Un-res
Two paras stood out for me from this subtly dramatic chapter. The first was this:
""People who don't love themselves can't love anyone else,' I say bitterly. I don't know what your problem is, who you're saving, or what you're trying to escape from... But this isn't brave Miss Gadodia, this is foolish and weak.'""
Wow---this is so, so true. I don't get how serials always portray the admirable heroine as an ever suffering, doormat type character afflicted with a martyr complex. There is nothing wrong with having a spine, taking care of one's own interests too, along with being concerned about other people. Selflessness and empathy need not come at the cost of taking the basic needed care of oneself!
Speaking of SK here, who was he thinking of, I wonder, when he said those words? His mother, about whom he had such fond memories of his childhood, her gentle lullabies soothing him to sleep? Was she unable to have that needed level of self respect, and did that drive her into seclusion, away from her son?
And the other sentence which struck me was the one towards the end, where Sanskaar can't help but feel concerned for Swara, and starts stroking her hair when she's weeping. She looks at him, trying to gauge the meaning of his actions, and he thinks, good luck with deciphering that, because he himself is not sure what he is feeling! 😊 Loved that imagery about the wall between them cracking a wee bit, so he can see the darkness on her side, and she can see the light on his; and they could communicate across that gap, if only she could trust him. Very powerful, very evocative imagery there.
Going back a bit, my heart ached for Swara when she asks Sanskaar to tell Shomi that she misses her; but then tells him not to tell her anything after all, since she probably does not want Shomi to worry further about her.
Durga Prasad coaching the already conniving Ragini on what to say in the witness stand. 😡 Man, some people...and Lakshya is as reptilian as ever, prosecuting a case in which his ex fiance stands accused of a crime possibly entailing the death penalty. Does this man have a heart? Or a brain? Or a liver? My answer would be none of the above! 😆
Looking forward to the next chapter, Saku dear!
