The little breeze touched the leaves and they danced in the air of November.Red, orange and yellow leaves in various shades. All of them floating gracefully on the soft breeze. Whispers between these leaves filled the air, whispers and mutters. The air was cool and crisp, like a refreshing drink of cool water after hours in desert.
The breeze fluttered around, gently caressing everything it touched.
The leaves had almost all fallen off, creating a sea of fiery colors that crunched beneath the feet.
Swara was still sleeping peacefully. The lines of care and toil had smoothed and virtually disappeared. Eyelids closed against the dim light of dawn and her breathing deep and relaxed, all the muscles in her face and body were totally at peace.
Soon she felt a cold air snaking down her back. She shivered and flipped over to look at the clock. It was 8 am.
'Damn i'm late' she shouted. She put her hand on her mouth and coughed deeply. She touched her forehead; she had fever. She coughed again and went back under the comfort of her warm blanket.
Sanskar entered in the room, with some files. 'Swara aaj uthna nahi hai kya? Itni neend?' he laughed. 'Sanskar mein..' and coughed again.
Alarmed he immediately reached her. 'Swara tum theek ho?' he asked worried.
'Haan bas thoda fever hai' she replied, coming out of the blanket. He touched her forehead. 'Swara tumhe to bohut tez bukhar hai, ruko mein abhi doctor ko bula kar aata hoon' he said, but Swara stopped him in the midway 'Sanskar don't worry, mein theek hoon, agar thoda rest karungi to theek ho jayungi' she replied to him.
Doctors and injections have always been her fear, since she was a child. She always avoided them and her Dida knew it. Whenever she had fever her Dida's magic kadha always worked. No need of medecines.
'Sanskar tum office jayo, mom aur Badi maa hai na yahan? Agar kisi bhi cheez ki zaroorat huyi mujhe, mein unse mang loongi' she added smiling at Sanskar.
He was so worried about her at the moment. He couldn't see her in pain, never, and he couldn't leave her alone now. He took out his phone, dialed a number 'Mishra ji? Mein Sanskar Maheshwari. Aaj ke sare appointments cancel kardi jiye, mein aaj nahi aa payunga office mein. Ji haan, theek hai' and disconnected the call.
'Sanskar, tum office kyun nahi ja rahe ho? Mein koi choti bacchi thodi na hoon..' she tried to protest, but without success. If she was ziddi, he was more ziddi than her.
'Ab tum yahan aaram karo Swara aur mein tumhare liye garam garma khichdi le kar aata hoon, okay?' 'Sanskar tum? But tumhe to khana bnana nahi aata hai?' 'Haan, to kya hua? Sikh lunga, aur vese bhi Mom hai na? She will help me and there's always a first time' and left the room, leaving a well shocked Swara.
Sujata was making a cup of adrak wali chai for RP when Sanskar entered. 'Chora, tu yahan keh kar raha hai? Kuch chahiye kya?' she questioned him.
'Mom khichdi kese bnate hai?' he asked looking around. 'Chora khichdi? Tu theek to hai?' she asked putting a hand on his forehead. 'Mom mujhe kya hoga? Wo Swara theek nahi hai, wo upar aaram kar rahi hai aur aaj mein uske liye nashta tayaar kar raha hoon. Sab samaan kahan hai?'
'Hey bhagwan ke hua Swara ko? Acha tu eesa kar tu upar ja uske paas mein uske liye bna kar le aati hoon' 'Nahi Mom, aaj mein khud apne haaton se bna kar khilayunga Swara ko'
Sujata sighed. 'Aaj to kitchen ka satyanaash ho kar rahega' she thought. She briefly explained him the recipe and stayed there to help him. 'Mom ab aap jayiye, mein karlunga'
'Sanskar lekin..' she tried to protest, but in vain.
He took a white apron and started cooking.
Swara was sitting on the bed, covered by her blanket. Sanskar left 1 hour ago and didn't return yet with the breakfast. 'Sab kuch theek to hai?' she wondered 'mein dekh kar aati hoon'.
She tried to get up from the bed and at the same moment someone knocked the door. 'Kon hai?' she asked. 'M'am room service' the voice over said and opened the door.
'Sanskar?' giving him a surprised look. 'Yeh kya halaat bna rakhi hai tumne?'
The white apron turned into a mixture of red, green and yellow. His hair were tousled. 'Wo Swara pehli baar mene khana bnaye aa hai to.. Isse rehne do tum pehle yeh btao ki khichdi kese bni hai' and extended her the bowl containing the khichdi.
'Tumhari haalat eesi hai to kitchen..?' she wondered. Suddenly they heard a scream coming from downstairs. It was Sujata's. They could hear her shouting 'Hey bhagwan ke haal kardi aa kitchen ka iss chore ne? Kitchen mein khana bna kar geya hai ki jang lad kar?'
