It's difficult to reach the level that CID has achieved because CID has been around for 14 years. The characters have become legends and there are people who have grown up with CID, so it has become part of many people's lives for many years. It's more than just another TV serial now.
Surya will take a long time to reach that level. The makers of CID and Surya are the same, hence we can expect some amount of similarities between the two - like the dialogues and investigation style etc. The makers must make Surya different and create a USP for it.
I know Harsh is a very good actor, but being blind it reduces the scope for him to perform. The others are so-so. I just saw one episode, so I cannot really comment on them.
I must also mention that a daily crime show is impractical. They are finding it difficult to handle two episodes of CID...running out of ideas and repeating the themes....how are they going to make 6 different crime episodes every week? I don't know....God bless them.
