TOI - Choreography remains Namish Taneja's (Lucky) first passion

Namish Taneja, currently seen in 'Swaragini', became an actor by chance. He originally wanted to pursue choreography. "Dancing has always been my passion, my first love and my priority," he says, adding, "But I could never share my desire of becoming a choreographer with my parents, as I feared that they would not allow me to pursue it. I secretly started learning B-boying and also started teaching my seniors at school. After almost a year, my father (who was a teacher in the same school) saw me teaching the students in the classroom. I thought he would beat me up, but when I reached home, he asked me if I want to become a dancer. I was trembling in fear, but somehow managed to tell him about my passion."

Contrary to his expectations, his father renovated a room in the house, where he could practise dancing. "He told me to learn and teach dance in that room. It was the most precious gift from my father," says Namish. So, how did acting come about? "I came to Mumbai a couple of years ago to meet a friend who was trying his luck in acting. He dragged me to an audition for an ad film and I got selected. That's how I got into acting," he replies.
