SO SO SO excited for this FF and thanks for bearing with me and keeping everything a suspense while you and Lann discussed!! 😆😳

SO excited! 😃

---Edited---

Shru, Thank you so much for keeping the title a surprise! I LOVE the title!! 👏👏👏 It suits the theme and the concept of the FF brilliantly! 👏👏 I don't have to guess who the Dark Knight is - do I? 😉

Absolutely love the setting in the 18th century and that is what got me interested in the story in the first place. So really looking forward to how all this unfolds. 😳

To begin absolutely loved the quote in the beginning from Charles Dickens. I think it throws light on how this tale can be assumed to move forward though I know you are going to be surprising us with lot of twists and turns. 👏👏

Loved the prologue Shru! Absolutely loved it! I could see it unfolding in front of my eyes and I was taken back to the 18th century. I could see Sanskaar chained and being tortured. Wonderfully described. Also loved how at the sound of Annapurna's voice, he looked up and whispered, 'Maa' - I believe the man is tortured physically, but mentally he is still strong. Especially if this torture has lasted for more than 2 years! A strong resilient Sanskaar - I am gonna love him!

Loved Annapurna's character in the prologue. A strong fierce regal woman coming to fight for her son - Absolutely loved how she threatened Bagri into submission. Her towering persona well defined. I could see the dungeons, lightly lit where the woman stands strong over Bagri and on the other end is her son, chained, calling out for her. Brilliant! 👏👏 Though I wonder what took her two years to come free her son who I feel she does love dearly!

You have outdone yourself Shru and I want more of this! I love historical narratives and this one is going to be brilliant, I can tell it. 😳

Continue soon! 😊

Lots of Love
Anna

P.S : Thanks for the mention! So much love! :*

Anna 🤗 x 10

I was so happy to see you res asap and reading these comments is making me burst with happiness especially after the excitement of the new OLVs and all! What a challenge it was to be secretive for me 🤣 but am I glad you liked the surprise and thank you for liking the title! No you don't have to guess who the Dark Knight is, my Sanskaar obsessed brain had to centre it around him after all.
I have so been wanting to bring that setting in so glad I finally found the courage to, thanks to some you! I am a HUGE Dickens fan. I have quoted ATOTC in a previous work too and actually gave away the ending assuming everyone must have read it but a reader hadn't 😆. I love that book and yes, I wanted that sort of feel to this. You know- there is angst but beauty in that too?

Phew re that Prologue. Am glad you liked it! I have always imagined those horrible conditions prisoners would be kept under in those days. In effect the torture was not constant over the 2 years as such but basically yes, he has been through hell in the past years and I'll reveal more as I proceed and basically also explain why it took so long to get him out. Basically that time period made speed with such things difficult and in this case, the crimes he is accused of are grave. Sanskaar here is incredibly strong, he is after all one of the finest soldiers they had and is also fuelled by more to keep him going.

I have discussed this type of Annapurna with Viji before and explored her in part in other work, notably Against All Odds (where she took a grey tinge too). I feel the one in the show wasted, she can be such a queen and here i want her to.

I am so touched by your words Anna, thank you again and I'll try to post Chapter 1 soon!

Love you lots,

xoxo

Good luck with that shruthi.
The prologue is so intriguing I can't say how exciting it is to have the same characters played at a totally different time with a certain regality to them.

As I always say you simply make people envision what you put down. As much as you say it's hard to believe that you can create wonderful scenes in our hearts and minds it the truth you have to accept at last.. Giving life to words is a God given gift and you have it. So anything you bring out I'm sure I'll be Waiting for another amazing piece of work...Good luck.

Thanks for the mention Shru 🤗 But the main idea itself was so great that I feel honoured you chose to share it & discuss it with me.

That synopsis looks straight from the back page of a Mills & Boon or Harlequin novel I love history & historical fiction as well so I am definitely looking forward to read this story. And like I said yesterday, even if I know the suspense, I will still read it for your writing style alone😳

That description of Sanskaar as a prisoner was beyond perfect. The whole scene played out before my eyes like a movie & then that single word "Maa" & I was reduced to tears without even knowing the dynamics these two will be sharing in the story. There is something about strong men being vulnerable when they are with the women they love like their mothers or wives or sisters...For some reason it was easy to imagine Shalini Kapoor Sagar, the actress who plays AP, very easily as Rani Sahiba. She has that aristocratic touch to her😳 Though why his Ma took two years to come to his rescue IDK?!

