Suvreen opened her eyes like a confused child, frightened with the voices around her.
Not knowing who she was, and where she's is.
As she tried sitting up, she noticed that her body ached with pain. Quietly and swiftly she panicked as the people around her hushed.
They all stared at her with intense gazes. She took each and every one of them under observation, she didn't know these people.
Suddenly their voices became louder, to a point where she can match pieces together.
"Yuvraj, she's your responsibility now" a middle aged woman told the man before her
'YUVRAJ'
The name seemed familiar. Where had she heard that name before? As bemused as she was, she somehow felt a connection with this man.
Her gaze once again fell on Yuvraj. Suvreen found him mesmerizing and handsome. From a distance, she could tell that his body was firm and strongly built.
As she opened her mouth to speak no words came out. Instead a hoarsely squeak gave attention to the people around the room.
"Suvreen," They all said at once.
SUVREEN P.O.V
The man YUVRAJ' came closer and surprisingly I didn't feel all that shocked, and it was obvious that he felt the same way reading by his facial expression.
Just when he was arms length, he touched my face with the softest fingers.
His eyes never stopping at one part of my face, instead, they roamed about me like a priced jewel.
I liked the way he gazed at me. It's like he was noticing me for the first time. My heart instantly gave way to him.
Yuvi: "How are you feeling?"
Again, I opened my mouth to speak but no words. I began to be alarmed with this thought.
I can't speak.
It just occurred to me that I couldn't remember my name or where I came from.
The elder woman approached me with tears in her eyes, "Suvi, it's me, Mumma. Do you remember me?" I closed my eyes and thought deeply for a moment but nothing seemed to be in place.
I didn't notice the doctor in the room until he came about me and turned on his flashlight to check if I was alright. But when the lights flashed at my eyes, I pulled the nearest thing next to me, to shelter the throbbing pain in my eyes. I couldn't stand the light.
"What's wrong with her?" Someone asked.
"She's undergoing a procedure that doesn't look too good. In her case it might take some time to remember everything. I wouldn't say amnesia, but I wouldn't say healthy either. Just give her some time. As of her not being able to speak, don't worry, her voice will be back before you know it."
Yuvraj turned and stare at Suvreen.
Flashback...
3 days ago...
After the accident...Suvreen was rushed into the hospital...her condition was critical.
Doctor: "The operation has gone well...but she's still critical...we need to keep her under surveillance."
Yuvi: "Can I see her?"
Doctor: "Yes"
The doctor left. Yuvraj, Mannu, Rathi, Suvreen's friends (Annie,Zorro,Naro)and parents went into the ICU to check on Suvreen.
He was staring at Suvreen who is unconscious.
Yuvi: "Uncle and Aunty...Let me make things right"
"Suvreen forgive me,other than my brother she's all i have left.I can't afford to lose her"
Mumma Guggal: "But wasn't it just a few hours ago that you broke her heart Yuvraj?"
Yuvraj stare at Suvreen with a teary eyes..
He walked out of the room.
Suvreen's parents and the others continued to stay beside Suvreen
The next day...
Yuvraj came early in the morning with a man and walked into the ICU...he saw Suvreen's parents and the others are still there.
Yuvraj walk closer to Suvreen "How is she doing?"
Annie: "No changes...it's still the same"
Yuvraj turn and faced all the people in the room. "I want you all to be my witness"
Baldev: "Witness?"
Rathi: "Bhai,What are you trying to do?"
Yuvi: "Uncle..I'm Marrying Suvreen...right now"
All the people are in shocked
Mannu: "Bhai,what about..Rhe..."
Yuvi: "I've decided...and nothing will change my mind"
Yuvraj took out the wedding form and sign it and he even took suvreen fingerprints on the form.
Yuvraj took out the sindoor and colored suvreen forehead with it.
"From now on...she's my responsibility...and about the rest of the wedding...we will do it after she's fully recovered."
Flashback ends...
Suvreen's P.O.V
For the second time that day I woke up, the only dissimilarity was that I was alone. I guessed it was around the middle of the night.
Forcefully sitting up, I looked around, taking in the lavish view of the outside world.
I noticed that stars surrounded the dark sky with splendid and sparkling lights that looked ever so beautiful with the moon on the out skirts of it.
Just when I felt like standing up, the same man earlier entered the room.
