Part - 4

The day of Voting

Almost everything in DPSC was different that day. All the teachers were relaxing in their cabin as if it was their holiday. All the burden of the elections' voting process was on the current Student body president, GS, CS and SS i.e. Abhimanyu, Gyanesh, Rhea and Yuvraj.The entire am phi-theater was full of students. One student was entering by the right side while another was leaving by the left after casting their vote. It was Yuvraj's idea to avoid chaos and in-organization.

Yuvi was just standing with his cabinet members. His hands were folded and he had a confident spirit along with a stern smile as everyone came, voted and left. On the other hand, Suvi was standing beside Gyanesh to represent their group. Her heartbeat increased every time she sees someone putting in their vote. She was afraid that her group might lose. Not because she wants to win, but because recently she has developed an aspiration to become the GS of DPSC and help the students. Oh Gannu jii! I am nervous. Too much. She admitted it to herself and closed her eyes in tension as she couldn't think of any other ways to control herself. Yuvraj's eyes were on her. Yeah, right! How could he not notice her? ;) Her eyes were still closed. His smile stopped as tension was building up inside him by seeing her nervousness. He just kept on looking at her with a small hope that she would open her eyes. To his surprise, she did. As soon as her eyes opened, she caught Yuvi staring at her. This added more to her nervousness. Yuvi gave a comforting smile and blinked once slowly which meant that she shouldn't worry and everything will be fine. She understood it and smiled at him nodding her head slightly in a "yes".

"Guys...sab students vote kar chuke hai..ab sab candidates ki baari hai..aiye.." declared Abhi in his usual deep voice which made everyone stop their whispers, small talks and also YuvReen's silent talks. Only Yuvraj, Suvreen, Abhi, Gyanesh, Rhea, and other cabinet members were left in the am phi-theater. Abhimanyu, Rhea, Mannu, Gyanesh, Virendar, Rathi and Krishna put their vote and left one by one quietly. Yuvraj looked at Suvi and gestured her to go put in her vote first. Tension was all over her face and she walked towards the table with the box on it. Yuvi's eyes never left her. She took the pen and looked over the options. It said...

Suvi thought..Maine toh yeh socha hi nehi ki main kiske liye vote karungi..umm..khud ke liye karungi toh selfishness hogi..aur agar Yuvraj ke team ke liye ki toh..She paused in her mind and looked back at Yuvi who was standing few feet behind her. Toh itna bhi bura nehi hoga..Yuvraj agar kuch karega..toh college ki bhalai ke liye hi karega.. She concluded and circled Yuvraj's column, folded the paper and put it in the box. She let out a deep breath and turned around with a consent smile. Yuvi smiled back at her as he started to move forward. Suvi moved aside letting him take the pen and cast his vote. He looked at the options. He then realized that Suvi didn't leave yet and was looking at him as if she was trying to decode his expression to know who he was going to vote for. He was going to circle the option when he felt Suvi come closer and peak into his paper. As soon as she realized what she was doing, she moved back instantly smiling sheepishly at Yuvi embarrassed. He chuckled and said calmly, "koi nahi, dekhlio main kiske liye vote karraha hu..I don't mind" He winked at her surprising her with both his comment and wink.

"Acha? Thik hai toh main sach much dekh leti hoon..." saying this she came closer to get a view of his paper and saw that he has circled the column of her group. Yuvi put back the pen and paper inside the box before turning to Suvi. He could see it clearly that she was astonished.

"Tumne mere group k liye vote kiya? Par kyun?" asked Suvi as she got along with Yuvi's speed while walking out of the am phi-theater.

"bas aise hi." Replied Yuvi. His answer irritated Suvi as it wasn't sensible at all.

"Aise hi?...batao na kyun?"

"Umm...kyunki...mujhe pata tha ki DPSC ki saari ladkiya mere liye hi vote karegi..isiliya socha...tujhe ek vote daan kar doon.." answered Yuvi sarcastically. He saw anger in her eyes as she looked straight ahead murmuring something as they walked. He decided to spill out the truth.

"Maine tere team k liye vote kiya kyun ki mujhe laga ki tujhe GS banna chahiye.." He said smiling genuinely. Suvi was overwhelmed by his answer. She had a grin on her face with a slight blush but she didn't even realize it.