And that's it???!!!😲😭 I want more!!! I cannot wait for the next chapter! I want it almost as much as I want that SwaSan date in the show😆 so you get the urgency right??😆 Update jaldi jaldi please

Shruti
Countless 🤗 and thanks again too! The mention is very well deserved as I so needed to bash those ideas around and you helped me focus so much!

Oh wow- you think that about the synopsis? It was a last min addition to intro the story! Mmmwah for having said you would read it even if you knew what the main plot was, am so touched!

I am seriously super relieved you like that scene in the prologue. As you know, i was racked with self doubt about whether I could manage this sort of story at all and actually starting it is the really hard part. This is giving me breath to go on! I so feel the same about men showing vulnerability, we have discussed before too, I like the strong resilient types but you need to see that soft edge and when its with the most important women in their lives, it makes it just right. I so wanted a really strong Annapurna in the show and I have always seen her as regal and capable of both great deeds and terrible ones too. I love Shalini KS- she is a fine actress and exactly like you say- something in her bearing is so noble. I just told Anna a bit on the point of the delay- will cover this off briefly in future chapters:).

Haha - you want an update as much as the SwaSan date?! Whoa! I will have to get a move on then 😆. It will be soon though so not to worry!

Love you lots! Mmmwaah

Woah! I can swear the first thing that popped into my head was Christian Bale! Who better than him to cloak the armor of the Dark Knight? I haven't really read your work before and I am sure you don't know me as well! So allow me to introduce myself. Heya there! I am Shivani and I am a sucker for stories, I am a biology+literature student and try as much I always give into the temptation of a wonderful read! I was just roaming around when I caught on to this particular piece, this forum harbors some really talented minds and so far I've had encounters with Nimmi, Viji and Sakura and I am glad to hitch a ride on your wagon as well!

I am deeply, madly and irrevocably in love with history...this has been my favorite subject as far as I can remember and I have volumes and papers on Indian history that I love reading and re-reading. The 19th century is a bubbling hotpot that really changed the face of history to something that we know of today! Battle lines were drawn, war was waged and in general the blood was shed. 1803 was the time when a massive battle cry was heard not very far from Rajasthan, the home of both heroes and fables.

The story begins with veiled violence and although no background is set or erected, I could see torrential rains and flickering mashaals with sting of the whip cutting through someone's flesh...grotesque but massively engaging. But what I loved the most was that murderously sharp detailing of a panther that has taken a hit and is preparing to strike back for lethal finish. God! How I love these dark, abraded dwellers of the abyss!! The seething exchange of glares with one ripping at others soul and the other trembling at the aftereffect of a miscalculated move is something that blockbusters are made of, totally seeti maar!

And I loved Annapurna as well, the majestic queens of our land...the alpha females, just how can one not adore them with all their fiber of living? That steely personality and graceful yet fierce stride is enough to make the mightiest quiver. And loved the fact that you made a direct reference to the fact that kings are gods of kingdoms but the fortress belongs to the queens. That is the second thing to have stolen the cherry atop my cake!

And what is with Sanskaar? How did a might commander fall this bad? What rabbit are you planning to pull out of your hat? God I am getting impatient, I am already obsessed with a few things and this adds to the list! Just write it down soon-ish! Please!

P.S. The title "Rana" is the title of an emperor in Rajwadas, under him or this Imperial Crown you have various Kings/Maharaj or Ministers/Saamants. It would be more appropriate if the Maheswaris are Saamants. You see the Saamants had control over a cluster of villages ( the number could vary from a paltry 100 to 10000 depending upon the rank of the Saamant in question) and also they had their own militia and cabinet of minister to take care of the day to day affairs of the Saamanti Raaj under their control. They collected taxes from their subjects and could wages war against other Saamants without the interference of the Emperor or the Kings.

You have set the story line in 1803 when Maharaja Ranjit Singh had established his rule over Punjab and Lahore, when the comradeship between the Rajputs and Mughals were declining at a steady rate as the Mughal empire had begun to rot from within all thanks to the despot Aurangzeb and the second Anglo-Maratha war had begun. This was the reason why a lot of independent states had emerged as factions of power; the trade was at a rise because the British were slowly invading every sector and the political churning within every independent and dependent factions had begun. I hope you are not offended as this is your canvas and solely your picture that would be painted but it's just a suggestion and I am really sorry if this anyways has hurt you. I'd look forward to the updates on this one!

~XOXO
