Karan p.o.v
Karan sat on his bed in a haze. It had been one of the most memorable days in his life. Today was the end of the 15 day challenge kept by his papa and the day of the teej. He and his mum had performed like nothing else mattered to them in the world. On any another day, this would have been the highlight of the day for him. But today, this didn't top the list. He was cured today. He was normal. NORMAL... he thought, after years of longing, the day had finally come. Vishal had done some tests and gave the all clear thumbs up as a double celebration to complete this day.
Of course all this wouldn't have been possible had it not been for his Naina he thought and a grin came to his face. Yes his Naina, she would always be his Naina now. He had to thank his papa one day, if it were not for him, then their forced wedding would never have happened. She had been everything to him, his support, well wisher, nurse, healer and a repairer to his damaged heart. She had made him human again. He could feel. He could love. He could touch anyone he wanted now, go to work, play tag with his sister. Anything. ANYTHING... his life had changed the day she stepped foot into it. She had turned his darkness into light, sorrows into happiness and enemies into friends.
Although their was so much happiness in this day, he would not forget the sadness that came with it. A lot of things had been revealed at the teej today. A LOT... but it didn't matter to him as much as one point. Maasi maa. The lady he thought was his backbone, his pillar of strength was all but a lie. She was only putting on a facade. She had never loved him. She had been the reason that he wasn't cured for so long. She never wanted him to get well. He gulped down the large ball that had formed at his neck. He had to let go. She's gone now, he told himself, gone for good.
A slight click at the door bought him out of his trance. He looked up to see Naina trudging in. She was pulling her hefty suitcase with some trouble. A smile crept onto his face. She could live with him now. Papa had kept his word. She was now his wife in the proper sense. She would stay with him, rule his heart, rule his soul. He stood up and helped her place the bag on the piano stool.
Lao main help kardoonga he offered. She refused. Nahi Karan mein karloongi. If she was adamant then so was he, without listening to her he opened the bag and started pulling out her things and placing them in the cupboard. She gave in and slowly passed each suit so he could hang it up. Slowly the cupboard was being filled with her things, he turned once more to grab the next item, when he saw a slightly blushing Naina, closing the lid and shooing him away. Baaki mein karoongi. Tum jao. It took him a moment to realise. He grinned. Teek hai, baaki tum rakhlo. Saying this he plopped himself on the bed.
Naina p.o.v.
Thank God Karan didn't get to the bottom of her bag, she thought as she hurriedly hid the rest of her private things into the cupboard. She couldn't help but continue blushing for a few moments. Once done, she zipped the bag tightly and stood on stool, trying to place the bag on top of the cupboard. He peeked and came to her. Lao mein upar rakh doonga. Nahi nahi main karloo... she couldn't finish her sentence. She had tiptoed to the edge of the stool and she was falling. Naina kept her eyes tightly shut waiting for the feel of the floor.
It never came. Neither did the pain in her limbs. Instead she felt a strong pair of hands under her. She slowly opened her eyes and immediately found his, intently looking at her. The eye lock came after a long time. They had been through so much in the last two weeks but it was finally over. Their hearts beat in unison. After a few minutes, he slowly placed her down, teek ho na? He questioned scrunching up his eyebrows. Haan she said, again her blush coming quick. She had to learn to control it more she thought. Chalo so jaatein hein, he offered, kal party bhi hai na. She nodded. Dadaji had arranged for another party to celebrate Karans recovery.
They slowly took their sides on the bed but this time with no chaata in between. Sleep came to her quite quickly, it had been a busy day, she had been quite busy looking after the preparations of the teej and all. Not to mention all that happened in it. So many revelations, heart breaks but one most happy news. Karan.. he is all good, said Vishal bhaiiya, she couldn't keep down the joy in her heart at that moment and hugged him. Thank you bhaiya, thank you so much. Nahi Cheeku, jiju tumhare efforts se teek hue hain, he replied. She had rushed to meet Karan, who was backstage of their performance stage at the time and give him the good news. But the excitement took her by surprise, she ran straight into Karans arms and tightened her hands around his neck, screaming the good news. It took her a moment to realise, that she had knocked him on stage and now they were in view of hundred odd people. She blushed uncontrollably and pulled him off and then explained to everyone about the result. Now, lying in his bed once more, She tucked herself in quite comfortably, and covered herself hoping she wouldn't face any more embarrassing moments like today in days to come.
Karan p.o.v.
Naina had slept off as soon as her head touched the pillow, but for him, it wasn't easy, he hadn't slept well for weeks now. The tension had been giving him sleepless nights. He had hoped that once everything was fine sleep would come.but now he realised that he was missing his old partner and chum, the chaata. He rolled round and round for hours. He felt a slight movement next to him and saw Naina looking at him. Kya hua Karan? Tum soye nahi abhi takh? She asked worried. Nahi Naina. Actually Bohot din se main toh aise hi so raha hoon. Woh mein toh chaata pakad kar so raha tha, abh aise so raha hoon toh neend nahi aarahi hai. He replied.
In the moonlight her eyes twinkled. Tum chaho toh mere haath pakad kar so sakthe ho Karan. She suggested. At that moment, the world stopped around him, his eyes focussed on Naina. He smiled, and slowly put out his hand, she placed hers in it. They fit perfectly like two puzzle pieces were meant to be. He lied back down on his pillow and they both turned sideways to look at each other. How does she always come up with a solution to every problem he thought. He thanked God repeatedly for his blessing, his Naina. Sleep came to him, he hadn't slept like this in days. It was a new beginning, just him and Naina, no barriers between, no chaata, no dupatta, just them and their hands intertwined for the rest of eternity.
