Considering how Sanskaar was once Swara's biggest enemy, he doesn't miss a single chance to defend her!
Today they showed a slightly different side of Sanskaar - the look on his face when Swara mentioned her and Laksh's relationship. Not just the look, but also how quick he was to hide it, almost as if he knew he shouldn't be feeling like that. I'm not so sure it was jealousy just as yet, I think it was more possessiveness. I don't think Swara felt that Sanskaar was being jealous - she was probably a bit embarrassed about mentioning her relationship with Laksh considering she said many times that he is married now and that she gave up on him. She doesn't want to appear weak or unethical.
The thing is, Sanskaar keeps asking Swara about her and Laksh's relationship and how it could be mended, and she more or less replies that it's over and there's no future. Although Sanskaar may initially have felt that they could be reunited, as time passes I don't think he expects or is eager for that to happen. Not in a mean sense, but because he is starting to feel that he is an important part of Swara's life and she is filling the void he had in his. He was plotting his revenge and was obsessed with Kavita's death and memories for the past few years and now that the plan's changed he is focusing on Swara and her issues (largely created by him).
If Laksh comes back into the picture, where does that leave Sanskaar? Initially he was feeling sorry for Laksh seeing him so depressed and had a lot of sympathy for him because it was also a result of his scheming. Now, though, I feel he doesn't have too much sympathy for Laksh because of the way he treats Swara and also because deep down in the matters of the heart Laksh has become a sort of rival.
To a certain extent, Laksh could be right that Sanskaar is hurting him by trying to show closeness with Swara. I don't think Sanskaar does it deliberately, but on a subconscious level he is trying to assert his place in her life in front of Laksh. e.g putting a hand on her shoulder in front of Laksh, jumping to defend her before Laksh even finishes his accusations, etc. He is also reminding Laksh non-stop of what he had and lost.
That could also explain why Sanskaar gets very self-conscious from time to time when there is physical closeness/intimacy between Swara and him. When she is sad, stressed, or being insulted he doesn't think twice before holding her hand, grabbing her by the shoulders, or hugging her. The reason is that his first instinct is to protect her and calm her down. He is always the one to reach out to her in such cases, never the other way round. In other situations, though, when they accidentally end up close to each other, such as when she falls on him (twice so far), he becomes conscious because it is not necessarily initiated by him or because she needs rescuing. In those moments, she is just a woman who is too close to him physically, in a place that had always belonged to Kavita.
I would like to see Sanskaar fighting with his feelings of love and loyalty towards Kavita as he realizes he is in love with Swara. His heart would be torn between the past and the present because accepting Swara as a life partner and giving her Kavita's place would be very difficult for someone like him. Keeping in mind that he has been living pretty much like a widower the last few years, I think he would struggle to even acknowledge that he could have romantic feelings for her and is not just her friend.
I don't think Swara can ever imagine Sanskaar falling for her because she believes he is still in love with the late Kavita and that is a great love that she can't come close to. Time will tell...
I would like to see more introspection on Sanskaar's part regarding his feelings for Swara, but I guess the CVs won't show us this now because of the suspense factor.
Does he realize how he feels for Swara? I think in his case he doesn't really know what is happening. He cares a lot about her, and probably thinks she's his best friend right now. In an attempt to make up for his mistakes and support her, Sanskaar is also trying to give her what she never got from Laksh or any other man in her life (including father and grandfather): COMPLETE TRUST AND SUPPORT.
I think he understands Swara's psychology and the effect of the absence of a male figure in her life since childhood. His constant reassurances of his trust and faith in her help boost her confidence, but the way he handles her gently when she cries shows a warm and tender side of a man that she probably has never seen, not even with Laksh. Yes, Laksh did support her to some extent but only when things were relatively under control. When all hell broke loose, he couldn't match up to her expectations of a reliable life partner anyway.
I think the experiences Sanskaar's been sharing with Swara lately have not only started to heal him but also let him live the married life he could have had with Kavita, who died on their 'wedding day'. The way he admired her cooking, praying, dressing up, celebrating, etc. This is what he had expected to share with Kavita but fate put him in with another wonderful woman.
They are both basically good people and are brought closer by one common point: the pain of losing a loved one. Dard ka rishta...
Sigh...I could go on forever about the nuances in this relationship and the possibilities. Hopefully the CVs won't disappoint us.
