Hello all,Feels good to be back in the forum after a long time...😃 and also sad that few of my friends are not active in the forum anymore...(read their posts ðŸ˜). I don't blame them...we all started watching the show with a lot of expectations...none were met. Yet we continued watching and tweeting, hoping PH/CV's would one day realize audiences need...but nah...no such thing happened.
This was the first forum where we all thought and reacted similarly, our assumptions and expectations were the same and we put forth that demand. This forum had progressive members...our thoughts were alike.
Coming to SSEL, like many I too started watching this show with lots of expectations. I thought through Suhani, CV's will address the issue of color discrimination that is still so pertinent in our society. I expected CV's to exploit this issue and make audience realize that a person should be recognized and appreciated, acknowledged and loved for who they are. SSEL was such a platform where viewers could be educated and enlightened. SSEL was viewed by all age groups all over the globe, CV's could have shown our people's mindset and how they were gradually changing for better. They could have projected our culture well.
But for the sake of TRP's and demands of the channel...they stuck to projecting Suhani as a helpless female whose life begins and ends at her husband's house even if she is not loved or wanted. This is such a regressive thought...feeling sorry for all of us for expecting so much. PH/CV's sold a solid story for mere TRP's. Serials have stopped being educative and entertaining...they have a formula and they stick to that without giving a thought. They failed to keep audiences interest intact. SSEL is now no different from any other saas-bahu sagas running on television for ages with nothing entertaining or educating or reforming...it's becoming mundane.
Suhani the character we all felt connected and loved to watch onscreen is losing it's charm. CV's have turned her into a helpless and wingless character. I have watched serials like Saans, Tara, Astitva...where women were projected brilliantly...and this was more than a decade ago. And today with women soaring in all fields, leading a respectful and dignified life...CV's are showing Suhani as feeble and dependent. This character which was strong, fierce and independent initially...is now shown as powerless and incapable. This character angers me now...makes me sick to my stomach. After all that has happened (truth is made known - even if in bits and pieces) she is still at the mercy of Yuvraj, his mother and his brothers. Yuvraj sought her help...but how is she helping by staying there...?? Oh yeah...running around finding snoopy, crying her heart out with snoopy...🤢 sickening. This character has lost all it's dignity and grace. I understand she has no place to go...her parents house is ruled out as her father betrayed her, so she is staying at BM. But cooking for them, serving and toiling for them all day...for what joy?? This I fail to understand. If CV's wanted to project Suhani as 'Mahaan'...they could have made her forgive all and walk out off BM with her sanity and dignity intact. BM want Suhani for their convenience ...not for love I feel, they are used to her. Suhani too is aware of this...and yet she is staying there.
I thought Yuvraj will project and teach dadi that a person's beauty is deep within...in thier love and care and not in household chores. Now he is making dadi and co aware that Suhani is responsible and excellent in all her duties whereas Soumya isn't. He should have projected the difference between their thinking & perspectives...not hold a competition between the two in cooking and cleaning.
For me SSEL is now just a everyday typical desi drama...nothing innovative or creative in it. But the members of this forum are special and creative and will be cherished always. Made some good friends here...I'll miss them. Am not quitting from the forum...but have distanced from the serial to some extent...the zeal is gone.
Pls do let me know if you gurls/guys are active in any other forums. Since our tastes are quite similar...I'll watch them too.
P.S: Sorry for the lengthy rambling 😉