"Aur mujhe yeh acchi tarha se pata hai ki tune mere team k liye cast ki vote.." Yuvi winked at her. She immediately looked at him and he could read that her eyes asked him how did he know that? He thought of clearing her confusion.

He replied, " Aree itna toh main tujhe jaan hi gaya hoon kit u khudgarz nehi hai." Suvreen took it as a compliment and nodded in agreement but tension took over her mind again when she saw posters of elections on th wall of the hallway they were going through.

"Itna tension mat lena...dekhna tu hi jeetegi.." said Yuvi trying to comfort her.

"mujhe laga ki tum jeetna chahte ho..I mean Gyanesh ke against.." said Suvi.

"Haan ..woh bhi hai..parr.."

"Par kya?"

"Main yeh bhi nehi chahti kit u har jaye.." Finally Yuvraj said the truth. Suvi looked at him with a lil smile on her face and somehow Yuvraj changed his track.

He said, " aree tu har jayegi..toh tu bohottt royegi..aur yaha DPSC mein flood ho gaya toh?" said Yuvi laughing. Before Suvi could figth back Yuvreen heard Annie yell their name from the back. They walked towards her. MaRo and Rathi were also with them.

"Tum dono itni der tak kya karrehe the?" asked Naro.

Before Suvi could answer, Yuvraj put his hand around Mannu's shouder saying, "Humari Kathgodam ki topper rone lag gayi yar...elections ki tension mein..ab aur kya batau." Mannu, Rathi and Yvraj chuckled while Annie and Naro asked in a concerned way, "Tu thik toh hai na ab?"

"Haan yar..yeh Yuvraj toh bakwas hi karta rehta hai hamesha.." said Suvi glaring at Yuvi. All Yuvi could do at her was just give his killer smile because he decided not to stretch it anymore as she was already in tension.

Next Day

11 a.m.

"Annie." Suvi sounded afraid.

"Haan?" replied Annie concerned as they were headed towards the am phi-theater.

"Mujhe bohot ghabrat ho rahi hai." Replied Suvi and nervousness was written all over her face.

Annie roller her eyes as she said, "Subhe se tu yeh 17 baar bol chuki hai..calm down yar!"

"Haan Suvi..tere tension lene se toh kuch nehi hoga na..jo faisla hai..woh toh ha hi.." said Naro. However, Suvi was still not satisfied.

All three of them entered the am phi-theatre and saw Abhi getting g up as if he was going to declare the results. Suvi looked at the crowd infrnt of her with her tensed expression on. Suddenly, she found Yuvi looking at her and at the next moment he smiled at her moving his head to one side. She smiled because she got what he meant.

"Chal..wo rahe Yuvraj, Mannur aur Rathi,,waha chalte hai.." said Suvreen and Annie and Naro agreed and started walking towards the boys. And then they all stood like this...

...others...M N R Y S A...others...

"My friends..elections ki result aa chuke hai..aur yeh mere haath mein hai...and I am really glad ki kal koi hungama nehi hua..aur humare GS, CS aur SS ne sab kuch bohut acchi tarha se sambhala hai..so ab mai humare candidatesko yaha bulana chahunga...yuvraj n group...please mere left mein aiye.."

Yuvraj glanced at Suvi one more time and stood with his killer attitude along with Rhea, Mannu and Rathi. Everyone cheered.

"Aur Gyanesh n group..please mere right side mein aiyee.." said Abhi.

Suvi let oout a deep breath and stood beside Gyanesh along with the others.

"So, may I announce the result guys??" shouted Abhi. Everyone yelled back, "Yes!!!!"

Suvi looked down at the floor as she felt uncontrollable tension tangle through her mind, heart and whole body. She closed her eyes tightly praying to her Gannu ji inwardly. Even Yuvi was tensed now. Not becaue he was afraid that he won't win. He was worried by seeing his topper in that condition. He held his breath still looking at Suvias Abhi said, "OK..here I announce it.." He paused for a moment.

Everyone was silent like never before. Yuvraj still held his breath with a small frown ooking at his topper. Suvi's praying speed increased and she clutched onto her bag tightly as if it can be torn.

Everyone was waiting for Abhi to declare the results. Who will win? Who will be the Student president? GS? SS? CS? Gyanesh's group or Yuvi's?

"The winning group is..." Abhi paused again.