Swara smiled, just a little smile at first, but as it grew it pressed her rosy cheeks up and slowly revealed her teeth. Finally the smile reached her eyes, lighting them and causing them to crinkle at the corners. Sanskar looked at her, how beautiful was she. He smiled back at her, his radiant smile glistened like a sunset touching the horizon.
She tasted the khichdi, under the inquisitorial gaze of her husband. 'So how's it?' he asked, a bit tensed. 'Hmm.. Not bad for a first time' she replied smiling.
'So i passed the test madam?' 'With full marks' 'Where's my reward?' he asked winking. She blushed 'Wo abhi nahi baad mein milega'

Swara was resting in her room since three hours. She took the tablet, but her condition didn't improve. In fact it worsened. She woke up and looked at the clock.
Sanskar was working on his laptop and noticed her movement. 'Swara uth gayi? Ab kesi tabyaat hai?'
'Hmm..' she didn't want to tell him a lie neither to worry him. But Sanskar understood. The tablet didn't work, he had to call the doctor.
The doctor reached the MM immediately. He checked her after a lot of difficulty. Just at the sight of the doctor she started panicking, but Sanskar reassured her. The biggest task was yet to come. Injection. He had to give her an injection.
She tried in every possible way to avoid it, she hide under the blanket and many more.
Sanskar hold her hand trying to calm her 'Swara mein hoon na tumhare saath? Kuch nahi hoga' he said reassuring her. And it did work.
The doctor prescribed some medecines to give her after dinner and in the morning and left the MM.

Swara's situation improved after the injection. Her fever got down, even though she kept coughing. Her dinner was served in her room along with Sanskar's.
She took the tablets after dinner.
Sanskar strictly forbid her to go out of the room, she just had to take rest. As she was feeling well and Sanskar was not around she decided to go downstairs to help Sujata, AP and Pari bhabhi in the kitchen. She was getting bored there.
As soon as she took a step out of the room, she saw Sanskar coming upstairs. 'Swara tum yahan kya kar rahi ho? Mene kaha tha na ki agar kuch bhi chahiye to mujhe kehna?'
'Sanskar mein bore ho rahi thi room mein akele akele to mene socha ki neeche ja kar Badi maa aur mom ki kuch madaat kardun'
'Acha pehle andar chalo' and took her in the room and closed the door. 'Ab tumne meri baat nahi maani hai to sazaa to milegi na Swara?'
'Sazaa? Konsi sazaa Sanskar?' she asked with a surprised look. She stared at Sanskar as he gazed back at her, his eyes burning with the intensity of a thousand suns.
'Swara' he whispered, his face was only inches away from hers and the warmth of his breath lit her up like a candle. A rush of heat started in her chest and slowly spread throughout her body. She could feel his eyes watching her every move. He leaned forward slowly, his hand brushing the hair out of my face and in an instant his lips were on Swara's. They were rough and smooth, they were perfect. He moved them around in circles and her heart swelled. His breathing was deep and loud in her ear. When they finally pulled free, he had a smile on his face. Her cheeks flushed to the color of scarlet. Her face turned as red as a rose. She nervously bit her lip and looked away but she couldn't hid the red glow that came over her face.
He looked at her with gleaming eyes and brought her in a warm embrace. She sank her face into his chest ad if to ask him to never let her go.
By the next morning Swara was completely perfect and fine. It was a nice sunny day, not typical of November.
The sunlight was shining in the bedroom, the slow breeze caressed the leaves-less trees.
She woke up and went to have a shower. When she returned she found Sanskar still sleeping. 'Sanskar office jaane ka mann nahi hai kya?' she teased him and gave him a kiss on his left cheek. 'Damn tumhe to fever hai!' she noticed. 'Mene kahan that that you should stay away from me until i have fever? Lekin nahi, tum to meri baat kabhi sunte nahi ho' she scolded him.
'Swara, kya subah subah class le rahi ho apne bechare pati ki. Don't worry mein wo tablets le lunga office mein ja kar and i'll be fine' he said getting up from the bed.
'You are not going anywhere Sanskar. Don't worry i'll call Mishra ji and inform him. Mein tab tak breakfast le kar aati hoon'
'But Swara..' he tried to protest. 'Okay do as you wish, but if you try to go to the office i'll call the doctor, and jab doctor aayega to wo tumhe bhi injection dega' she said with a smirk on her face.
'Yeh blackmail karna kisse sikha tumne Swara?'
'Apne pyaare pati se' and both started laughing. The sound of her laughter, bright and cheerfull echoed in the room. You could hear her sweet, joyful laughter from a mile away, it would echo through the halls and into each and every room in the house, and would cheer everyone up. Sanskar tilted his head back and laughed heartily. It was deep sounding. Calming, like a deep river washing over a path of stones.
He had the most adorable laugh she had ever heard.
