I think Karan has some kind of OCD and if he has hope they do a big story line on it. There is lack of understanding of OCD and it's a big issue in mental Heath that's hardly discussed openly. We all laugh when he doesn't like being touched and it would be nice to see and know what people with OCD feel. People with OCD are often reluctant to seek help because they feel ashamed or embarrassed.

Does anyone else think he has OCD?

Hi there. Yes, there are a few of us and we discussed this in Samridh/Karan AT. it would be great to see how it's handled.
Not being able to touch yet on the inside where no one can see touch is a craving.
This is the case with OCD. It can be made better with lots of work, understanding and in some extreme cases with psychotherapy!!
Good post.

Yes OCD! Good one! 😊
I know a few of my friends are touch sensitive and they don't like hugs or touching them!!! I think it would be a good breakthrough if they show it through karan but the makers should be very careful in showing This! They shouldn't compromise with the realism only with which it will look good/ impactful

It would be nice to see how people with OCD handle new relationships and how Naina will handle it if she marries him. Good thing is Naina has a good upbringing and She will help him overcome it, but if he married a woman like mamiji (snobby)then his life would be hell.
And you are right, let's hope the story is thoroughly thought through and they don't make a mess of it because it's a very sensitive topic. So looking forward to seeing nairan's love story

even I feel the same, I don't think he have any major problem,I mean come on he is a lead, how can he be ill, it have to be something that Naina can cure, so it can't be any sort of illness, or skin problem...I think it's just mental issue, like mania or OCD, which Naina will cure over time...and slowly he will be a more confident and stronger person who will stand By Naina..but that's a long way to go...

Hm, I don't think him being a lead would be a factor worth considering when denying that there is any major illness involvement. I mean, if people want to explore a certain illness, better do it through a lead than a side character, na? Has more impact šŸ˜†

That being said, Colors' website already mentioned that he has a skin condition. That's the reason for his extra layers of clothes and the umbrella - he needs them for protection (and I've heard many such cases from real life like the umbrella one where people had to take it with them everywhere due to some allergy).

But the not-touching is not related (directly) to this. It might be OCD - when Khayti drank from his glass, he reacted strongly to that. And Khayti said that nothing would happen. From that, I judge that Karan's scared that whatever condition he has it might be infectious. Another theory Sona has put out there was that it's really a childhood trauma of sorts- e.g. people around him treated his condition like something that is infectious (even if it is not) and avoided touching him; hence he developed an aversion to touch.

So, there are two things: One is his skin condition (which wouldn't be much of a hindrance in the NaiRan relationship, I believe, apart from Karan being conscious) - and the other one is his not-touching, which seems more mentally ingrained and will need a lot of time to be handled with (that's the actual problem when it comes to the physical aspect of their relationship later on, they will deal with it, eventually).

I guess OCD is a good theory, too šŸ˜† Might be a mix of OCD and what I mentioned above. Either way, whatever it is, hope CVs handle it carefully! And I hope I made some sense 🤣

Yes you made sense and I know of people who said they were allergic to sun and as a kid I used to laugh at them. But now that I work in mental health I feel bad about my reaction.
I only learnt about OCD When someone at work said to me that I had an OCD of cleaning and I used to irritate colleagues because I used to go and clean their desks when I saw tiny bit of dust without realising I was doing it. šŸ˜”

Ami is correct. I didn't think to clarify in my post. He has, my guess Photosensitivity. People's reaction created the OCD for touch.
So two issues but both are connected. I am looking forward to watching it unfold. The storyline has been preset and I'm sure, all of us are going to enjoy the ride immensely.

I guess that's why all of us (or, at least I) cannot be upset with Naina for her reaction - on the contrary, we can relate to it because many people, if they see someone like Karan for the first times, would react in a similar way Naina did - laugh, think the person is just weird etc... Am glad they didn't make Naina anything exceptional in this case: her journey will make her stand out, eventually šŸ˜†

Di - yes, I believe the same 😊

Either way, they have been handling it well with all the little details. Hopefully, they will keep doing that because this plotline is very, very interesting and has a lot of potential! 😳

I'm a Canadian so maybe I'm aware of it now because we are in fact made aware of mental illness surrounded by stigmas, but before coming to Canada, I too would have laughed.
It's a really great way of showing that a little kindness goes a long way.