It was Yuvraj.
He settle himself on the seat not far from the bed.
Yuvi: "Are you hungry or thirsty?" I shook my head as an answer and he gave me a quiet laugh.
"I know you're probably wondering how you got here. Do you want me to tell you?" I got quiet and waited for him to continue.
He furthermore surprised me when he stood up and walked towards me, still I wasn't afraid. He sat on the bed's edge, then looking at me
"It all happened about a month ago, the day of our wedding. We got into an argument and said some awful things about each other. You left home with the car and got into an accident. I'm sorry for what I've done...my wife."
Suvreen widen her eyes in shocked
Suvreen's mindthought: "What!This guy...is...my...HUSBAND!?I'm MARRIED!?" suddenly she felt dizzy and fainted.
After being convinced by the doctor that Suvreen is fine...Yuvraj sat at the edge of her bed.
When he noticed she was breathing evenly, he inched closer and sat next to her so that they were just breaths away from each other.
Tearfully Yuvraj planted a kiss on her forehead and whispered her goodnight. He didn't know whether she'd ever talk to him when she comes back to her normal self, nevertheless, he promised her that he'll make her happy.
At least until then.
If it hadn't been for him, then maybe she would still be safe and living normally. This time, come what may, he will take care of her.
He knew everything he told her today was a lie, but there was no other way to repay her for what she's done for him all these years, but giving himself to her.
I'm going try to love you Suvreen, even if it's the last thing I do with whatever it takes." He whispered to her in the dark.
No one was there to console him. No one there to assure him that everything was going to be alright. It barely mattered to him now.
Taking out a box from his pocket and opening it, a treasured gift came into view. A give he once bought for the one he love.Not long after he took it out of its case and slipped it onto Suvreen's fourth finger. The ring is loose but now they both wore matching wedding bands.
Maybe they weren't married because of love, but in god's eyes he had asked for her hand in marriage.
As he looked out the window, a star sparkled.
Yuvraj smiled and took it as a sign.
He fixed the loose strands of hair behind her ear and welcomed her in his heart, "Mrs.Khurrana."
The next day
No one was pleased with the idea of Yuvraj entering the Guggal family, furthermore his supposed' relationship with Suvreen, knowing for a fact that he did not love her.
Luckily to Yuvraj's defense, they agreed because they knew how much Suvreen would have wanted this.
Maybe not in this kind of situation, immobile they were willing to give it a try for her sake.
The Hospital
Yuvraj entered the quiet room where he found Suvreen gazing down the outskirt garden. Silently, he moves toward her to see a better view of what she was looking at. Surely, she couldn't have noticed him because she was deep into her thoughts.
Looking down Yuvraj saw what Suvreen was looking at.
Children.
"Aren't they beautiful?" He was surprised when she spoke to him; not because she noticed his presence but the fact that spoke out. Aloud.
"Yo--."
"Yes, I can speak." Suvreen moved so that she faced him.
She didn't know anything about her life except that she was married to this man standing right before her. She was even more surprised when she clasped her hands together and felt that there was something rough on her fourth finger. Glancing down she found a beautiful wedding band on her finger.
Suvreen examined it a little, and then hastily turned her lost eyes to her husband.
Yuvi: "Do you want me to call the doctor?" he asked after a moment of silence.
Suvi: "No, I'm fine. Yuvraj right?"
Yuvraj nodded.
Suvi: "I want to go home."
Yuvi: "In a bit, let's wait a little."
Khurrana Mansion
They reached the Khurrana Mansion.Along the way Yuvraj was busy talking in his cell phone regarding work as if he was trying to avoid conversation with Suvreen. It come to a point where it annoys Suvreen.
Suvreen didn't wait for him to open her side of the door. She opened it just when he turned off the engine and went straight towards the back of the car to pick up her bags.
When she opened the trunk of his car she lifted the heavy item and walked ahead hoping not to talk to him anytime soon.
She didn't know why she was mad at him.
She felt lost as she entered the mansion. Still with her arrogance in mind, she followed her instinct and went in search for their room.
That night Yuvraj entered their room then closed the door behind him ever so gently so he wouldn't have to wake her.
He changed into his nightwear clothing and washed his face before deciding to lie next to her. Making sure that he settled a good space between them, he filled his side with much caution.
