Kunal and Karan are so obsessed with sibling rivalry that they constantly are working at exacerbating each others pain. Kunal is the favored son of the family who is made to feel superior whereas Karan is constantly humiliated by his father and Sandhya. To make matters worse he is susceptible to skin allergies. Karan has his mother's support - but it is as good as no support as Nirmala is abused (emotionally and verbally) by her husband and her so called friend Sandhya!
The relation between the two brothers is so conflicted - it can be labeled as dysfunctional. Their childhood may have been competitive and the competition has been carried into adulthood with the father labeling Karan as incompetent and a failure. NK by constantly comparing the two of them has driven a wedge between them that is hard to bridge!
Sibling relationships are not fixed - they change dramatically over the years. But in the case of these two - with NK being who he is - all bets are off!
