I used to like that no one could clearly say if he is God or not.It used to be fun to speculate.I agree they could have brought back Chuck without revealing who he was. Let the mystery continue. I just find this whole revelation highly underwhelming also in between seasons makes it less impactful. I was expecting if they ever have to bring God they should do it in the end when he comes for the wrap up. I just never in my wildest dream thought that God will be hiding from his sister and learning guitar. It's like watching God in depression . Its not really a good feeling for me 😆EXACTLY! They should have rather let the mystery element be there for as long as the show was on air. I too expected God to show up at a time when they could be NO ONE to save the day and expected his entry to be the best-est there ever has been on SPN. Remember how Horsemen's and Death were introduced? And God shows up like this? It felt so underwhelming, unimpactful, and too easy. A revelation that big even if widely speculated should have been done in manner that blew the charts off. This was just so...bleh.I don't know why J2 agree. Maybe their opinions about life has changed too from then. Happens.:(The whole Metatron was so sudden that by the end of it I was like wait are u kidding me ?? He saved the day ? He is supposed to be the bad guy who killed Dean I m so confused with his whole redemption track I don't even know how it started or he just suddenly woke up one day and though time to be the good guy. Well atleast he won't be an angel again .. pheww..I don't exactly see this as redemption, there's this tumblr post I saw a while ago that sums it up quite well.Here.Metatron having a purpose in the story, serving the greater good, does not equate him having a redemption arc. He has no remorse for what he did, despite being able to acknowledge that what he did was totally in the wrong. Bad characters can still be used for good, but that doesn't make them good themselves.
Chuck realizes this, which is why he flat out refuses to restore Metatron's angel status. That much is clear. But if Metatron wasn't the douche we all know him to be, he wouldn't have the guts, or the stupidity, to challenge God the way he did.
Without Metadouche pushing God's buttons, pushing Chuck to the point of flinging him through the doors, Chuck may not have come out of hiding to help. He may still be in that bar, typing away at his inadequate autobiography. Metadouche being, well, Metadouche, was the catalyst to getting God involved. We needed him to propel the story. Chuck wasn't coming out for any reason. Not because Amara was pulling her attention seeking shit, not because Cas was looking for him, not because Dean and Sam broke the world (again and again), not because of anything anyone else did. He came out of hiding because someone finally held up a mirror and called him on his bullshit. Something only Metatron could do effectively.
That doesn't redeem him. That doesn't erase what he did before. Feeding a dog doesn't suddenly make him a good person. This episode wasn't about Metatron getting redemption. It was about how even the worst people can have a positive effect on the world, even if they don't mean to. It was about someone slapping God in the ego hard enough to jolt Him out of hiding.

Regarding tumblr posts I have to find. But I wasn't talking about fandom reactions. I was talking about people who brings in the ratings for this show. People who view the show on netflix and have no idea why the hell that amulet was glowing. You know the ones who can't get manipulated by nostalgia alone. Ratings chart showed people dropping the show halfway which means they didn't like the epi. Tumblr is for hardcore fandom people who memorises each and every scene that happened on the show. They don't bring in the ratings but they surely promote the show irrespective of its quality.

Oh, that's the case. Atleast, there are people around who share the same view as ours then. Tumblr was making me feel like a complete alien otherwise. Amulet was supposed to burn white hot in God's presence. So, it was glowing because a) Chuck/God was around b) it was perhaps that Hand of God which is going to be useful in defeating Amara and it was in the hand of a righteous man (Dean).

My favorite memory of God will always be swan song. How he narrated the story and the things kept happening in a sequence. So fitting and apt . I was in awe . My favourite entry of a character was Death. So haunting and scary and Dean meeting him haha best stuffs happened back then. Compared to those type of things this falls flat. I mean I can still expect things like these if all the chars were given such treatment but we all know how things used to be dealt with back then. So yes this is pathetic attempt of revealing God in the show.
I wanted that mystery element to remain intact too. Those 5 seasons, sigh. Those times when everything made sense and even if it didn't, it didn't for a purpose so that it could make sense later. I still don't get what was so brilliant about the revelation. 😳Eh I dont agree with the post. Yes he has no remorse for what he did but I don't see any evil in him anymore and that is unsettling for me. It changed abruptly. He was batting for the humans and went as far as making Chuck angry and I saw no reason why he had to do that. Yes of course he was used by the writers to bring back God in the game . But I don't think he did with any kind of purpose or atleast I saw none.I'm not sure about this. He could have done it for thr same reasons as Gabriel, may be he just wanted this stupid fight between the siblings to end. Or he could have done it so that he could save himself too as Amara would have destroyed everything and only one to stop it was Chuck. But yeah, I agree that it looked ubrupt and not believable.

I know that but most won't remember or know. Netflix brought in new audience for the show who may not be this attach to remember all the details nor would they care. Btw Dean is still righteous ? 😕
