Because the viewers like to watch Twisted stories. This type of stories gain most trps. Its not channels fault. Everyone loves Profit. Right ? Look what happened to Eht and look what is happening to everset. This shows are dying. IMO, The viewers are to be blamed. They watch this twisted stories and that gives wrong message to cvs.
Regarding society, This serials may/maynot reflect the true condition if indian society. Its just for entertainment.

What an excellent post👏👏 and I myself was wondering this a while back. All the leading ladies you mentioned are considered the epitome of womanhood because no matter what anybody says to them, they seldom fight back and always forgive those who torment them.

Suhani's silence when she is verbally abused the Foursome irks me to no end. 😡😡 The problem with Indian TV creatives is that they equate goodness with doormat behaviour. If you are letting people treat you like shit, it's not because you are good but because you lack a spine. Indian TV CVs should understand that sacrificing your self-respect at the altar of goodness is not the right thing to do. By taking abuse, these ladies are actually supporting evil because they are allowing evil people to walk over them. I always get very angry at Yuvraj when he keeps quiet in the face of the disgusting crap that Dadi doles out to Suhani and even at Suhani for just shutting up and listening. 😡

Although Indian TV is aimed at women, that doesn't mean that the content is going to be very woman-friendly. This is because the majority of female audiences in Indian happen to be housewives who actually have to deal with the kind of problems Gopi or Suhani face. Also, many a times, for the sake of maintaining family peace, these women have to put up with tyrants like Dadi in silence so they probably identify with such leads when they see them having to shut up and put up.
Indian TV's content will only start to show women on an equal footing with men when the women in their audience become equal to men in real life. It is only when the women in the audience become self-reliant and independent that they will reject such content. When such content is rejected, only then will Indian TV CVs change it and come up with more realistic scenarios.

I'm an Indian girl so I will tell you that India is such a huge country that there will be unfortunately, a lot of households where women are inferior to men and are abused and treated like second class citizens. This is a true fact that Indian women aren't on par with Indian men yet. I come from a very liberal household where my parents have loved me more than anyone possibly can and have given me every opportunity that they would have given to a son and more. What happens on these shows may happen in real life but there are many households, including my friends' where they are not treated like cattle.

Just like any other country, Indian TV is not an exact representation of Indian society so everything should be taken with a pinch of salt. There are Indian girls who are submissive but there are Indian girls who stand up for what they believe in. Our society has a long way to go and we are making progress; many Indian girls are changing for the better and are not putting up with abuse anymore.

Thank you. I am glad you liked the post. I am also thankful to all the people who have replied because I see no one wants to comment on sane topics. My grandparents are from India, but left INdia long back. I am sure there are all kinds of girls in INdia, but was puzzled by the fact that all the serials potray Indin girls in a same exact way. Be it uneducated, deprived Gopi or highly educated well brought up Dr. Ishita. Hopefully, there will be more shows like Mahiway, Rishta.com etc...

Why in all Indian tele shows, the female lead is abused to no end? Just for an example, from Gopi to Ishita to Suhani everyone is abused to an extent that I am amused by. Astha is now in better place, but she was in horrible shape herself!!

All of these couples never have an relation with each other be it mental or physical bonding for long time after marriage. All the women go through abuse and at the end of it man feels that wow she has the highest tolerance for his abuse and realizes sudden love.

Does this happen in Indian society? Do people not consummate their marriage for long time and woman get abused and man gets to be a macho by pushing her, pulling her, hurting her physically even though at small scale, screaming at and many more abusive forms that are considered domestic violence. Is this norm in Indian families in India????

Are Indian girls so submissive and such pure hearted like all the leading ladies??? Give your scoop girls. If possible let me know if you are a male or female.

"Consummating" marriage does not mean the girls are not abused. In fact girls can hardly know the guy before marriage being "arranged" ( I am not going into "arrange" "love" marriages right now.) yet their marriages get "consummated" that very day of marriage does not mean the marriage is normal.

Girls who need not the be the "lady love" of their husbands even their marriages are "consummated" because in India one does not need love for "consummation" of marriage.

As for these tv serial leads I do not know what has gotten into the makers that they show the couple as not normal married couple even if they knew each other before marriage.

As for Gopi's case Ahem did not like her or like to get married to her before marriage. He only married her to ruin her life under pressure from his mom. Koki baby would not let him get married to Anita. She wanted a girl who would not "talk back" After marriage she never cared that Gopi was not treated like a human being by Ahem.

As for Ishita that marriage was of convenience. They got into it knowing fully well it was for the sake of Ruhi.

As for Astha shlok married her to "teach her a lesson" for insulting his Bapuji.

I do not know about others. These couples never go for outings date nights or evenings whatsoever.

As for Suhani same thing has happened. And Suhani has not told her parents her marriage was not normal.

Probably the makers get some kick out of showing the girls being abused. All they show is the girls making "badiya si chai" or laddus or the girls dreaming about dil pe raaj karongi, man pasand kheer banaoongi, making round chappatis, or preparing puja thali etc.

And almost in all serials they show the girls dressed up in "flowers" instead of gold ornaments and playing in the jhoola that will increase "pyaar"

I even saw in one of the serials I think Saathiya writing "love letters" will increase "pyaar" and then little bits of fight will increase "pyaar"

and then for all the insults the guy wantonly does to the girl he will do "patni pooja" (once I saw in IPKND) shlok throwing flowers at Astha.

And then all Shlok's vehement behaviour towards Astha was due to his "tender" heart breaking because of a previous "love affair"

BTW FYI "consummating" marriage does not mean the couple love each other.

There are many girls in real life who get raped on the day of their marriage by their husbands because the husband does not know any better. and he thinks it is his right over his wife.

They show stupid nonsense in serials. for sure.
