her, his haste in going over to her and cuddling her, covering her with an additional shawl and humming sweet nothings into her ear, lulling her back to sleep---all such a powerful testament to their intense love for each other.

And that seamless shift from the present, to a lovely memory of the past, which SwaSan shared in the same balcony, under the same mosaic pendant lights---nice touch there.

Sanskaar returning from SFO a little earlier, to surprise his wife was so very romantic. 😳 Swara was filled with bittersweet yearning for her husband, and also worry, since she hadn't been able to reach him on his international phone all day. Little did she know it was because he was on the flight back home, to his very heart and soul. 😊 Her yearning was so intense, she couldn't even find comfort in playing a soothing tune on her guitar...

Swara's agonizing over whether she should just ask him to come back since she is pining for him so much, deciding that she couldn't possibly be so selfish to ask that; and have Sanskaar surprise her by whisper tenderly in her ears that of course, she could ask him to return, was so romantic. 😳

Their kiss was beautifully described--so passionate as well as soulful. ☺️ And Sanskaar declaring that henceforth, Swara would accompany him on all his trips was music to the ears. 😆

That song is one of my all time favorites. Hemant Kumar and Lata Ji, as I recall. Lovely, melodious, soulful song. Fits SwaSan so very well...and that touch was so good, the fact that Swara found her song now that her heart was back again. 😳 And the blissful sense of contentment that Sanskaar felt, perusing that parchment with her writing, showing how much she had missed him, as much as he had missed her.

So moving that 50 years later, Sanskaar is still treasuring that parchment with Swara's writing, reminiscing about those lovely times.

Looking forward to the next chapter.

Love,

----Viji

Hello vijji.

That's was such a nice set of comments.im so overwhelmed with them. Thank you so much for that. You really made my day.

You see I have this obsession about explaining the scene with an elaborate detail of the background that its really making my updates too long with almost not much story. At least that's what I have been fretting about but your comment made me really happy. Taking away my fears with it. I'm really so moved by that. You actually made my day with it and I wouldn't mind keeping this obsession on 😳

Yes, swara is really fragile and when one tries to look at her from sanskar's point of view. She is as precious as an angelic soul made of something more fragile than glass. He stands as a knight in fiery wings ready to catch her in his strong yet tender embrace on the drop of the hat. His every move is a compliment to hers.love such as that I can't try and put into right words but with encouragements as this I can try atleast.

I never imagined I could put this well enough through but it seems like I did. Im glad you think so well of the transition between the past and present for it to be seamless.

Coming to the song I should tell you. I was so confused between which one to choose. Tough as it is because every song seems to suit this amazing pair the best. I wanted it to be poignant yet cheerfull where there is the happiness of reunion yet the taste of times spent in desolation. I actually had a second though of changing it to Khoya khoya chaand. But then it felt too cheerful.

Yes she finally found herself back when he hummed those lines. And she herself felt how much he carried with him a part of her.remember the scene where swara tries to play something on sharmishta's insistence after the divorce paper drama. I just remembered it now as I reply. May be I had it somewhere deep down in the recess of my mind. Nonetheless I'm glad I could make something.

Writing for swasan is so relaxing and enriching that it has become an obsession. And having you lot appreciating is something more than what i can expect of my silly writings. thank you so much.its been a pleasure reading your comments.

Lots of love

Hi dear,
I don't boast any knowledge of mythologies but from the prologue I can infer these three sisters, you are referring to are creator of life, controller of life and destroyer of life respectively, do correct me if I'm wrong...

You begin with Swara being critically ill and Sanskaar going down the memory lane, effectively setting the stage for memoirs. From now on each chapter is going to be a flashback of Swara and Sanskaar life's journey, I guess...

The very first memory of them lying in eachothers embrace started off with a poignant description of Swara's frail health and Sanskaar's protectiveness towards her...
Sanskaar's recollection was indeed a treasured one. Their long separation, Swara's dilemma over calling him back, his surprise arrival, their soulful kiss and that wonderful song...
I like the detailing you give in each scene making it all the more beautiful.
Hope you are planning for some time travel back in the past soon...

Love,
Olivia

Hello Olivia 😊

Yes you are right about the three fates. They guide the thread of life as per a predetermined fate. But that ends there because there is always something called free will that clashes with fates. And the fates also determine every detail of one's life. They just deal with the crucial juntires. This story is about such clashes. As I go on I'll try to add layers and make it clear. I Hope you will stick on to the thread till then :)

Swara and sanskar are right now fragile with age and sanskar has her fragile health to care for while trying to be strong himself. With their love they will fight whatever Illness it is that's trying to pull them apart. I consider sanskar as a man of his words.so I would always imagine him keep them on.i respect him the deepest that way. I hope I'll be able to do justice with the story.

Thanks for the awesome comment

Lots of love
Nalini
